How does "ignore member" work?

Question - when (if) I have to ignore someone - does it just make their posts no longer visible to me? Or are they able to see everything that the ignoring party posts?

Example I ignore "bob q person" - do I just see VU minus "bob q person's" posts or does it work in reverse as well and bob q person no longer sees my posts?

Concerned if the ignore ends up only being a one way street that someone who has been ignored may be badmouthing the ignoring party - and the ignoring party is oblivious because they've ignored the person, but everyone else who hasn't ignored bob - still sees all his badmouthing.

Does that make sense?

Im not sure what they see, but if you ignore a person here, when you click new post, if the ignored person was the lastpost it will say "ignored person."Their post wont show up for you at all in the thread. The ignore feature works good on this site, way better than Vbullentin sites.

Not sure if that helps.

You will pretty much not know they exist. As for the reverse. .. no idea.

only if he also clicks ignore will it be so. each user would have to manually ignore one another

Yeah that answers it. Was sort of hoping it would work sort of like facebook's block feature which is the equivalent of a mutual ignore.

You only say that because you have not yet learned how to work the "Ignore Member" button thingy yet:p

But your "Uncle" still "Wuv's" you:D

Yeah, ignore on forums is pretty useless.

IMO, if you have an issue with someone and can't work it out, tell a Mod. If nothing else, it sets precedence for later action.

The ignore feature on forums is there to allow a person to ignore another… Personally I could see it used to allow someone time to "cool off" so to speak. So they can come back when in a better space. Until then they see no posts made by person X. Person X is just being person X so they still get to see and comment on whatever they want.

I think it works perfectly to be honest… Cause if person X knew person B was ignoring them, person X could have a sense of accomplishment in their actions which I am sure person B would not want them to have. Make sense??

Sounds vaguely sociopathic IMO.
Ya, because meanwhile the person who was ignored is talking shit behind the other's back unbeknown. Troll's love ignore, it's their fuel. ;-)

Trolls only have the power you give them…. :)

Sociopathic I think is a bit of a stretch though me thinks….

Well, what if some jerkoff starts sending you filthy messages about family members because they didn't like a post you made that had NOTHING to do with them, but they felt the need to bash and harass you endlessly because they are simply a chickenshit gutless asswipe? Can you get them banned from these forums? Either that, or give out their address so you can track them down and beat the living shit outta them. Now THAT's sociopathic. But a solution, nonetheless.

lol, when i saw this post under new posts, it said last response: ignored member.
You wont see their posts, but they will see yours, try sending them a pm and asking them to ignore you as well, they might be ok with that.

The situation has been resolved. I don't feel the need to pursue the matter anymore. I just feel better that the offending person contacted me and apologized, that is all that was really wanted. So, it's all good now. Everybody is not always gonna get along with some folks. I wish that were not true, but it is. But when you get a honest apology, that wipes the slate clean, & all is forgiven....
