Nickel versus Titanium... for the folks who like TC vaping

I now have both Ni and Ti coils for my eGo ONE tank... 0.4 ohms is the standard for the Titanium, and 0.2 ohms is the standard for the Nickel. Personal experience so far - I'm a bit between a rock and a hard place...

Titanium - Bigger flavor, bigger clouds... but sometimes I get a harsh vape if I'm not careful with the temp settings, depending on the juice I'm vaping. Since my mod only has an Ni mode, I set the temp 100F lower to get an equivalent temperature for Ti. Though the reading on the screen is technically wrong, I essentially know what temp I'm actually vaping at, so that's petty semantics to me.

Nickel - Always a very smooth vape, but I feel like the flavor is a little muted, and has a different quality to it. Not better or worse necessarily... just different.

Sadly, the Joyetech kanthal coils for the eGo ONE differ from the TC coils, in that they lack airholes at the bottom of the coil... they really restrict airflow too much for me, and I therefore don't use them.

Who else can shed more light on this subject? Thanks.

As wallet allows, I stay on the edge. tfv4 is on the way. I didn't spend $6200.00 on smokes. Budweiser is better for it. $ Vaping is cheap.

Nickel for me. It seems to regulate temps better. Clean the wires good and the taste is about even.

Well, to be clear, I'm just talking about replaceable coils, not rebuildable (I'm not there yet). But that's one vote for Nickel. I think I agree with the temp regulation on Ti. While I am able to find a happy medium, sometimes a minor increase in temp can lead to a very sudden hot vape. Guess it's just a little more touchy.

That's because you're using a mod that isn't designed to regulate Ti wire. It can definitely be done but it isn't the same as a mod that is tuned to control titanium.

I got some Stainless Steel wire at a welding shop. 3 feet of it. .28 is close. Works well for me, takes more power to get going tho. I'm still in with Kanthal.

Well, yeah, the OP conveys my general understanding of that. Since I have to set the device lower for Ti, every 10 degrees in nickel mode will be that much more of a change with a Ti coil. Not a big deal.

I'm still new with tc, but so far I haven't seen an advantage over kanthal.
