@Gina http://www.3fvape.com/mechanical-mo...html?search_query=4099&results=1#.VoMRrhUrLWI

So a few weeks ago I ordered the Quad Mechanical Clone off of 3FVape.com and just got it in yesterday and just tryed it today. And the damn thing destroyed my batteries and itself!

Anyways I got it yesterday (12/28/2015) and was in love. It looks beautiful and feels great in the hand. The one thing that I did notice is that the top is very very stiff to side on and off. Like you had to force it to get it off.

So I put in my batteries (Samsung 25r5's so not shit batteries at all) positive side up like your supposed to do in a parallel mod. As I screwed in the second contact on the bottom of the mod both of my damn batteries start venting and the mod gets super super hot. Oh and to add to the lovely experience the top of the mod is stuck so I cant take the batteries out or anything.

If you think that I did something wrong let me know.

I see tw insulator melted. I am wandering if that is where the short initiated? Faulty manufaturing maybe. You did say both batteries were in right correct? I dont think a battery bein in wrong would cause a quick vent. Something tells me there was a dead short. Wlbare wire or insulator or possibly a solder joint. The only thing that bugs me is that insulator melted so fast.

Yah its a parallel mod so both positives go in the mod facing up. I had both batteries in right. Ive got zero idea why it melted or what caused the failure.

Also theres no solder joints its milled out of a solid chunk of aluminium and it being fully mechanical theres no wires

How low was the build ? I've built as low as .08 ohm and never melted an insulator before. Could be shit plastic !

Damn.
Ive actually used a Quad clone before with no problem.

You put the batteries in right from what you said, were they tight? All I can think is that the wrap tore and caused a short and venting.

Only time I ever vented a battery was on SMPL clone that didnt have the little collar milled into the top cap to prevent shorting, fiddled with the button w/o an atty screwed in and the battery welded itself to the tube. Glowed red for a second around the connector, was glad there wasnt a Kaboom lol.

Werr the batteries hard to put in because the toleranced were too tight is what i meant.

Maybe even a burr in the battery tube.

Nope they slid right in no issues with the batteries. What was tight (and this is with or without the batteries in) was the top assembly. The part the has the 510 and button was tight to fit onto the body.

The Quad I used wasnt bad at all, kinda a weird design, but original for sure.

All I can think of atm is a battery wrap was damaged in some way or it isnt a 1:1 and it created a loop without an atty on it.

Maybe @Robert B or @OBDave know of some ongoing problem with the Quad/ Clones that Ive never heard of.

thats what my guess currently is because they vented as soon as i screwed in the second contact.

Research always helps to make an intelligent choice when buying anything really but especially a quality mod within your budget.. ..there lots of great mods, of better quality than you obviously bought, out there if you'd take the time to do a little research first.. Just a thought,

I see that, but how many different mods did you research before deciding on this one? Look, I'm not trying to put you down or give you a hard time here, but you could've made a better choice..
Ask others on this forum what mods they might recommend..Google and YouTube are great places to learn more too...Shorts and venting batts are dangerous, not only to you but to others around you...Personally I've never had a device short or vent a batt in the 4 yrs I've been vaping..including my mechs....learned about ohms law and batt saftey and asked alot of questions on forums like this one, when looking for a quality device that has good performance and a excellent saftey record that meets my needs and within my budget...bottom line is to know what you're doing, use common sence and vape safe...glad you didn't get hurt or burn your damn house down with those venting batts...take care,

It was actually at a local place called Jasons Juice Joint so idk if you google them if they have a website or not.

They had one set up with a Tobh clone to test juices on, I used it probably 2 dozen times without a problem and changed batts on it twice.

It was honestly a neat mod and hit ok, I always try and find mods that either have silver contacts available or are hybrid nowdays.

I prefer my Nemi and KSS atm, getting a Phenom soon.

I want a Parallel box at some point, just hate those dome buttons on the HexOhm and Tuglyfe, though I think the boxes themselves are bitchin.

Almost looks to me in this picture, that the positive contact on the one battery side looks too close to the edge of the mod frame, which is the neg side. Is it possible the battery shorted out right there? Also, it looks like your 510 contact pin is missing, which may have caused the battery to contact the neg side of the circuit.

Good catch, I figure it bridged/ looped and vented somehow, looks like either of those things could have very well caused it.

No in the pics i had removed the pins and all the contacts at the bottom. All of that was in during the venting/short. I just wanted to remove anything that i could to prevent anything form happening again.
But wait a min.... Where your saying the short is also is the place in my picture that shows burning and melting. See the third pic.

Also just looked at some pics of the Authentic Quad..... theres paint covering the area around the insulator which would help prevent this....

This is exactly what I was thinking when I first saw your pics.
The only way you get an instant venting situation like you described would have to be a dead short and I also think the positive terminal dead shorted in this spot.
This IS NOT user error it is a manufacturers error.
I would be extremely pissed off, wanting a quick refund, and be thankful that it wasn't worse.

Im currently waiting on a reply from CFvapes customer support. ill be linking them this thread if they have an issue with it! I also tagged there forum rep at the start of the thread also.

My thing is if the require me to return it to them. I wont be able too because of the stuck batteries in the mod. I cant get them out at all. Fasttech got in a lot of trouble recently because of this and i cant afford the fines.

A few photos should be all they need.
I would be sure to mention that the mod is now unsafe to ship or even handle for that matter.

I did get a reply from your customer service team. I also linked them to this thread and to the link with the pictures in it. I just wanted you to be aware that there does seem to be a problem with one of the products that you are selling. It really is unsafe to use those specific clones for the reason that @Robert B outline above, as that is exactly what occurred.

Now in the email they asked for a video of the product. Will this thread and the pictures be enough for them? Or because its stuck to i need the video?
