OK so what REALLY is the point at vaping at 120w?

I bought my first box mod recently, the IPV 4S, and I have the arctic tank on top right now. I don't have a drip tip yet because, well, frankly I dot have enough time to be stopping and dripping every few puffs as I'm very busy. I was super excited when I fist got it but now I'm just like blah! Haha! I run between 30 and 45 watts and the temp control seems to not really do much for me. I'm sitting here wondering.... what is REALLY the point of vaping at my max 120 watts?!

The people that built 0.1 ohm coils running on a mechanical mod would be the ones that want to vape at 120w.

A higher ohm coil needs less wattage to produce good vapor. If you have a 0.5 coil, 30w may be good. If you have a 0.2 coil, 80w may be a comparable vape.

If you are in watt mode, I dont believe you are running in temp mode. You need a Ni or Ti coil to opperate your mod in temp mode.
I dont have your specific mod so I can't say 100% for sure, but most of them are all the same as far as that goes so I'm pretty sure if you are seeing watts, your not in temp mode.

If I run 80 w on my tank I get dry hits almost every time. And that's with a .2 ohm coil! Wonder why?

And as the drip tip question when you said huh? A drip tip is good for a few hits in it before I have to wet the wick again .... I'm just always running so I prefer a rather large tank.

How large are getting the droplet size to? The provided tip is a large bore tip that would take any liquid drop seen by man in all of history lol.

The artic is not intended to be dripped into, you can I guess but it gets the liquid from the tank so since you dont have an extra couple seconds in your abnormally busy life... you can avoid dripping and just vape what's in the tank :D

If you are getting dry hits, maybe your juice has too high of a VG ratio and not able to keep up so find a thinner juice with more PG like a 50/50 juice. You may also not be letting your new coil sit long enough to get completely saturated with juice before hitting it and it is burning.

There are a million and one different attomizers so just because 120w is not really usable with the tank you are using doesn't mean that someone else wouldn't build a RDA that can wick fast enough and have a low enough resistance to handle 120w.

Thanks for the info.... I was just curios.
And no I don't drip with the arctic tank.... Lol that would definitely take too much time. I fill the tank and get on about my day.
I am running a high VG so that may be the case. I'm still fairly new to all this so I'm still learning!

I don't personally like running regulated devices flat out. I like having headroom. Then if you want to try say Smok's new TFV4 tank with a quad coil you have the power in reserve. My 200 watt TC mod also does 10 watts just fine and the batteries would last a long time between charges.

Y'all have any advice as to what would be a good tank to vape at 120w? I like to produce some massive clouds sometimes but it seems to get expensive after a while!

I think you meant to say RDA not drip tip. REBUILDABLE Dripping Atomizer. That's why the other person said huh.

Try 50 to 60w on your .2 tank.

The more you ask, the more you will know. This forum is a good source of info with helpful people that will not (for the most part) be dicks when you ask noob questions.

It's all good. I'm not actually recommending the TFV4 tank. I hear it's good tank but goes through the juice, makes sense, 4 coils get thirsty ;) . I was just giving you an example of a tank that requires more power

The Monster V3 is a tank made for subohming at high wattages. Gorgeous piece of equipment imo.

I actually admire someone willing to dive right into the deep end to learn how to swim, but it can be a little worrisome to see them thrashing around to stay afloat. Don't worry, you'll be doing the breaststroke in no time. It's not rocket surgery.

I am enjoying the TFV4, with the triple coil, 80w barely enough and unsure what would be like above that. Have 2 200 watt devices on pre-order hope to see in 2-6 weeks. One was a deal that I could not pass up and very unsure how device will work, but could not pass up, other is the VaporShark DNA 200. Mostly doing Ni/Ti builds and only benefit of larger device would be battery life. However from time to time like to push kanthal builds and have not been able to go over 80w. My sweet spot for kanthal is. 6-.8 and 20-24w. My IPV D2 and VT are my goto devices, only keep 2 active, not sure what one will go to sideline after get the VaporShark, most likely the VT as good to have one device with easy to swap batteries.

Also picked up a Velocity RDA last week and feel limited at 80, I rarely use RDA 's but nice change from time to time or if going into shop to taste juice or go through juices I already have.

Long story short, never thought I would need more than 40 watts and 95% of the time I don't, but sure is nice to have it when you went it. The TFV4 is currently about .2 on Ti working very well, not sucking the juice like the triple.

As said 120w is for people who like to build fancy coils like fused Clapton etc. They need the extra watt to ramp up. I use regular 26 or 27 g coils at. 3 or. 4 and only need 25 to 40w. To each their own

i find myself strictly enjoying rtas now and don't really use drippers anymore for anything other than taste testing. I'm usually at 50 to 60 watts tops.
