Apparently I'm one of those people that gets a peppery thing from VBIC (used capella) ... I was wondering if that is something that will steep out or am I better off using vienna cream and a vanilla ?

I love CAPs VBIC. Try adding 1% FA Fresh Cream to smooth it out. VBIC also needs a few days to a week to begin to smooth out. If that doesn't work, try 2% FA Vienna Cream + 1% FA Fresh Cream. If you want to bump the vanilla add .5% FA Vanilla Classic or .5% FA Vanilla Bourbon for a sharper vanilla edge.
I've never heard about the peppery thing before, just chemical taste.
Steeping usually helps tho.
Much also depends on how much flavoring you're using, and what other flavors, if any.
And be sure to shake the flavoring/s well before mixing.
Brand of NIC, if used, (some are peppery tasting).

I find Tfa to be really good. Depends if your looking to avoid the "baddies" or not. It gives a really good sweet and creamy taste. Never had the pepper thing happen but I do have Cap vbic on the way so if I get it with that I'll be sure to let you know.

2% fa forrest mix
trying to keep to 70-80% vg (10% dist water) and not really worried about the "baddies" , I personally think it has been blown out of proportion (you know how opinions are ;P). I'll give it a week or two then maybe try adding some fa fresh cream ... its only a 10ml batch so no big.

Vaping what you refer to as the "baddies" is a personal choice. We'll know more in a decade ot two.
The nic base is invariably suspect when a mix is peppery, though, Have you tried it with just VG and water but without flavoring? It's not unpleasant but if it is peppery, well, right there's yer problem.

I'd suspect it's one of the other flavors in there, or the NIC
.Try a small mix, (like 5ml), of VBIC stand alone at 5-7% without any NIC first.
Process of elimination here.
After testing per your suggestions ... yeah it's the nic. Currently looking into my options and atm I'm inclined to go with Carolinaxtract for the nic and prob get some vg/pg from vt. Thanks again for all the helpful suggestions .. you guys rock !!!
I did get a 15 ml sample from NN and it's much better then the WL, but after reading the convo between retrox and Flavor Alchemist in the stickied bases thread I opted for the CXTC. Since both CXTC and VT samples are 100mg 120ml (which is nearly a years worth of nic for me), I felt that the nic that offered the longest shelf life would be the better choice for me. Then wayne.walkerr's comments on the VT VG made me want to give that a try.
