Confused!!

I have the istick 40w.

To run at max watts (not that i plan to) what ohm coil should i use? From everything i have seen and all the graphs etc it never shows more than 10-12 watts.

So what coils can i buy "off the shelf" that can run upto 40w?

I am not in to building myself yet.

Thanks

Try a Kanger Subtank with 0.50 ohm coils.

That should make you happy!

I use it in tc mode. But just wondered as a mate has just bought a 100w.

I am also in the market for a new tank. I like the nautilus shape of the mouthpiece but want a tank that offers the options for vv and tc mode.

Any suggestions?

Unless you're looking for bragging rights ("Hey! Look how many watts I'm running!"), you're asking the Wrong Question.

Usually the goal is one-or-more of: Vapour quantity, temperature (warm vape vs. cool) or density; throat hit, mouth feel or flavour. How many watts are needed to achieve the goal is really only of secondary importance.

My eVic-VTC Mini can do up to 75W. I'd as soon stay as far away from having to use 75W to run a tank as possible ;) Right now I'm getting great flavour, clouds enough for me, good density, at just about the right vape temp. (for me) driving a Crius at 35W. Others use more. Much more.

So: Are you getting a satisfactory vape? Or do you want more of something? (I mean: Besides consuming power for the sake of consuming power.)

It's more the question of "why build a car that can drive at 100mph when the limit is 70mph".

I mean, if say a 1.8 ohm coil runs at 8.5w, why do i need 40w boxes or 100w boxes?

I am not looking to use the full 40. Just why are they available if the coils available will never use the 40?

As i say, i use tc mode. So i realise the box is use full 40w to reach temp quicker etc. Just in vv mode I'm confused.

In tc mode i get good vape and flavour.

In vv mode at 1.8 ohm at 8.5w (4v ish) i get rubbish vape and flavour with some juice and good vape and flavour with others.

Because not everywhere in the world is the speed limit 70 MPH, and because some people don't care to obey speed limits ;)

I don't know if there are pre-made coil heads that can be driven by 40W, but your mod can certainly be used on other tanks.

Most of the quality sub ohm tanks made by top manufacturers will have .2, .3, .5 coils that will handle regular mode (power) and usually lower ohm coils for TC. You can switch coils depending on the vape your looking for. Might look into Sense, Horizon, Smok, Kangertech, Innokin, Etc. All make good tanks that can do both power and TC modes.

If you are happy using Temperature Control why even bother fiddling with Variable Wattage?
Just stick to what you like and be happy.
Oh and I have that iStick VTC 40W...Trust me it's under-powered.Using the same tank & coil + e-liquid I get a way better vape on my Pegasus.

What kind of tank are you using, and where are you getting these charts? If you're on an older-generation clearo that runs 1.8 ohm coils, you probably won't ever need to top 10 watts...and you wouldn't be using TC with this type of tank either.

Cheers all. As i say, i use tc mode. I have the eleaf gs tank with a 0.15 ohm coil.

Using 70vg/30pg with 6mg nic.

All is great with it. I am just wondering if i had a vv mode coil if i might prefer.

This is why i want to change to a tank that can handle both. I can the try vv mode with it and if i dont get on with it i can just swap coil and go back to tc mode.

The charts i just find on google posted on some forum sites etc.

You current tank can handle both TC and VW already you don't need another tank,However you will need different coils if you want to try the tank in VW mode.
Just buy some GS Air Coils or get the GS Air Organic Cotton Coils both are available from Sweet-Vapes for less than $10 for a five pack.

Keep in mind that iStick TC 40W is under-powered you might want to think about upgrading it at some point soon.
Here's some options...
Smaller Affordable Mod = Evic VTC Mini
Larger Affordable Mods = Pegasus or Evic VTC
Expensive Best in Class Mods = Yihi SX Mini or LAVABOX

Also keep in mind and repeat as necessary : "I will not buy a Provari! I will not buy a Provari!"

I don't know much about your current tank, but a little google-fu makes it appear this is strictly for TC. Most any of the other subtanks out there right now will have multiple coil options available for both power and TC mode. Each coil has its own recommended wattage range depending on the build inside. That coil and your vape preferences are what is going to determine what watts you would like to use. There is no set standard, the only limitations are your device and the coil itself as far as wattage is concerned. Might I suggest maybe an Atlantis tank or Subtank mini as they have options for both coils well within your devices specs.

Cheers kryptic. I had looked at the nautilus but doesn't appear that it will handle tc mode.

Will look up the atlantis.

Cheers

Atlantis has Ni200 coils for your TC needs and has a few options for wattage mode. The key is finding which one fits your vaping style. There is a .3, .5 and 1.0 ohm coil that I know of.

Problem is the vape shops around here aren't prepared to spend time helping. They wanna sell you a £70 mod, £35 tank and £15 juice without asking any questions of what u want/need/like.

Got a couple of mates who vape, but they have just ordered their stuff online based on what others they know have used.

Hence asking questions here.

Yup, I know the problems with vape shops well. I looked into the atlantis coils a little more. With the device you have, there is 2 options for coils that are not TC. 1) .50 ohm coil-recommended 20-30w 2)1.0 ohm coil-recommended 40-50w I see if I can find the thread on here but Atlantis coils also fit a wide range of tanks. I have some in a Herakles tank right now. So that being said you don't even have to get an Atlantis tank to use them.

Right, but remember you dont have any options for your current tank. Take caution to not attempt to run a TC coil in wattage mode. Visit the trading pit you can probably pick up a tank to suit your needs for a few dollars.

Actually the Nautilus originally was not a TC tank but you can now get coils TC coils for it.Just keep in mind what I said earlier you don't need a different tank. What you have will be fine for variable wattage just pick up either of the coils I mentioned earlier.
If you really want an Atlantis I recommend the Atlantis Mega it's massive though at 30mm and it holds 5ml of e-liquid.
