I still watch a lot of those on the old-timer channel, LOL! The new shows aren't worth watching. Humor on TV died somewhere along the line, but these older shows can still make me laugh
What they put on the air today is meant to offend nobody. Back then, nobody cared, and that's why it was funny. Making it worse: in the 1980s, people wanted more reality on TV. Now, we got scripted reality TV.

Back when....
Back when neighbors and friends helped each other out.
Back when manners mattered.
Back when children respected their elders and themselves.
Back when families would sit down to dinner together.
Back when ladies dressed like ladies.
Back when men treated a lady with respect.
Back when shopping took place in the corner store.
Back when momma's stayed home to care for the family.
Back when times seemed much more simple and not so fast paced.
Back when you could sit on the front porch and talk to your neighbors or walk down the country road to talk to your neighbors.
Back when......

A DOLLAR?? We got a dime. It was 10 cents for an ice cream, and when we heard the truck coming, we all begged for a dime from our dad, then ran out to intercept the truck.

Back when....
Back when neighbors and friends helped each other out.

This is especially meaningful to me right now. Saturday night, our well pump quit on us. We called a neighbor on Sunday morning to ask who does well servicing around here, and he gave us a couple of names. One was out of town, but the other one came out and thought he had fixed it (we thought it was a wiring problem), but it went out again Sunday night, and for good that time. So the well guy and the neighbor came back over to change out our pump, but discovered that it's on galvanized steel pipe and it was WAY too heavy for two guys to get out by hand, so we had to wait for another guy to come out yesterday morning with a pipe pulling rig. He made it seem simple. And not only was it galvanized pipe all the way down, but we found out the well is 270 feet deep, not 200 like we thought. Anyway, that's where the pump was, down at 270 feet. The old pump was about 50 years old. Not bad for an old pump. But they got it changed out and now we finally have water again. It's awful being without water on a farm, but the neighbors and friends helped us out, including bringing us extra water when our stash ran out, and the one neighbor even said he'd help us pay for the pump replacement if we couldn't afford it (because THAT mess is going to be expensive!). Of course, we'll pay him back if he does have to help, but how many neighbors have you ever known that would do something like that? Not only spend two days over here trying to help fix the problem, but then offering to help pay for fixing the problem. I'm still amazed... :)
