First Mechanical Mod

Hi folks,
I just purchased an Oros Stealth mod and two 18490 batteries. The folks at the store sold me Uwell Crown tank. However, I am a bit confused as to whether or not this an appropriate combination. . . .

The tank comes "with (1) 0.25Ω; pre-installed dual coil head that can handle 120w of power, it will also come with (1) spare dual coil 0.5Ω; coil head and (1) spare Nickel Ni200 0.15Ω; Temp Control coil head."

It's the coils that are confusing me. Are these safe to use with the mod?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

0.15 is a no go, resistance is too low and besides mech doesn't go with nickel.
0.25 is still too low for 18490s
0.5 is a maybe, depending on which 18490 you actually have.
Why don't you a good pair of 18650s?

I actually mistyped. The mod uses 18350s.

Is there a simple way for me to calculate the resistance that I need/want?

Forget what I said before.
Oros stealth is a 18350 mod

You didn't say which 18350s you got, but they are most likely rated at around 5A which means you shouldn't go below 0.9 ohms

They are Efest IMRs. Rated at 6.4A. With that in mind, does no lower than 0.7 ohms make sense?
Yes and no, because Efest is known to post fake specs on their batteries. That said, an 18350 mech and a Crown are probably a bad combo.

That's pretty irritating that they sold me the combo. I'm going to head back to the store on my way home from the office. Any advice on what I ought to be looking for?

Maybe some other tank that can work at 1.2 ohm like the subtank or maybe a different mech that can hold a 18650 battery (and get a proper 18650 like LG HE2 or Samsung INR 25R)

And while yr at it tell the store owner he's a fucken retard.

These are exactly the reasons shop owners need to pull their heads out of their asses. Kudos to the op for asking questions here, seems like the shop doesn't have a clue. "Looks cool together and u made me a sale".

I'd say any sub-tank on a mechanical mod is just a bad idea. Will it work yeah, however it really wouldn't be safe at least not with a battery that only has a 6amp limit.

Just take it back and politely ask for your money back. Then buy the item linked below.

While I'm not a fan of subtanks on mechs (like @snake94115 mentions), I'd be looking at either a device that fires at 1.0 ohm or above or (preferably, unless you're really stuck on the tiny mod thing) an 18650 device. Mechs really seem most at home to me with RDAs or older-style mouth-to-lung RTAs.

I never considered that the original poster might indeed want something smaller with that in mind there are 3 options.

For super small just get a Novice Clone from Kidney Puncher for a measly $10** you get a mod a topper and a drip-tip

For the small bordering on diminutive I'd say go with the Nemesis Mini.Which I'm getting my wife for her first mechanical mod...She's super tiny at 4'10" and only a buck ten soaking wet.The shop down the street has these on sale currently so I'm going to pick up a RDA to go with it as well as a drip-tip and a bottle of e-liquid.I'll be walking out the door with a very happy lady and it will cost me less than dinner. You honestly can't beat that.

Or get something telescopic that way it's always going to the perfect size. :)
For a super low price telescopic mechanical mod there is no better beater than a Kamry K100., I've got 2 of these things and 1 that has taken quite the beating it even once got accidentally dropped into a barrel of pickels o.0
The other option is to get a Magneto II, Which ain't too shabby at all.

Just keep in mind you'll need to get something to put on either of those which is where I politely step out of this conversation.

** Actually the price is $9.95

I admit that using a 18350 mech with any "sub ohm" tank at high resistances is far from optimal since you will only be able to pull low wattage, too low for that kind of tank.

Personally I wouldn't use any kind of mech for that purpose.

Why did you choose a mech in the first place? A regulated mod would make more sense.

You should get like a subox combo, you could get it online around 50 60 bucks(probably double in a shop] or keep the crown and grab an I stick 50. Personally I would get an evic tvc for $30- 40 and keep the tank. Or a tesla one of you like the tube style, rechargeble and fires down to .1 I believe

I actually ended up going back to the store to swap out the mod for an 18650 mech mod. The one that they initially sold me flat out wouldn't work, period.

I'm running the crown on an Arthas mechanical mod and it is working great.

I do already kind of want to pick up a RTA though.

The original poster asked for a mechanical mod.
