It also has a ceramic cup in it that's very fragile. I'd stay clear of the fishbone if I were you
until I see more scientific studies with ceramic I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.... or twelve.

Plus can't get the thought out of my head of what happens if it cracks and you inhale the dust? I'm sure that's my inner hypochondriac but still

It's just a cup. Has nothing to do with the heating element. But it's very fucking fragile

Go ahead & drink your fucking backwater sludge then. Labatt blue is A-ok in my book
I used to think so, too--until I tasted real beer. Marginally better than most other North American pop-fizzle rice-water brews, usually served near-frozen lest somebody detect what it really tastes like, but that's the most that can be said for it.

Just cant do ales..... im more of a lager person. It may change in time but for now i just find ales to dark.
Ales aren't necessarily dark. Blue Moon, for example, is a witbier (white beer) ale. It's definitely anything but dark. Difference between ales and lagers is the fermentation method.

I nice intro to really good ales is Bell's Amber Ale. Fully-flavoured, but not highly-hopped, so not exceptionally bitter.[/U]

I know it's just a cup, and it's not the first time they've used the concept. Back in the day we had the ithaka, and they would crack like crazy. Before that they were tried in cartos. In every case I stayed clear because two things were never answered or accounted for enough for me to feel comfortable. (personal feeling) when ceramic cracks (fragile) it creates dust. What is the chemical makeup of the ceramic used and what are the risks to inhaling the dust. From a chemical risk to a physical one. Cotton fibers are less likely to damage soft tissue than microscopic sharp edges.
Again, dude, this is my thought process right or wrong. No doubt the Ithaca made a great flavor atty becsuse of the ceramic, and, it has its advantages. But every advantage has a risk or a different disadvantage. Sorry for the diatribe

Probably still do. An LVS recommended I consider the Fishbone Plus. Did a bit of research. That ceramic deck liner jumped right out at me. First review I watched: Reviewer had that deck liner crack all the way across the first time he tried to re-assemble the thing. No thanks.
