pls help need advice on ss coils for temp control

hey folks..can anyone help pls...
do i have to space my coils when building stainless steel 316l for temp control?
im using a crius v3 and rx 200 mod also twisted messes dripper..
ive built lots of kanthal but not sure if i dry fire and tune the coils the same..

normally i tweek the kanthal together so its one group of winds..is that ok with stainless fo tc do you know?

the rx200 SS is set for 304. from experience i have had hit and miss with 316 prebuilt heads. works ok for a while then it fisses out, place same coil on dna200 and 316 profile it worked for a week longer. most people suggest using space large diameter coils for ss in Temp. Spaced works best for me. I used a kuro tool, wrap it around with an even gap then compress the coil with the top part to get a nice tightly spaced coil... if that makes sense lol.

I build rda's with 316L and use the triton coil with no issues using ss mose on the rx200. No idea what wire is in the triton but it works great.

To me, dry firing totally changes the wire and vape to me. I build, wick and run it for a week or so till it gets gunked up and rebuild.

Don't know, TC won't allow the wire to get red no matter what even with a dry fire. TC is a whole other animal and contact coils, hot spots, all that stuff is out the door.

Wick needs to get replaced but wire is still fine after a few days of vaping desert mixes, no dry fire needed.

so if my coils glow its a sign tc isnt working right? would that be fair to say?
im always on the sweet flavours;] that build looks nice gonna have to practice new spaced coil builds from the sound of it.

Ya but how do you make spaced with one? I have to pull them apart and then compress.

I just run the wire in, start coiling by hand as evenly as possible and then pull the first wind out because that will not be straight. So if I want a 7 wrap, I make 8 and then pull the 1st out.

Then compress the coil with the kuro's top cap thing that you usually wind with.

26g here but ordering 24 this week for a lower resistance single coil. Duals with 26g is fine... about 0.2 but single is a little higher than I want for TC.

Most TC mods won't fire in TC mode with a coil higher than 1.0 ohms. I like to keep my builds at 0.25 or lower just because it seems to perform better than a higher 0.5 or whatever build. But that's just me.

Most will work from 1.0 down to 0.05 ohms so whatever your preference is within that range.

got it buddy coils wont glow now tc kicks in..sweet..rocking a 0.18 dual coil in the crius 170 c works a treat..next to try the twisted messes with a build..

Hi there, Version 3 of the firmware upgrade which can be found here: http://www.wismec.com/product/reuleaux-rx200/ . once upgraded the stainless steel setting is for 316l. Its well worth the upgrade, it makes temp control a breeze. Also you dont have to make spaced coils for temp control on stainless steel. I make contact coils out of 316 steel for all my drippers, tanks on my reaulaux. you just need to pulse pinch on a low watts. I hope this helps,

How was the shipping and time,frame from them, their wire is so cheap it makes all wires look crazy expensive

More or less. Though I try not to glow stainless steel excessively in an effort to reduce the amount of oxygen drawn into the material.

Molybdenum content. For our purposes, 316L is far more resistant to corrosion. Hence, coils of 316L it will last longer in between recoils, particularly when vaping acidic juices.

#6-32 machine screw for ~2.5mm coils, #8-32 for ~3.5mm and #10-24 for ~3.75mm. If using 316L, use screws cut from 316L. They are difficult to source from hardware stores, but can be found at industrial suppliers such as McMaster-Carr and/or Fastenal. If you use standard 18-8 (304) screws for winding 316L, the 18-8 may cut into the wire and leave deposits which hasten corrosion. This is also why titanium coils should only be brushed with titanium bristles.
