Vape settings for accurate cigarette pull

Hi again! I just lit up a cigarette just to get the feeling of smoking again and I found that when I started vaping, I started doing Direct To Lung puffs whereas with cigarettes, I used to do Mouth To Lung puffs.

To get the accurate sensation of actually smoking a cigarette, I discovered that I had to keep the air vent on my tank (Triton 2) nearly closed. The vent size should be about as small as the diameter of a needle. This allowed me to do Mouth To Lung pulls again.

The problem is, I don't seem to be getting enough of a hit down the throat as I did with cigarettes. There's just the right amount of "clouds" produced as compared to the "smoke" produced when exhaling smoke from a cigarette. This leads me to a couple of questions:

1. Is it safe to keep the opening of the air vent on the vape this small?

2. Will this lead to juice leaks via the air vent since I tend to suck/pull more with my mouth?

3. What wattage can you guys suggest to give me enough throat hit while also maintaining the safety of my setup (I'm afraid I might burn the cotton, juice coming up from the drip tip and into my mouth or mess something else up)?

Please keep in mind that I'm trying to simulate the pull from a cigarette as closely as possible via Mouth To Lung puffs.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hello there,
Close the airflow to your liking,
And BTW what NIC MG?
And what is ur VG/pg juice ratio?
Adjust the wattage to ur liking, is it safe?? Yes
Sucking too hard, here we go again!!
You will end up sucking juice to ur mouth, like what I said last night
Smooth, and let the vapor come to ur mouth then to ur lung....
You can't really VAPE ur TANK Like a STINKIES, there's other tanks out there...
Restricted airflow tanks
KAYFUNS,taifuns, and a lot more.. Sub ohm tanks are design to chuck CLOUDS... You might wanna check the subtank mini.. Or if you wanna really go old school
EVOD TANKS are the best ones that will mimic the stinkies, this are cheap and still available..

Are you using heavy VG e-liquid with low nic.?

Make sure your nicotine content is high enough also. Too low and you won't get any satisfaction, too high and you'll feel a little nauseous!

Thank you, Amanda! Will try a 6mg nicotine level. So far, my current juice is only at 3mg. Bumping that up a tad might give a sufficient hit.

Hi pulsevape! Which tank would you suggest? I do have a 1.8ohm coil which came with the tank but it's rated at 10-13w only. Is it okay to go above 13w, say 20-25w?

Why do you need to go over 13 watts on a 1.8 ohm clearo?

The way you're planning to vape, might require to stay low on the power. However, I don't see a problem going over 13W if needed. It will depend a lot on your e-juice, and the heat, due to the closed off airflow. You'll have to find your sweet spot. So start low, and raise the power, until you find your sweet spot, without getting dry/burnt hits.
FYI, I went to 35W with a Kanger Subtank coil, which was rated to max 30W, without any issues.

Sorry to reply just now as I just got back from a business trip. However, I've found my sweet spot with my .5 coil. Air vent is halfway open and I vape my 6mg white nectar at 20-38 watts depending on the time of day and what I'm doing. I find that pressing the fire button a couple of secs before I vape gives me a better throat hit. Not an accurate cigarette pull but I love the throat hit. Almost fnished my 60ml white nectar juice in a week.
