Confused! Kanger Subox Nano HELP?!

hi there! I'm a newbie this forum. I need help.. Just recently got the subox nano. Been using a 0.5 ohm coil... (Which says that I can go up to 50W) but my juice tastes nasty, and metal-like... I've gone through 3 coils!! Cause I thought that was the reason! I've had it for only 1 and 1/2 weeks..... Now that I've read around, people are saying a 0.5ohm coil should be 25-30W? I'm confused.... I've been vaping the same brand of juice for about a year... (It's 50/50)In my Aspire ESP 30W and Atlantis 2 tank. But I wanted something more powerful... How can I get up to 50W on my subox? What coil do I need? Thanks in advance! -Caitlyn

Usually a metallic taste means you have a hot spot in you coil but this is clearly not the case since you tried 3 different heads.
It's possible this the e-liquid is just nasty, also some e-liquids just don't react well to high heat so you should try a different one.

Also that fact that a certain mod or a certain atomizer has a maximum possible setting, doesn't mean that you must use it at it all the time, it depends also at the way you vape, the chemical composition and the VG/PG ratio of your e-liquid.
The right way is to start low and raise your wattage incrementally till you reach your personal preferred setting.

You should let those sub-ohm coil-heads sit for about 5minutes minimum so they can have time to saturate properly. You can't just give those a few primer puffs and have at it.Sorry but like the Beatles sang "Let it be, Let it be"
And as nightshard was pointing out just cause it goes up to eleven doesn't mean you should take it that far.
Those 0.5ohm Kanger OCC coils will get you 35watts max before things go pear shaped and completely sideways. If you really just want to get to 50watts using your Nano device you're going to have to use a coil that can handle it.So what I suggest is to just get yourself a small RDA for that Nano and start buying 0.4ohm pre-wrapped coils or wrapping your own 0.35ohm coils.

Thanks for the response guys. I don't want you guys thinking I'm an idiot so... I prime my coil... And I actually "dry suck" for about an hour before I vape it at the lowest setting, in this case it's 7W. I'll do that for about 30 min and move on to double that at 14.... For about 30 min and then to 20... You get it right? After all those repeated steps and what seems like hours and hours it won't go over 30W. But anyway, okay a RDA and a 0.4 coil. I'll check that out. Thanks so much.

Did all the coils come from the same pack? Where did you purchase them from? Slowly stepping up the wattage when breaking in the coil is the right way to do it but you don't need to spend 30 min on each setting. I vape my .5 coils between 35-50 watts and never really have any problems. It's possible you got a bad batch of coils or even counterfeit ones which I have seen before. Don't feel bad, it seems like every tank is having coil troubles these days. Just another symptom of the industry pumping things out at warp speed, QC will suffer and consumers get stuck with a shitty product.

thanks so much! For your input. I get the coils from a local shop here in town.. The first coil was the one that came w the kit and then the other 2 bought on 2 different days from the vape shop I go to. Yes I get them all from the same place... Would you recommend a place to get them? Online better?
The reason why I take so much time in working my way up in wattage is because my coils will burn out fast if I do it too quickly...
Thanks so much for taking the time out to help me!

The biggest compliant i read about kanger coils is that there over packed with cotton. You could try removeing some from the top and than fluf it up from the juice holes. Jw when you bought the tank did you check if it was authentic.

I usually get mine from a local shop but also online from time to time. I recently ordered a couple boxes along with my juice order from e juice direct , hopefully they don't give me any issues. Sounds to me like you are doing everything right. Your kid is too cute, btw.

Yes I did. bought it as a kit. And the kit is authentic.

Aw thanks so much. She's my precious angel. Is that a subox mini in your profile pic? What do you think of the RDA tank? Someone on this thread told me to try it. And that's what I had in mind anyway which is funny. I was thinking about getting one. I order my stuff (mods and tanks)from myvaporstore.com you can't beat their prices and there stuff comes quick!

@Pink_Clouds Take a small thumb tack or pin and slowly work it through the juice holes gently pushing through the cotton with a small scrubbing like motion. Once you get about halfway through, do it from the other juice hole. They make the cotton so tight it strangles the juice flow, you'll know when you have it nice and fluffed out, because resistance on the pin will be minimal. When you put it back in the tank you will see a few air bubbles pop out of the juice holes. When you see this your at the sweet spot, toke away.

That is the Subox mini kit in the pic and my vapor store is my go to as well. As for the RDA, It seems like anything over 20 watts gives me burnt hits. Maybe I just suck at wicking? Who knows... I use it in a pinch but mostly use the disposables. Did your kit come with one?

@Pink_Clouds , it looks like your kit does not come with the RBA deck but will accept it. If you have never used it, it's worth the try, especially if you can find someone to PiF one to you...

PM sent.

If you want to get into building i'd go with the lemo 2. Just bc you already have the nano if you want to use pre-made coils.

This is great advice, but only on the outdated horizontal coils - I couldn't vape those at all without jabbing them with a needle first.

Kanger changed the design a few months ago, the coils are now aligned vertically. My wife says they're much better than the old ones, I wouldn't know personally since I could never get my Subtank to work above 28 watts or so and ditched it for an Arctic that I run around 45 when I don't have access to my RDAs.

I hear alot of people having problems with, I guess I got really lucky I use my as my all day on 45 watts and its a beautiful thing. I love the RBA section, Ive got a 22G Kanthal built to .3, pretty amazing.

I can put the RDA kanger mini tank on the nano right? My vape guy says that it will work. It comes w a rebuildable coil... Is that not true?
Yes, the threading should be compatible, and also yes the subtank mini does come with the RBA section.

Yes that is correct, just the tank and it will come with an RBA section. It will come with a few pre made coils, which are shit IMO. When you wick it I have a post somewhere Ill try to find it. But its what I use when vaping at higher watts. And you are most welcome, that's what the community is all about.

Trying this out is my first order of business after getting home from dinner tonight. I remember seeing it a while back but never got around to trying it. Thanks for reposting it.
Your very welcome, I hope you like it.

Instead of going through the whole cotton picking thing just give the cotton a couple pokes with a toothpick or a cake tester...just about anything thin and sharp would work better and your wick won't degrade as fast.
