Yes. It charges well. It takes forever to charge since it is 3 18650 batteries, but it lasts forever as well. I'd say 6-8 hours from empty but mine rarely reaches empty.

I actually bought 6 new batteries to marry for this and figured I would rotate them, I haven't ever removed the original 3.

My two charge up OK via USP in-mod using a 5v 1150nAh wall charger from one of my old Motorola phones.. It takes about 4 hrs to fully charge the three batts..I use a 4 bay Luc charger mostly now..but charging USB works if needed..BTW, you'll like the Reuleaux! Great mod!

Would always charging in the mod ruin the batteries, or be unsafe?

What will happen is that they will become unbalanced after a while and voltage difference will widen, they are already being discharged and stressed differently as you use them, an external charger re-balances them every time so the voltage difference will be minor and within safe ranges, but the mod internal charger does not have the ability to do this balancing, after a while you will end up with unmarried batteries which will start to become dangerous, it is just not worth the risk, if you can not afford an external charger don't get the the RX200, the only mods that i know of that can be safely charged via USB apart from the DNA 200 is the iStick 100W and TC100W both have batteries setup in parallel and stay balanced at all times.

There is nothing else, either charge in the mod or charge in an external charger, what other charging methods do you expect exist? you can start by charging in the mod and swapping your batteries around every week or so, and check the voltage of your batteries by holding fire+down for 5 seconds when your mod is turned off to check the voltages of all cells, if the voltage differences is within the 0.1v range then you should be ok, if the difference starts getting wider then it is time to buy a charger to balance them, i can't think of any other solution, just get an external charger as soon you can and have the money for it.

Or get the iStick TC100W which is upgradable to 120W if you do not need more than 120W of power, this one has the same board, software and functions of the RX200, costs less and can be safely charged via USB all the time.

Your call.

Just do it at your own risk and be careful, monitor your battery voltages frequently to make sure they stay at about the same level, i would also not let it charge unattended overnight, but again try to buy an external charger as soon as possible, it is cheaper than setting your house on fire or damaging your face!

Ive heard some bad things about the RX200s onboard charging. I was looking around after I bought one to see if its a good idea and from what I read people were having problems with the batteries not charging evenly and having large differences in voltage among the 3 batteries. Personally Ive never used the onboard charging for that reason, and never will. You could probably get away with it, but really, why risk it? With a single battery mod I have no problem using onboard charging, but with a 3 battery mod, Id avoid it. Again, its just my person opinion.

I just wanted to add as long as I use the same new batteries of the same make and and amp specs together I've never had balance issues charging in-mod via USB... Just sayin

I just bought an RX200 today. Brought it home, put the batteries in, and plugged it in while it was powered down. Was charging fine, about an hour and a half in it was showing a battery trouble message, batteries and mod were hot. I went back to the shop I bought it from and they checked the batteries, all good. Put in new batteries from the clerk's RX200, and got the same message. Bottom line, with Three batteries, the on board charger was questionable at best, dangerous at worst. Reluctantly, I bought a four bay charger.

I would recommend for a multiple battery device to make the minor investment in a good battery charger. Luc and Xtar being my favorites but hear good things about the Opus BT C-3100 as well.
