Drops per ml?

I'm new to DIY and I want to know if measuring by drops is accurate.
I use Ejuice Me Up to calculate my recipes, and its default setting suggests 20 drops = 1ml. But I can't see how that's acurate, given some bottles have spout tips and others have dropper tips.
I typically use a large syringe to measure pg, vg, and nicotine, and just measure flavors by drops from their own spout tipped bottles.

I'm worried if this is innacurate because some of my flavors are coming off either too harsh or too weak when I follow the recommended percentage.

Do yourself a huge favor and invest a tiny amount in a grams scale that measures down 0.00.it will make your diy experience much more pleasurable imho.

If not a fan of weighing, graduated cylinders that are capable of measuring the ml fractions are easy enough. Still gonna need other accessories.

I use such tiny amounts of flavorings drops will work forever for me lol and the regular dropper tips (not a dropper) are 33/34 per ml. If I get the thin dropper tips I rebottle into the regular sized dropper tipped bottles I buy by the sets of 50 lol - works for me.

The problem there was that the difference in your small sample size (2) was the exact limit of sensitivity of your scale. It really told you nothing.

It told me a lot, since I do use .25 gr of flavoring in some mixes.

The LB 501 is only accurate by .2 +/-

But you're free to assume that .01 is irrelevant. Especially since some of the advise on this thread shows me that some people think that .2 grams is irrelevant.

But god forbid you make any kind of mistake with your Nic. 15 people will chime in on how you may be doing it wrong.

Using weight or measuring by volume, consistency is what matters the most. Regardless.

Yup, but this scale also measures in grams.

It is limited to 100 grams. So I only use it for measuring flavors.

Still a nice scale, accuracy doesn't come cheap.

No, I meant... you measured two drops, the difference between them was the limit of resolution of the scale. Could be anything including rounding error of a much smaller difference.

Or did I misread the specs of the scale? It was beddy-bye time so that's a serious possibility.

Actually, I measured about 30-40. But it seemed pointless to post all the pictures.

This particular scale is only accurate to .005 which is pretty tight IMO.

I even stated within the thread the tolerances between drops where basically irrelavent for the DIY person.

I mix by drops occasionally. But, I will do a measurement of weight for X number of drops. Then use that weight for large mixes.

For instance, I use 1 drop of marshmellow per 10ml of total juice as a sweetener. If I make 240ml, it's easier to use .8ml than it is to count drops.

I'm not so anal that I want to know what 1 drop of everything I use weighs. But I don't mind checking it on the few flavors that I do use the drops per 1ml/10ml method on. Especially since I do mix large quantities of some juices.

I don't want to check the other thread or figure where I went astray, but my guess is I was only considering grams and not grains.

I'll just take that as a given and say the error was mine.

Regardless of the tolerances. You'll get more consistent mixes. Less mess, and quicker mix times.

The LB 501 is a good scale for DIY. Just be mindful of the limits. You will damage it if you go over its limits. Personal experience on that one lol

That's why I have an 11 lb scale for my large mixes. And use the Hornady for my flavors.

And I am using grams, not grains.

My problem for now is I've only just received FA bottles with the dripper tips.
I have some 40 little glass bottles from WL. Still need the pipettes as I'm not in the mood to order a few dozen little LDPEs just to rebottle them.

So the clean-up job is still there, but weight would make more sense now with having both and no easy way to get at the FA except to drip (those tops don't give in so easy).

I have some of those WL vials also, but as I measure by weight, I just my stash of glass bulb droppers from when I used to buy juice!

I can mix pretty fast, and clean up as well. but there's no getting around that task without going full dripping for weight. I'll get there.

True! But they're so easy to rinse out. I just keep a few of the glass droppers next to me and swap them out with the same bulb. That way it's just a very quick rinse when I'm done (hot water).

The ones that you can remove the bulb on easily are the best imo ... easy to sterilize without negatively affecting the bulb material.

Yup, that's what I use. I have a bunch of old Halo droppers

Those are especially nice, they even have ml markings on them!
