Sounds like fun lol
I really haven't decided yet, depends on how far the contractors get today, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Sorry to hear that, Whiskey. I hope it doesn't set you all back too much!Bathroom tiled , defective Tub/shower unit torn out and replaced

ThanksSorry to hear that, Whiskey. I hope it doesn't set you all back too much!
Hope you all have a good one. Check back in when I can. I have something I think might be pretty cool coming in soon. Hope to share it with you allOurs was under-insulated, which I've known since I bought the place over twenty years ago. New roof this summer. Time to get off the dime and do it. So doubled the attic insulation. What with that, the new roof including snow & ice shield and the improved attic ventilation: I may not have to rake the roof any moreAir exchange system being put in, in the attic due to an over insulating OCD hubs

On a completely unrelated note: Went to buy something from A Certain Vape Vendor, this morning. Had it on sale. At checkout I was presented with two shipping options, both of which appeared to me to be high. So I dumped the cart and logged off. I hate it when vendors offer a good price, then try to nick you on shipping.

Yeah, that can be a problem in buildings that are sealed up too well.Well he thought that the foam did so well in the attic , that he decided to do the basement as well, locked in so tight that even breathing in the house causes condensation and so air tight the house can't breath...
I know. I'm not prepared to out them, just yet. I was going to, then thought to send them an email asking them to explain it. (They're actually a vendor that has a good rep. here.)As far as that Vendor, your allowed to say who they are, I always watch for the ol' low price gear/high price ship fee's too
Grats buddy!!WOOHOOO another corner win.
Not even 1 cup in to my hectic morning of spring cleaning!
Thanks WhiskeyHi Kimber, Hope your feeling better soon!!

Yes, please do tell. I try to avoid scheming motherfuckersWell he thought that the foam did so well in the attic , that he decided to do the basement as well, locked in so tight that even breathing in the house causes condensation and so air tight the house can't breath.....literally can feel it too. he's been opening the windows (in winter brrrrrrr) for a few hours a day to get the humidity down. That's what over insulating can get you in this type of climate/setting. DUHHHHHHH

He was gathering all kinds of info on it and this air exchange system was what he decided on.Did anyone give you any ideas about how to correct the problem with the foam?
You've goat to be kiddingwondering if they're finally coming out with a goatpro camera. Pestering them might have worked after all.

How's the weather back there this morning Whisk? It's a beautiful sunny day here in the southland with a high of 72° and no rain in sight! Thanks Pete, it is what it is I suppose....
Welll... I dunno about "scheming MFers..." It's not as if it's a hidden cost, per se. Perhaps they've a good reason. I'll withhold judgement until I either get an answer I don't like or get no answer, at all, after a decent wait.Yes, please do tell. I try to avoid scheming motherfuckers
I'm a builder for a living. What your problem is when we build houses any house with an open attic need to be ridge vented and all houses need sofet vent, this allows the air inside your walls to excape and properly vent "stale air" wich causes condensation. If you see condensation on the out side of your walls theirs almost garenteed mold growing on the inside of your sheet rock, or plaster and lathe depending on when your house was build or remodeled. The best way we fix this is if it's possible we install sofet vents(sometimes we cant) or get a de humidifier or they sell these handy buckets at home Depot with beads in them that suck up moisture, put them in your basement (wich is where most of your condensation ariginates from) theirs some other solutions but way to lengthy to post on here.He was gathering all kinds of info on it and this air exchange system was what he decided on.

Hmmm... I'm no builder, but I researched construction techniques, from siting, to foundation, to roofs, extensively, when I first went home-hunting. (Design engineer mindset.) There's a "cap" at the top of outside walls (kind of the inverse of the sill on the top of the foundation). Not much moisture going to escape there. Never mind wall insulation and fire breaks. Soffit vents are installed for attic airspace exchange. Warm air rises, exiting ridge vents, hip vents or cans. Cool air, drawn through the soffit vents, replaces it.I'm a builder for a living. Lol told ya I wouldn't winCongrats @skiibo4200 and @BigNasty one your wins! Mine's out for delivery right now. I'm so excited!!
It's called a top plate and wood sucks up moisture more then any other building material. Water transfers through wood easier then one would expect.Hmmm... There are two reasons this is necessary: One being cooling in the summertime. The other being to prevent condensation in the attic space during cooling.
I can tell you, first hand, what happens when attic airspace ventilation is inadequate. I can tell you to the tune of ten sheets of plywood roof sheathing replaced--some so-badly degraded you could crumple it with your hand. Only 3/8" sheathing (old construction), but still.
Come closer and I'll obligeBite me.
Basically me every day
I'm not a MTL person if it doesn't suit my needs you can have it.Lol told ya I wouldn't win
