Disappointed in Snow Wolf 200...and a ? about 200w devices

Hi guys,

Just received the Snow Wolf 200w mod the other day. This is one with a simple small readout, not a big color version if that is out yet.

Aesthetically i absolutely love it. Feels great and stout. Just beautiful. Magnetic doors are even stout. Feels like a mod Tim Allen from Home Improvement would grunt over. Very manly.

Then I put my buddha v2 30mm RDA on it, and the thing is very hard to get it to switch to wattage mode from TC mode. There is no setting for this on the SW200 -- it detects them automatically.

One must remove the battery to reset it, then try again. Sometimes that doesnt even work. My mutation X v4 works fine though. Could be my build on the buddha.

Second "con:" after 150 watts, it goes into pulse mode. From 150-200 it just pulses instead of giving constant power. I understand the reason is batteries etc. I just did not know it did this. I have a chunky build on the buddha and wanted the option to run it at 160, 175, 180, or whatever else.

So, I do like the mod, but i'm a bit disappointed. I have the buddha sitting on my old beat-up IPV3 that goes to 165. And its not pulse mode.

TL;DR: snowwolf hard to get out of TC mode. after 150 watts it goes into pulse mode which I do not like. Is there a 200 watt mod that does not pulse at all, up to 200w? I know it would need a beefy battery.

DNA200 mods don't pulse, but then again they have 3 batteries wired in series (11.1V). If you really think about it, single 18650 mods generally top out at 75 watts. So it would stand to reason that dual 18650 mods would top out at 150 watts. If it was easy to get 100 watts from each battery, you would see single battery mods doing 100 watts.

Cheers,
Steve

PS I liked the look of the SW but because of some of your reasons along with, at least earlier versions putting themselves to sleep and requiring you to do at least 5 clicks to wake it up along with some other quirks. No Ti1 support, not upgradeable, to name a few.

So it looks like when I have the extra available money ill be getting a dna200 device next. I completely understand its due to the battery issue.

So you are planning on using 200W? in all honesty I love my DNA 200 but I have never used it at 200W accept as a test.. So its the change from TC to Wattage mode that is the main issue with the SW?

Over 150, yes. Like I said I am wanting it for a buddha 30mm RDA with a large build in it and I'd like decent ramp up times. Id say id top out around 180, but Id like to option to play around with 200 if I chose.

John,
I really think you will like the DNA200 mods, I know I do. The only drawback would be battery life running it at 180+ watts. Especially with one of the smaller 900mah Lipo batteries (don't let that fool you, it's 3 batteries in series, so it would be equivalent to a single 18650 at 2700mah).

The reason I bring this up is because Jaybo/Wismec make a DNA200 mod that uses three 18650's in series. Seems like if you want to run 180+ watts, it would be one to check out. Happy Thanksgiving!

Cheers,
Steve

Had the Reuleaux since yesterday and I absolutely love it. They also have one with a Joytech chip for under $60 depending on where you look. I have that one on preorder as well. From the reviews so far the Joytech one is supposed to be just as good just no DNA bells and whistles. It also does Ni, Ti, and SS out of the box and its upgradeable. Not bad at that price point.

Getting it to swap from tc to watt mode. After it ask new coil and you hit yes hold the fire switch down for a good 4 or 5 seconds it will swap to wattage, if that doesn't work, 5 clicks to power off and then 5 to turn on... Press fire button for 4 or 5 seconds til shows power, unless the coil is nickel that will work.
