Hi people. I am usually over at the regulated section, but with all the talk of the NHS on the news prescribing Ecigs (They did not use the word vape, so I believe it will be a crap device if they do provide one, so someone can say I tried vaping, it didn't work for me, then they can carry on with the tax money from Cigarettes, They are around £8 a box and most of this is tax)
Now, I asked what the best two mods were, for if it ever did become impossible to get a real mod. Most people said get a mech, and I was advised a nemesis, real or clone, so I ordered a nice clone from fast tech, made sure it was not hybrid top cap, and bought it. It cost me £8. £8 for a mod, I was shocked. I payed the extra 27P for express delivery, as when I used it before it took just over a week to arrive. I also ensured the mod I got was in stock, that is why it is this colour. I was advise a mech as there is no chip to go wrong, and isuser serviceable.
I guess this one is OK? https://www.fasttech.com/p/1849607 It takes 3 different batteries, 18350, 18500 and 18650, I will be using 18650's.
I realised as long as I don't build super low, and there are no shorts, they are not dangerous as long as treated with respect. I think a 0.4 coil will work fine, plus it only pulls about 8 amps. I could go lower, but I will try 0.4 first, and it doesn't need to be plumes of vapour, just enough, say the amount a nautilus provides, more for flavour.
Now, is there anything I need to actually know before using a mech? Coming from regulated, how do I know to change the battery is my main question? Would I go by time? Like say 3 hours use, then change? Or is there another way, as I realised even with the coltage drop it will drop from 8 amps and 35 watts, down to 6 and 20 watts. Over the course of using I probably wont notice this, so I was thinking time is probably better to go by, as even if I am pulling them out slightly full, it is still better than too low.
So, any tips to someone coming from regulated to a mech, any advice would be appreciated.
PS I will be testing all coils on an ohms reader and other device before it goes on my mech to ensure correct resistance, and I will make sure to build in such a way a short is virtually impossible. Now I got the hang I can do that, at first when learning to wrap I always got shorts a few months back, I have not had one for a long time, and always clip the tail end as close as I can to the post, then bend any remains upward.
