Never seen these before. Potentially dangerous 18650 cells?

Ok, I was at the local flea market down here in Central Florida.

There was a flea market dealer selling these cells to people.

He was claiming that they were the best batteries he had.

A 35 amp 18650

I know better so I bought two figuring I could check under one wrap and still have a unblemished cell to show pics of.

These batteries look like complete shit and someone is going to wind up getting hurt.

They look exactly like the 35 amp efests but there is no efest logo!!!

Efest is a known seller of rewrapped cells but these may be even worse.

They are button tops. I've never seen a button top efest but I don't use efests so I figured i'd ask here.

I had button top efests, but not the purple ones. This was years ago and they were like 12 amp batteries. I've never seen the purple efests in button top. The new efests, if they are legit, should have a scratch off with a code underneath it that you can enter in their website to confirm the batteries were legitimately re-wrapped by them. lol

I knew as soon as I saw them that they looked dangerous.
I know there is no way that they are 35 amps continuous like the clown at the flea market told the kid (early 20's) in front of me they would work great in his mech.o_O
There is no battery that is an 18650 that is higher than 30 amps continuous.
I wouldn't even use these in my 40 watt dual 18650 Vaporflask.
I bought them to show you guys why more and more mods are exploding.
I found 3 mod explosions this week that I posted in the News & Media section.

Should scare the vendor a little and tell them the battery blew up and your suing them for lying about the rating..

That's some shit. More bad PR we don't need if something happens...

The dipshit that sold you the batteries probably get them for a buck each from ebay. Dangerous little bastard. Has no idea, or maybe he does and wants to scam and make money.

I'd be tempted to march right back down there and flash a fake badge. Bet he'd stop selling them REAL quick.

I'm willing to bet he doesn't vape or know jack shit about vaping. He's down there to make money like the other shills. Once he's got your money, he could care less if anything happens.

half the ppl selling is in it for the money. You did get the cell from a flea market so you should now that its garbage. the other kid didn't know better out of curiosity did you warn the 20 yearold the dangers of using that battery? You do such a good job of informing us but did you try to help the kid?this is at 5150

Is there any way to turn this guy in for selling these for the purpose intended being a danger to the consumer?

it doesn't surprise me ... Efest is a recognizable company with most vapors, whether they like the batteries or not. This reminds me of the knock off AA and AAA Batteries that they try to make look like Duracell's you find at Flea Markets quite often.

Out of curiosity, how much money was he ripping people off for with these?

I didn't want to get into a fight with the flea market guy so I said that you should only use flat top batteries in mechs to the young dude.
The guy didn't have any flat top batteries for sale.
But I wasn't really lying.
Flat top batteries do cause mechs to have better conductivity because the flat top allows more surface of the positive terminal to touch the pin that goes inside the 510 connection.

$10 a pair.
I bought a pair strictly to see what was under the wrapper and show you guys how these people are putting our way of quitting smoking at jeopardy.
