Alright guys, so I've got an IPV3 Li and an unregulated series box with multiple tanks, a couple drippers, and a Buddha v2 for the series box. Unfortunately they all are rather large and vapor production makes them kinda stand out. Being that I work at a dealership as a quick change tech I don't always have the time to step out back to vape, so I'm looking for a good stealth setup. Now, our work shirts have pockets that fit the IPV3 Li rather well, so thats the biggest I can go. I'm looking at either the Council of Vapor Mini Volt for the small footprint, or the iStick 40w TC so I can run in Ti mode. I have both a Mutation XS and a derringer clone to use. Open to opinions and other suggestions.

For size, seems to me the COV Mini Volt may be your best bet, IMHO. But not enough info on it right now to know if it's worth it or not.

My biggest concern is that, since it sleeps in 10 seconds, what is the lag time from sleep to vape once you press the fire button.

My stealth rig is a 20w istick mini with a eleaf gs 16s tank with a gs air base running 36mg juice. It keeps vapor low but still gives me my nic fix. Here's a pic next to a standard istick 20.

mini.jpg

I got a COV Mini Volt in the mail today. It is just a hair bigger than the istick mini but does have a bigger batt.

My iPV D2 is tiny, but it is built and performs well. I'd personally go for the D3 if I was in the market for another compact single 18650.

I have a D3 with the haze RTA on top. It is pretty damn small.

I will also say the IPV D2/3 is a good choice. Real small and stealthy with plenty of power.

D2 is plenty small for me, but that COV is downright itty bitty! Still huge compared to the eGo 350 with Evod I'll on rare occasion bust out and load with some 18 mg when I really want to go stealth, like at sporting events...

Get one of the regulated Aspire "pen" style mods and stick a Nautilus Mini on it. Not much bigger than an ecig and totally stealthy if need be in terms of vapour production.

Istick 20w is very cute and small, but, only a matter of time before the thread strips...

Its sacrilege to speak of the Goblin Mini in such a manner :p

Nice setup, I was running that exact same one for awhile.
I have to admit I was using a clone, which I regret because It totally killed this rta for me. But I wont buy any bottom fill stuff anymore, its 2016 ffs :D

I had the goblinv2 which was much better in flavor and vapor quality I think but maybe its just the shitty clone, the threads are a joke and its not wicking properly because the chimney is not airtight, but yeah I saved 10 bucks, really worth it :( note to greedy-me: dont buy clones of UD products, not worth it

Lol, right. UD is probably about as cheap as you can get and stay authentic.

IF I was shopping for a stealth mod right now? I would look at the Vape Forward Vapor Flask Lite. Looked at it at a shop today side by side with a D2 and D3 and it's not much bigger. Pretty sweet looking device. The menu was similar to the Reuleaux. 75w. I wish I could afford one.

3 in the hand... but I prefer the one in the bush.

I use the COV with a Goblin Nano (right)... about as small as you'll get in a VW box mod with a tank.
However, for serious stealth, I go with either the Stingray with Derringer (center), or the LPG with Derringer (left)...

How much juice does that goblin nano hold?

It doesn't hold a hell of a lot... couple ml's I think. It's enough to walk around and stealth vape without having to stop and drip. I picked it up basically for out and about, running errands and such. Paired with the COV mini, I'd probably kill the battery before killing the reservoir.
As others have mentioned, it's a bottom fill with a TINY screw hole. Basically, you need a syringe with 20ga or smaller needle to fill the thing, so (for example) you're not going to refill it in the dark in a movie theater.
I'm actually thinking of picking up a second Goblin. When they're built well, they produce decent vapor and don't leak. Rather than try to refill it on the road... it would be easier to simply pop a second tank from my pocket (also allows swapping between a couple flavors).

Right now I have two mimivolts, one topped with a Pico, and the other with mini vengeance. I take both to work with me so I can use the Pico during the day the vengeance on breaks. With both in rotation I get a nice full workday out them

I REALLY like the look of the Pico... how's your experience with it so far? Looks a LOT easier to build than the Goblin!

As for the Vengeance, I'm about done with any tank that requires me to buy coils. Last tank I bought was a Cubis (I really like the cup design), but I waited until the rebuildable coil set became available. Bear in mind that I have no "ADV"... just current favorites (which will change in a couple weeks when I get sick of them). So many juices seem to require a specific wicking, coil and burn profile to bring out the flavors, so I prefer to experiment until I get it "just right". I've had bad luck relying on a factory to (hopefully) produce the optimal coil and wicking. In a relatively short time vaping, I've had far too many factory produced coils that leak, dry hit, gurgle, or simply make good juice taste crummy.

Another vote for the D2/3. The mini volt is obviously a bit smaller, but I like having the option to swap batteries on the fly. A 1+ohm build at ~20W should keep you fairly "stealthy" with short pulls. Then you have the ability and power to put something else on when you don't need stealth mode. My D2 is the most versatile mod I own due to it's size and decent power. It is my preferred travel mod, but my RX200 is still my "everything else" mod.

Building it was easy. Getting wicking right was hardest. It's very easy to go over and choke the cotton and go to loose and flood the chamber. But once it's build right it produces amazing flavor.
I completely agree with you on the coils man. Except with this one, it's been producing great vapor and flavor (not as good as the Pico but decent) not to mention the coil heads actually last more than week. I think it has to do with CoV using stainless for the wire.

Sounds like exactly what I've been looking for. I've been meaning to experiment with stainless cable wicking. With a picky tank like this, I'd just keep going until it was perfect... and never change it again. Just blowtorch it once in a while if it gets gunked, and presto... good as new!

Stainless mesh is great for genies, but I don't know honor would do in rta. They use the ss wire to build the coil for the vengeance, it's still uses organic cotton as the wicking

Not mesh... actual stainless cable. Google "RTA stainless wire rope wick build" and you'll see some interesting stuff. I guess it makes for pretty good wicking, and it's quite permanent. Been meaning to try it out.

Oh yes I have some ss rope but I've only ever tried it on genies. I'll have to look it up and check it out

Huh, that looks really interesting. As someone who used SS (and non SS) wire rope professionally for years, a few comments and cautions. Mu apologies if I sound like a Nanny :)

*Be certain that you clean your cable, as most wire ropes have some degree of machining residue (oil or grease) left on them (yes, even "stainless")... I have not used it for vaping, but boiling, ultrasounding and soaking in degreaser before thoroughly rinsing and ultrasounding again would not be excessive. Heating to red hot probably would take care of any lingering nastiness.

*Cutting is most easily achieved with a pair of FELCO C7 cutters, designed for the job. It's a clean cut and requires the least amount of effort.

*Do your research and be certain you know what makes up that cable, there are some that have a fiber core, or a polypropylene tracer woven into the strands. 7x19 (seven strands of 19 threads each) SS aircraft cable at small diameters usually should not have these, but destroy a small piece to be certain.

*This should be a no-brainer, but don't use "painted" or black cable..(often found backstage in theaters) it's got a coating that probably won't wash off, but might burn off in use. However, torching the cable probably won't remove the coating on the interior of the strands.

Please understand, I don't know if this material has been deliberately manufactured for the vaping industry yet. I'm just sharing the knowledge that I have of it from years of using it for the intended purpose.

I'll probably be okay... got a little bit of a leg up on that front. I've been forging custom blades for a good many years, so I'm guessing that a good soak at a couple thousand degrees will remove any impurities and also leave me a nice oxide patina.

Not to brag, but I make some decent blades. As such, they take much longer than a few hours to make. That show rushes artisans, who (of course) are forced to turn out junk as a result... and it gives bladesmithing a bad name!

Damn! That's some nice work!
Thanks! I'm a "basement bladesmith", and it's a hobby I really enjoy. Now that I've quit the smokes, and started vaping... I'm eying my mech mods. All that brass, copper and stainless looks so bare. Time to start etching some metal! I'll be sure to post some pics once I've done a few.

Thanks for the kudos. I'm still learning the craft, and I haven't posted most of the blades I've done. Some of my early work is online with a few pictorials. I won't start posting self-promoting links or anything, but if you Google M40 blades, I'm sure you'll find a few.

Don't forget to play with patination too. It's a bit less controllable, but the results can be very satisfying. Combined, I'd bet they be stellar.
