Married Batteries

I will be receiving my Reuleaux DNA 200 today but the LG HG2 batteries that I ordered will not be here until tomorrow. I have 4 Samsung 25R's that I bought at the same time and always used in one mod, rotating them with each charge. Would it be okay to use 3 of those batteries that have been charged completely in my regulated charger until I get the LG's ? Don't want to mess anything up but wanted to try it out tonight. Call me impatient.

Yes its fine the difference in the cells is minimal and no tow batteries are every 100% matched you can get close with higher end chargers and then matching cells but with the small deviation in the batteries it does not matter

Thanks for the info. I also thought that since they were bought at the same time and used evenly that it shouldn't be a problem however, the Reuleaux will not be here till Saturday anyway, I looked at the wrong tracking number. The batteries will be here on Friday so I am good to go. Thanks again.

There is no such thing as married batteries.
This was nothing more than an anal retentive panic attack started by the paste-eaters.

Isn't it advisable in multiple battery devices to keep sets together and not use them singly in other devices though? That way they have somewhat the same performance and same charge cycles? Or does it not really matter? I thought this was standard practice in all multiple battery devices.

Well call me a sucker, I bought into the whole 'married' batteries thing and took it as gospel. Shoot.

edited to add: So here's the rub. I have a dual battery device that'll run just fine on a single battery - been doing so for a while now, since I screwed the pooch on a specific "married" pair I bought and used exclusively in the device and shorted them out. So those are gone and the device has been replaced with a new one. I've got a ton of 18650's of many brands, and a lot of them bought in groups of 4 at a time - but I've never bought another specific Pair of batteries to Marry to one another since shorting the first pair out. Am I reading this right that they should be fine to run together? Like... like wild-oat sowing floozies?!

The main reason you hear people going on and on about married bats is because of the over all life of the batteries. They need to be the same so they charge and discharge together. I am unaware of any real damage that can come such as venting etc.

now with some battery chargers you can get batteries that are very close to the same output in Mah you can discharge them refresh them etc.. I have done this it is madness my battery chargers do this and I still do it for no other reason then to do it.

Should probably look at getting something a little more... substantial in the charger department. My Intellicharger i4 is nice, efficient but basic as pumpkin spice.

By the way, next time ya' run into the 'married batteries' crowd,
ask 'em why, when depleted, your + contact battery always has less voltage remaining in than your - battery.


Wait... that sounds like actual marriage.

i dont understand what youre saying here. my positive battery contact and negative battery contact are always the exact same- identical voltage. this is true in both of my dual 18650 devices. one is series, the other is parallel.

Interesting! I was browsing through chargers this morning and settled on the Xtar VP4 as a front runner - now, Amazon's got a lot of positive to say about the Opus and it's got me kind of reconsidering. Do you own either of these, or have any experience using them?

Well the xtar cannot do what the opus can. I fact it's not much different than what you are ditching

Yup, looking further into it, I'm going to probably go with the Opus. It does quite a bit more.

edit: Funny enough, I may get it for leaving in the garage - as functional as it may be, I can't have no loud-ass fan sitting in my bedroom whirrin' away 24/7 - that'd drive the missus nuts.

Just picked up an Opus 3400 myself on Fleabay ($47'ish). If it works as well as advertised I'll be stoked.

The new Opus 3100 v2.2 has a redesigned fan. Supposedly much quieter. Gearbest has them on sale for 33.12 free shipping for the next 2 days.

The 3400 is just a rebrand of the 3400 V2.1 for a specific dealer. So the 3100 v2.2 is supposed to be the latest version to date.
