I've been vaping for six weeks, and contributing to VU for two. And I mean this without exaggeration, every other forum I've been associated with is rampant with assholedom and general douchebaggery.

And then there's VU.

Since day one, I've done nothing but receive excellent advice (and sometimes give decent advice), learned a ton of new information, and engaged in respectful debate. Furthermore, I feel like there's an air of consciousness in the vaping community that's the complete antithesis of, say, drinking. If a straight man orders an appletini at a bar, he'll never hear the end of it from his friends. But around here, everyone rants and raves about every flavor from Captain Crunch to Bourbon Tobacco to Strawberry Cheesecake... Who cares! Whatever tastes good and keeps you off the cancer sticks, right?

I have faded away from other forums due to aggravation caused by other members (e.g. Hockey Goalies [jocks and idiots], Toyota Tundra owners [judgmental pricks and keyboard tough guys]), but I intend to stay here... it's a great hobby, a great health choice, and a fun experience.

So... Thanks everyone!

I couldn't agree more. I am a member of a few other vaping related forums and, although there are a few gems among the members of those forums, NOTHING comes close to VU. This is my vaping "home forum".

Well, I'm expanding to all forums across the internet, not just vaping ones. Not once have I seen a post with name calling, petty bickering, or "OH MY GOD THIS TOPIC HAS BEEN COVERED A ZILLION TIMES, YOU SHOULD HAVE SEARCHED FIRST, D-BAG!" I mean really, who cares? New members need to be welcomed with open arms.

After all, aren't we all on our own crusade to get everyone to stop smoking? :)

Agreed. It's pretty chill here. This forum stands firmly on planet earth. Lots of devoted folks from all walks of life and vaping looking to help people out and share in something we all love.

People just starting off are going to be looking for support. Sometimes, that support can come in the form of asking stupid questions and having someone give you a straight, respectful answer. It's not always about the exchange of information. Just knowing that there are people who will help you along the way as well as people learning right alongside you can make learning less daunting and more interesting. The social element takes it from doing research to having a conversation. What started as a lone endeavor becomes a shared learning experience. That makes staying engaged that much easier and adds to a sense of community, which facilitates higher-quality exchanges of information.

If people want to learn, all they have to do is talk to people here. And when they start getting comfy and want to talk to people, they wind up learning things. See, it makes the whole process a lot more elegant.

Most people are not motivated to learn when they are made to feel like they are stupid or find themselves surrounded by people arguing because of internal politics and such. They may instead decide that vaping is beyond them or more simply not worth the trouble. And then there are the ones who outright belittle people in the name of safety or "the face of vaping." The problem with dismissing people who may do dangerous or disagreeable things is that better ideals don't propagate and important information falls on deaf ears. It is vital that people are comfortable "having the conversation" when it comes to more important matters. Fortunately, the people here do well to avoid those pitfalls.

I think everyone comes to understand something in their own way. We could have well-organized, encyclopedic stickies explaining literally everything one could possibly want to know and it still wouldn't suffice. Sometimes concepts don't stick until you have a dialogue with somebody. Things often have to be laid out in terms that fit the very specific context of what an individual does and doesn't understand. People don't want answers to questions. They want answers to their questions.

That's where VU really shines. It makes learning about a new hobby a fun and personalized experience.

I've been and gone from a lot of different forums, but I've never seen one with an overmind as healthy as this one. We're really lucky to have a community like this.

Believe me they exist, but we actually have a sub-forum for that, LOL! We also have excellent members that pretty much police themselves. This is the product of people being allowed to act like adults. VU has incredible members. Intelligent, knowledgeable in all things vape, and non-vape related. Lots of humor, lots of real people. I've rarely experienced people as generous and genuine as the vaping community.

Hey now, I've got a Toyota. Oh it's not a Tundra O. K.
LOL, I have two Toyotas as a matter of fact...

The Prius for brains, the Tundra for brawn. I know, I'm a weirdo.

Was meant more as a sick joke... I was hit(while jogging) and nearly killed by someone driving one 5 years ago yesterday.
I can tell you first hand they are pretty tough, though lol.

Sounds to me that YOU'RE tougher!! Whoa dude.
Hahaha!!! I reckon that's one way to look at it. The bitch was calculated to be driving approximately 65mph at point of impact.
Head went through the windshield, and a nice big dent in the passenger fender.

yeah I have been a member of one of the largest vape sites around but it is way strict for sure, plus many ignorant people there. Don't really have much exposure here yet since I just joined.

That's funny... lemme guess, people on ECF hate iSticks because they're relatively inexpensive mods that are user friendly. Accurate and consistent? Not always, I must admit, but that doesn't mean I don't like mine. Great little device for on-the-go.
