For the OP... There is no step "up". If you like what you have keep running it. When I started vaping which wasn't that long ago, I only wanted nic and no clouds. So I didn't care about a ton of vapor. The only problem is, high nic concentration sucks, and I don't care for PG.
So I started naturally moving to lower nic and higher VG. So more vapor. Kanger tanks. Had unregulated briefly, then to regulated. Then the Kanger just wasn't cutting it. Went looking, got a Crown and a D2, then another Crown, then DNA 200... But I'm also a gear whore.
Now I'm making clouds sort of, but the vapor is just so darn good I don't care. Such good flavor, all I want without burnt dry hits or any nonsense.
So it just depends what you want. If you don't want more, don't get more. If your setup is good for you at 20watts, you don't need 120w. But the new tanks are running big low resistance coils and plenty of air for them. They need more power. Any of the new 75-80w boxes is plenty for most. I'll never run 200w on my DNA. Ever. But 80-120w... Sure.
Temp control isn't a trick. Probably not long from now it will dominate. Doesn't matter what you like... Just say 50w. Less isn't enough, more is too hot. But on big sub ohm coils it still takes a while to warm up... Say 5 seconds. But at 10 seconds now it's getting hot.
So TC will hit the coil hard until it gets to temp limit. Depending, it might hit the coil with 75w for 2-3 seconds, but then temp limit kicks in because you don't like it hotter than that. And when you are pulling, and it's up to temp, you are only using 25w. It's just a much more smoother consistent vape from start to finish. It's really nice, and it will continue to be refined and get better. But right now, it's really good. Do you need it... Well no. But we didn't used to need smart phones... But they are really nice to have.
