No, the disabling of MTP didn't work it out. Even the antivirus software being temporarily turned off, and Windows Defender being disabled didn't make things work, either.

First of all, as a guy who knows a little about code - when betas are released, it is usually to people in the operating system's community knowledge-base who may figure out a workaround; who, are also familiar with the app or program's operations within the root directory, as well as the system operations of the OS's init functions, from boot upward.

Why would SMOKTECH release a beta to end users who, a: don't know if the chipset within functions off a proprietary code specific to SMOKTECH; or, b: if it is based off of a kernel, as in Unix or Linux; or, c: something based off of another method even more archaic, like DOS?

I could go on, and on. The fact of the matter is: SMOK should've had a bug-free upgrade system ON their website, with at least a 128-bit secured socket layered encrypted system.

For the layperson: that means when the URL (uniform resource locator, or website address) begins with https:// - rather than http:// ....)

I'm 53 years old, and my fields of study were literature, and music. How do I know all of this other crap?

I picked it up along the way. SMOKTECH needs to do the same thing, whether its code, or IT. Enough of me.

LW & Liz. ;)
Is it possible that adb has borked the USB, fresh driver install for the device? You may have to manually configure the drive. Does it identity itself as the mod in control panel?

No, it has nothing to do with debugging, as that is within the nomenclature of Android phones and tablets, and it did not display itself as the SMOK CUBE X II mod, or a USB device (aside from the Windows alert sound made when the CUBE X II, or any device connected via USB).

First off, this is Senzchen, R.O.C. we're writing about - where the Internet is monitored, and restricted (though, you and I both know about proxy servers and VPNs) - I'm sure that the PlayStation generation in the R.O.C. have their workarounds...

The first thing SMOK tells you to do is remove the CUBE X II's batteries. Connect the mod to USB while squeezing the mod's vapor trigger (there's only two buttons on this puppy, underneath the OLED display - the ubiquitous + and - ...). Click on 'connect' on the pop-up in your Windows screen, then 'update'... wait a moment... then, a message pop-up reads (just like this): "No APROM file!"

I've contacted SMOK, and we'll see what happens; maybe by then, the update application will no longer be a beta - unless there's someone here at VU who has successfully upgraded their SMOK CUBE X II to Version 1.92 - like the folk in Missouri say, "Show Me."

LW & Liz ;)
I wish I could help...way over my head...maybe in another place on vape underground could help ? Someone with the same set up ?

Tofu. Blecch! I had a vegan friend of mine that whipped up a Tofu Curry with broccoli, water chestnuts, carrots and onions. "Just like steak strips," he said.

After the meal, I went to a White Castle. If you're type-1 and insulin-dependent, go for the gusto... my stomach is a pin-cushion, anyway... (LoL)...

@twizt3dfuc - good call.

It is done. SMOK CUBE X II is no longer 1.6x - it is now 1.92. Success! I installed all of AMD's current drivers, and - got an updated MTP porting kit (after the restart from the AMD driver updates). I uninstalled the old MTP, and kept the new one from Microsoft in the 'sandbox' (browser). Minimized the browser (Waterfox), after doing everything else, as this laptop began its life with us running Windows 8.1.

I also s***-canned the previous beta installer from SMOK - for my own piece of mind... and, after all was done (my fiancée's CUBE X II was updated, too) I installed the new MTP Porting Kit for Windows 10.

Yep. It was a bork. I decided to share this here, should anyone happen to be CUBE X II and TFV4 fanatics. Stainless steel coil support (SMOK even has Clapton rigs, now), and precise temperature monitoring.

Damn. Even at 50W with quad-coil heads, the vapor is immense, and the flavor is incredible. My wife-to-be is hungry - I shall feed her now - between monster vapes. ;)

She's going to be KITCHEN BOY's assistant.

Yum time.

LW & Liz :)
Glad you got it sorted out.
