Watching. See my thread about the evic mini with SS Temp control. I've gotten some good advice. I'm a little fuzzy on what the TCR for 304 SS is, so maybe we'll find out. I will tell you what I was told regarding wattage with TC - Your wattage dictates how quickly you reach you temp limit. Right now, I'm in the learning stages, too.

I'm using prebuilt, though. Not building my own, so you're probably looking for different info.

From what I have been told, yes that's true to a point. On some mods, you can use too much wattage. An excess of power will shut it down pretty quick. Like an engine sputtering. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, I'm sure, but in general more watts gets you to maximum set temp faster.

I wouldn't consider 50 watts excess though, depending on the particular coil.

Single coil will need less watts, dual or more coils will need more. I run at a minimum of 45w for a 0.4 single coil rda build and 70w for a 0.3 prebuilt triton coil.

As said, think of watts as speed to get up to temp.

If you set it at 100w and 100c it will get up to 100c immediately and level out at that temp.
If you set it to 40w it will get to 100c but much slower than if you set it to 100w.
You can set it to 200w and it will still get to 100c and hold the temp there but at that high of a power setting it may overshoot 100c for a second and then it will have a noticeable pulse trying to keep temp down at 100c with a 200w setting.

100c as an example, didn't google C ratio to F. I run 450°f to 510°f

I set 170w for a test, and 200c. It burns like hell. But if i set 50w and 200c is ok

Try 70w and 100°. Adjust temp up or down to your liking.
The 50w \ 200° is probably fine because 50w can't get the coil up to 200°.
