So to sample I've been doing 10 ml batches since they are easy to get my percentages in on. Anyways onto the question.

I normally make 2 samples of the same batch. 1 I shake and vape all day and the other I let steep. Is this odd/wasteful?

Not odd at all. 10MLs in a small number to begin with so there's no question about wasting. What you're doing is smart. Shake and vape is a good indicator of where your juice is heading and aging lets everything blend together.

From what I've read and learned, aging will only make a good recipe better, not a bad one good.

I just asked cause I've never seen word of people sampling batches at the same time.

I make both 10 ml one after the other. I shake and test the first one, if it tastes like crap I let it steep. If it tastes decent I make another 10 ml right then then let it steep while I keep testing the shake and vape one.

In my experience age can make a bad thing good, sometimes if not at least bearable for everything else. . Mainly with my strawberry. The strawberry from DIY flavor shack and I have a love hate relationship. It is a very chemically tasting flavor and letting it steep seems to mellow it out a bit. If not that then the ethyl malto should do the trick.

Shake and vape does work for most single flavoring mixture. I use a base liquid (80VG/20PG/0mg Nic pre-mix) and then Flavoring. The more flavorings you combine into your mixture to more time you want to let that blend. Shake and let sit for the day, repeat, etc... It is the general idea I use for mixing my own eJuice. Even the shake and vape eJuices that I have made have become better with time. I use a 1 flavor = 1 week theory, 2 flavors = 2 weeks.

I am sure there are other ideas and systems out there, but this is what I have been doing/using since I started mixing. I am still at a basic level/skill of mixing and have not started to 'create my own concoctions', but create a known flavor that is cheaper to DIY than purchase with a store label.

Have you tried a couple of drops of Marshmallow per 30ml? For me, I've noticed it takes the early edge off of TFA Strawberry, without entirely taking over the mix as it steeps.
