So I understand how to build my coils and everything but what I don't understand is how to make sure it's safe....

I've built a dual parallel 24g 7 wrap, now once I had my mod built at a shop I had used it for a couple weeks and figured it's time to change the coils, I took one coil off and was curious of the amount of ohms it was pulling so I looked it was pulling about .51 ohm.

Now when I put my two 24g 7 wrap coils on I'm reading about .37 - .32 ohm and I don't know what's safe so please help me understand how many ohms I should be allowed with 2 icr18650 2500mAH and what is safe. I'm using a tugboat unregulated box mod.

1. Moving this thread over to the Coils sub.

2. Highly recommend you check out my "sick clouds bro" thread in the "Help I Have Questions" sub - lots of stuff for people using mechs who don't necessarily understand mechs.

3. Your coils can last quite a while, usually, I re-wick and dry burn my coils clean a couple times a week and they'll usually last a month or more - if you're just a tinkerer and like to change your coils more often than necessary, that's fine and lots of people do it. But it shouldn't be necessary.

4. If you're wrapping 7 times around a 2.5 mm rod, you'll use less wire and thus have a different resistance when wrapping around a 3.0 mm rod, for instance. Counting wraps is one thing to do when building coils, but it's not the only thing to pay attention to. Steam-engine.org is your friend in guesstimating resistances before you actually start to build.

5. No idea what kind of batteries you have - we need to know the manufacturer and model, or we need to see a pic if you're not sure how to figure that one out. This is probably the most important of your concerns to address.

Be careful with what you put on there for a build - from what i can find, they have a very low continuous amp pulse level,

I wouldn't even suggest using them sub-ohm, even in a parallel mech. At least according to this thread on Reddit

If these are the batteries in question and they're really 5A, I wouldn't even install them in anything you're going to vape out of, period.

And maybe you used a 2.5 mm pin to wrap on this time, but did you use the same one last time? My point about different coil inner diameters leading to different resistances would mean we'd need to know the inner diameter of both coils, not just the new ones. Also, if the coil legs are longer or shorter it can affect resistance, though not as much as you're apparently seeing.

The more important point is that your batteries are not safe to use and you need some rated for 20A before you attempt to vape a mech again.
