What most people fail to realize about B+M stores is they have higher overhead, and tend to have higher buying prices for items due to the fact that they can't buy in larger quantities. I don't think most store owners would berate people for shopping online, HOWEVER, they will berate customers who walk into their shop, take up 10-20 minutes of their (paid) employee's time, put the item they want to buy in their hands, ask tons of questions, and then walk out and buy it online. Some even have the audacity to literally pull their phone out and shop while in the store!? Face it, most people that buy online but walk into a B+M store have zero intentions of buying there, but they want the ADVANTAGE of being able to put the item in their hands, something they just can't do online. It is rude to say the least. A fair approach would be prior to asking to put the item in your hands and ask your questions would be to ask "Hey, I can get this from(fill in the blank) for (fill in the blank) what's your price?" Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with buying online, but there is something wrong with taking advantage of a store. Nobody want's to get rolled over by paying a price for an item that is drastically higher, and a smart store owner will compromise with their customers and perhaps come down in price, or throw some items (maybe a bottle of juice) to keep the customer, as the reality is, making$10 off a customer is better than $0. Sorry for the rant, but having been in the retail business I've seen this all to often.
That being said, I think I am gonna go purchase an IPV D2 from one of my local shops, and pay $20 more for it as every time I walk in there, I get treated great. Just the other day they threw me a free 30ml bottle of juice from a company they were considering bringing into the store. That right there paid for the $20 more I will be spending.
