Anytime I have ever burned plastic, rayon, acrylic, anything man made it had a plastic smell to them. This is toxic. Just about anything you burn will have an order to it but if it has that man made plastic smell you can bet that is toxic. This is why Phil and many others are unsure about it.

It's wood pulp. There is no plastic involved. Try burning it yourself and you'll see. And check out that thread I linked to!

I'm way too lazy to dig up the links myself!

For the administrative unit of some post-Soviet states, see raion.
Rayon is a manufactured regenerated cellulose fiber. It is made from purified cellulose, primarily from wood pulp, which is chemically converted into a soluble compound. It is then dissolved and forced through a spinneret to produce filaments which are chemically solidified, resulting in synthetic fibers of nearly pure cellulose.[1] Because rayon is manufactured from naturally occurring polymers, it is considered a semi-synthetic fiber.[2] Specific types of rayon include viscose, modal and lyocell, each of which differs in manufacturing process and properties of the finished product
Note this sounds worse than what I even knew about it.

After reading what I wrote and seeing this video wood pulp is not even existing after the process it becomes something else. Mostly chemicals. kinda reminds me of the ingredients they put in ciggs lol. Seriously, I would not vape this after seeing the above.

It just depends on ones understanding of chemical processing many things are processed and if their is no residue than that is great but that is not the case with Rayon there is residue on Rayon.. One of the benefits of not smoking was removing so many chemicals from thousands to a much lesser number. I am very surprised that the Media has not caught up with the fact some are using Rayon for vaping they will have a hey day and rightfully so. There are so many problems wth Rayon and just the contact with the human body wait until they find out some are using it as a medium to inhale vapor.. That will not be good.. If you look back one of the reasons people suggest Japanese cottons was to remove the bleaching process in cotton because you
can taste the residue left over in the bleach process. With Rayon this is ignored and for only one reason which is more disturbing than anything. at one time they bought a box from Sallys and now they will justify that lifelong purchase.. For me its a health issue and scares me to death to think some ignore the science on Rayon.. IHMO

Yeah ... Britannica film from 1949. Good source.

It seems that level heads and modern science prevail on this one.
has not changed at all the chemical process is the same.. Same as when your Daddy squirted you out that has not changed as well..

Are you stating they have changed the chemical process since then? and if not what has changed on this process to make it safer besides words.

Considering most hospitals use it during surgery because it wicks better than cotton I guess everyone who had surgery is going to die from rayon poisoning.

As opposed to hydrogen peroxide.
HO2 vs HO = I'll take the extra oxygen.
I'm also a big fan of Dihydrogen Monoxide I drink several glasses a day.

There were many of items they have used in surgery that are not in use today because they found it to be unsafe. You hear this on tv everyday.

Well than I am already fucked....lol I remember back in the late 80's early 90's during my Rico Suave era silk was expensive and wore Rayon like crazy. The damage is done and have revised my will accordingly.

That truly is one of the research studies its easily found on Google.. addiing Dioxin is not good. But you surely did hit it on the head its intended purpose was to wear on your body.. Not to use it as a medium to inhale a liquid...

haha its all good. For me this battle is not even about Rayon its about a mindset. On one side out out mouths we are toting the benefits of vaping by reducing chemicals in cigarettes and on the other side we are adding more by using questionalbe material.. Its a logic issue nothing more

The bottom line is to defend a stance one should be prepared to defend it no matter of the difficulty in the endeavor if one believes there is significant scientific proof to alarm others. I do not take offense I am just alarmed if one just makes simple comments that only show a persons lack of deep though and research :) And at times having fun with those intellectually challenged is fun

Untrue.

ETA: Mine is the purest white but I feel like an idiot feeding the troll. I'm out.
Probably you would noticed if you watched the video they take the black goo and add acid to make a stringy substance that looks light in color then in order to get the substance white like yours is it would be bleached.

One is cotton, one is rayon and I'm sure the cotton version is chock full of bleach and other stuff you wouldn't care about if it is being used for coloring your hair.

I would think it is, those look like a thin rayon version of a J-cotton pad. Interesting. Post your opinion on it if you do order some.

Edit: looks like there are sterile surgical grade rayon balls as well.

44070 is 'reinforced' 100% rayon. I have no idea how they reinforce it, but IMO as long as it's 100% rayon you're good to go. I use the 44060 which is not reinforced, just says 100% rayon.

There is some Cellucotton made that has plastic fibers in it. I would avoid those :)

That is an amazing offer and I absolutely appreciate it, there is a sally's pretty close and this is fairly cheap I'll just pop in and grab one of the smaller bags for a tester.

@fq06 do you have a link to the 100% Rayon from Sally's? All of the ones on their site say 100% cotton.
