So I did a single coil build in my Crown RBA , Kanthal at 0.62 ohms. For a first time I actually am impressed that I was able to wrap a coil and vape it Ha ha. Let me tell you, I don't know if I am crazy but the Taste and vapor is rocking on this RBA. I love the fact that I don't need high watts to be this satisfied, and even if I do go to 40 watts I am not getting any dry hits. The 0.2 and 0.5 stock crown coils are ok , but I am liking my build much better. Now I am really curious to try the dual RBA on my TFV4, cause if that is like this crown RBA, who needs to buy coils when you have such a great vape doing your own builds.

Congrats Phil! I'm HOPING my RBA shows up in the mail today. From the little bit that I've experienced with the Crown, I'm a happy camper, but looking forward to building on the RBA. If it didn't have one available, I wouldn't have bought the tank. I hate HATE buying coils.

Ok so I am not saying the pre made crown coils are not enjoyable , I mean we all know you can hit those crown coils really hard at super high watts, BUT this RBA is a smooth vape and I agree with you who needs to buy coils when you have the ability to make your own. I am not a chain vaped so wicking the RBA is fine with me. Good luck with the RBA, and thanks

I'm also a big fan of the vape quality of the RBA at lower watts. I'm vaping on it right now. It's at least as good, and sometimes better, than the stock coils. My main issue is that the Crown leaks whenever I top fill with the RBA. It's usually just a little, but it's frustrating. Bottom filling usually works perfectly.

i hear many people say that if they bottom fill it doesn't leak. I watched a video that was posted on YouTube that shows how to build on it and wick it so that it doesn't leak. I'm still working on it, I hope to conquer it from the RBA leaking once I get the cotton confirmed the correct way, it gets frustrating.

I've been using the RBA for the last 3 or 4 days with 2-3 bottom refills a day and the only time it leaked was on day one when I top filled by force of habit. I also rewicked it yesterday and still no leaks. It has a lot of cotton. Using it with temperature control keeps the dry hits away.

Yeah Phil, the s wick works for it to not leak. But, pancake wicking and bottom fill, the flavor is exponentially better. Been using the RBA for a month, 250mls a week.

@Zamazam what kind of wicking technique did you use?

I saw this video, I think. I haven't had a chance to mess with mine yet, but hoping to in the next couple days. I hope I get it coiled right.

I finally got this thing and a day off to ponder. Came with extra stuff! Pre-built coil in the base, thinking I won't use that. 316, not 316L listed on the contents. Is that the same as 316L? Don't think I wanna vape mystery metal. Man this is a tiny deck. Kinda of excited to try it out, but need more coffee.

It's stainless steel :) I'm still using that same prebuilt coil on mine.

316L has a bit more carbon making it suitable for welding as needed 316 is just as good inthiscase. [I Google this info]
this makes sense since crown coils have welded ends

The coil that comes with the RBA is just single 316. Uwell lists the tank as 304, and coils as 316. The Pre-built dual SS coils have nickle legs attached to the dual coils. So they are welded. It's still 316.

For SS, for our use, it doesn't really matter what SS it is. The difference in TCR is very small. Most use 304 TCR for dual coils to make up for nickle legs. In power mode it just doesn't matter. The highest SS is 430 at 155. The lowest 316 I've seen is 91. So it does matter for accurate TC, but the difference is still small. Doing a burn test is the only real way to see if your TCR is in the ball park and half way accurate.

I've had my RBA deck for a few days now, immediately threw a 26G N60/ 34G N80 gauge clapton in it. It's done fairly well. Need to rebuild now... Deciding what to try. May try a vertical clapton. Any opinions guys?

I love clapton in my RDAs but hear lots of folks like classic builds in this tank! Anyways, loving the RBA deck.

My favorite kanthal build for the Crown RBA is definitely a Clapton. So temp control my favorite build has been a normal spaced stainless steel coil. It doesn't best the kanthal Clapton for flavor but it's quite nice and the wick lasts a while longer. I can't get used to the taste of Ni or Ti so I haven't done much with them.

I've got another clapton in it.. 6 wrap not 8 this time. This deck is presenting a new challenge for me. Having to build with the legs not touching the body of the coil as it sits in there is tough with a clapton as the coil has a larger profile. I may have to go smaller ID. May re wrap right now and just get it over with. Just feels sluggish to vape on.

I 100% agree about it being hard to build larger coils and not have the legs touch the coil. I wish Uwell had offset the connection screws. I can't comfortably fit a coil that has more than 5 or 6 wraps. Even a 5 wrap Clapton is a little awkward, but once it's in there it vapes well. Now that I have two SS TC mods I'll probably stick with using plain single wire spaced stainless steel coils for the Crown RBA.
