Thinking of switching mixing method

Hey all. So for about 2 years now I have mixed using syringes. I hear mixing with a scale is faster, easier, and better. Well can anyone help point me in the right direction of how to mix by weight. I have all my juice recipes in percentages. This will cause a variation (in my mind) because each liquid (pg vg nic and flavorings) has a different weight per volume. Volume is measured equally so 15 ml of any liquid is 15ml so percentage is easy. Also, what equipment do you use. I assume i will need a beaker and scale maybe more. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Squonk hit the nail on the head, that's the thread I used and has increased my enjoyment of mixing immensely.

I don't even bother with a beaker. I mix directly into the bottle.

It was that thread that finally got me into DIY. I held off for the longest time because I didn't want to deal with always buying cleaning a bunch of syringes. You can mix up a bottle of juice in a matter of minutes with NO clean up.
jlw917 is right about the Ejuicemeup calculator. http://ejuice.breaktru.com/

The Recipe Calculator that BotBoy made is the shiznit, I haven't touched ejuicemeup since switching over: https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/threads/new-calculator-to-try.480587/

he makes a lot of updates as well and there is an option to keep your files on dropbox or another cloud and open your recipes from another comp using the same program. I haven't tried that last feature though.

My favorite things are making labels for your bottles, shows the price your recipe cost to make and inventory control and reduction after you make a recipe.

I can't believe it is this easy honestly it sounds simple. I made 2 15ml bottles last night after finding a few things that migh enhance 2 recipes i had. It took me a half hour to setup and mix and another 15 minutes boiling syringes that have the numbers wearing off. I am ordering that scale unless someone knows of a cheaper one but im doubting it. Thank you squonk and vu friends. Any tips trick and other advice let me know. Btw i use my own calculator and webserver so i have recipes on all devices i am gonna try to modify mine but until then i am going back to eliquid recipe.com for weights.

Takes me 10-15 Minutes to mix up 120ml with 8 or more different flavors. Most of the time I spend looking for the flavors. :) Need to hang up the shelf I bought for that. :)

I'm thinking of getting the scale that's mentioned in the thread. The one I got is only 100g and has the read out is on the right hand side, so while I pour my hand gets in the way of the read out. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005UGBG20...lid=243KGUKIKVMXH&coliid=I2ANMSWWBV7ZQW&psc=1
I should have just bought it in the first place.

I think a lot of people over think mixing. I take a clean 10 ml syringe with no plunger, while holding my thumb over the bottom hole I drip to my measurement, squirt it in the bottle and repeat for next ingredient. I don't measure VG. I know what size bottle I am mixing in, so I simply add VG last and fill the bottle. I can mix a 10 - 120 ml using 5 or less flavors in under 2 minutes. Dripping the flavors into the plunger end of the syringe, does not contaminate anything, and you don't have to rinse the syringe, because it is all going in the same bottle.

I agree it used to be that easy for me but i began noticing big differences in recipes and realised i cant be accurate with volume measurement on a small scale. One drop extra in a 15ml bottle can mean a percentage change. I noticed this after one of my good juices went horribly wrong. With weight though the difference is clearly measured.

Oh wow, they dropped the price on that scale, I think it was $30 when I got it. For that price I am tempted to buy a 2nd one for a back up while I still have prime for a week more.

I reload ammunition as well, and have scales that will measure grain, or grams to .01, and have tried it. I can't tell a difference in flavor, and it is much slower. One drop off on a 30 ml bottle is like .166666% of a flavor. A given volume of liquid will change weight as it heats or cools, so to be accurate your going to need to know the specific gravity, temperature, and have a scale that is accurate to .01 to be exact. I am not arguing that measuring by weight is less accurate, it is indeed more accurate. I just don't think it's required, or worth the trouble unless it is going to go boom.

I just put it in my cart along with some new grips for my bike to get the $35 free shipping. Now to talk myself into hitting the check out button. Hmmm.... lets see..... My grips ARE pretty well worn out. Hmmmm. The scale was $26 when I added it to my wish list. Hmmmm... And it does come with calibration weights. Hmmmm. What to do? What to do?

I agree. I am trying to make ny juice more acurate for better adjustment. To each their own and i am glad on this forum we can agree to disagree and have a vape all the while.

It doesn't matter, what the current temperature is. All of the liquids you're mixing together, usually have the same temperature. Therefore, you equally weigh more, or less weight of the according liquids, you're mixing.

Mixing by Volume
STEP 1:

...I take a clean 10 ml syringe with no plunger, while holding my thumb over the bottom hole I drip to my measurement...
STEP 2:
...squirt it in the bottle and repeat for next ingredient...

Mixing by Weight
STEP 1:

Squirt flavor in bottle, until proper weight is reached, and repeat for other ingredients.

So, which is faster?

Hmm, 79 drops(or squirting) of flavoring directly into the top of a bottle sitting on a scale without touching it, knocking it over, or missing it?
(especially with the VG base part later)
Don't think I'm coordinated enough, shaky hands sometimes.
Syringe is easy for me cause I just jab the dropper tip right inside the top of the 1ml syringe.
Then jab the syringe inside my mix bottle.
Smaller measurements I just use drops from the dropper tip 1-5 drops.
(Scale might work good for measuring the smaller flavoring amounts tho)

Got one for X-mas to try it out anyhow, (SF-400C from Ebay).

Well, I just did my first mix using a scale, not too bad for the first time, lol.

But I did overshoot with my first flavor, and I put some back and redid it.
If you blow it after the first flavor your SOL tho.
Just used my syringes for PG & VG.

If you have a Micheal's near by these are good for VG, nice and cheap. http://www.michaels.com/10265132.html#start=39
For PG I use these, but you can probably find them on Amazon. They have a great lid seal. https://www.fasttech.com/products/2081400
For NIC I just use a 30ml glass dropper bottle.

I'm using the 235ml twist top squirt bottles I got from Mt Baker Vapor a long time ago.
PG & VG amounts don't need to be exact so a 10ml syringe still works fine, I just top fill the syringe.
Scale may be the best for repeatability with the flavorings tho.
Although I was counting drops and they came out almost perfect in the mix I just made.
More mixing to do now tho, lol.

I tried the syringe method when I first started DIY but once I got a scale it was game on for sure! Made mixing more of an enjoyable practice rather than the tedious work of cleaning syringes every time I mixed something. I do still use a syringe for the nicotine but cleaning one is no big deal.

Made a mix with some alcohol based flavorings and it wouldn't even register on my scale.
3-4 drops:confused:.
I suspect that flavoring bases other than PG must be lighter???
Still a noob with scales, lol.
