Nicotine mg level? 12, 24, 36, 48...100? New DIY.

I have been searching for a couple of hours trying to find the answer to this question. My son makes his own e juice too, but he has made some HARSH flavors! Of course his are 50/50 so that could be part of his issue. He says I should get the 100mg, but I'm not sure. Here is what I am vaping: I vape several different tanks. I use the Nautilus Mini 70vg/30pg at 3 to 6 mg nicotine. I use the Kangertech Subtank 80 or 90 vg to 20 or 10 pg at 1 or 2 mg nicotine. And my Atlantis tank the same as the Subtank. My wife uses the Nautilus Mini at 12 mg nicotine. Again, I'm just starting and I am going to make her a strawberry custard. I'm making me a pineapple custard, a watermelon, and a caramel/butterscotch/custard.

What I'm looking for is what strength nicotine should I get? I am ordering all of the other stuff from the same place. The nicotine is 100mg/ml USP Nicotine solution strength (10.0% Nicotine by volume) diluted in USP grade carrier base vegetable-derived Glycerin.

I do not have any of the apps downloaded to my phone yet to tell me how much of the nicotine to add to get to where I want to be. I have read a lot of posts here and I think I need much lower than the 100mg that has been recommended.

The reason many of us buy 100mg/ml is a) storage and b) cost. You can freeze extra nic until you need it, and I also keep a working bottle in the fridge. You dilute it down using pg/vg or both. You need a juice calculator, and triple check your numbers, to get the right strength in your juice. There are lots to chose from but ejuicemeup is a popular one. It's important to shake the heck out of vg based nic before you use it.

You may be more comfortable starting out with a lower concentration of nic - it's entirely up to you. If the max you vape is 12mg you can certainly buy 48mg/ml to start and perhaps later buy a higher strength. I make most of my juce around 3mg, but I buy 100mg/ml because I just keep the extra in my freezer.

I would not be able to store the extra in my freezer, the wife would not be ok with that...on that note, I would have the nicotine sitting for quite a while because I only vape maybe 2 - 30mil bottles a week, usually less. The wife only goes through 1 or less. Is that going to be bad to have the bottle of nicotine sitting for what I would imagine months before I use it all? I am only ordering a 120mil bottle of the nicotine. All of my e juice, including the nicotine, will be stored under lock-n-key away from heat and sunlight.

I think it's probably fine for many months as long as it's kept away from heat and light. I buy so much because it lasts years in the freezer!

If you get a 120 ml bottle of nicotine base, I'd get four 1 oz. glass bottles either brown or blue, and split the 120ml into those four bottles. As @AmandaD and you yourself mentioned, you want to keep it away from heat and sunlight. However, you also want to avoid exposure to air. Thus preserving your precious nicotine from unwanted oxidation and hydration. So, you expose only 1 small amount of nicotine to the air, while the other three parts are stored well in the other bottles.
A good e-liquid calculator I'm utilizing is at http://e-liquid-recipes.com
You can order those bottles and according caps, or dripper's at http://packagingoptionsdirect.com. Today only, they have a 15% off coupon code SEPT1515
