IPV5 or KBOX 200 Watt?

OK, so it's down to this two mods, the IPV5 or the KBOX 200 watt?
I want something in white, 100+ watt with temp control that can do SS coils.
Tough decision. Please help.

That's going to be hard to answer, right now, because both mods are so new to the market. Very few people have had an opportunity to get either one in hand, much less both of them.

IPV5, so far soooo good!
KangerTech KBox 120/200 TC

There's another thread where somebody got an IPV5, but I lost track of it.

I don't have those mods but for TC I'll always go with a YIHI chip so IPV5 and I could be wrong but I'm fairly sure it has manual TCR adjustment.

I really like the ideas of a box mod that is upgrade firmware and even do a custom logo. Not to mention the IPV5 uses Yihi chipsets which have worked extremely well for me personally. The yihi sx pure atomizer is really interesting and would imagine it's going to work best with a yihi chipset.

All of this has me leaning towards the IPV5

no rx for u?
Well, ... I already own both Wismec Reuleaux (DNA200 & RX200) and also the IPV 3Li, not to mention about 20 others, smaller ones.
But I'm looking for a new one that can handle the SS316L wires better than the ones I already have.
I guess, from reading infos from many of you, in this thread and others, I will probably get the IPV5.
But still reluctant about the max 100 joules (120 for SS) even though I've never vape in TC that high (highest is 80 watts).

Any sx mini ML owners can get the sx pure atomizer for free before anyone else by doing the Facebook activity. So far 32 of 100 are claimed. I got one coming. All you do is show your custom screen.

Thanks, but now I'm more baffled. According to the link you sent, say I set the "joules" to its maximum limit 120 joules, and I vape for 3 seconds .... does that mean I'm only vaping at 40 watts?

No it means that you used 40 watts, not 40 watts of fire power, 40 watts total.
Look at it like this: You have a car with a 450 cold cranking amp battery, it is 10 degrees outside and you start the car, you turn the key and the starter motor strains to fire the engine. Now you purchase a new battery with 700 cold cranking amps, you go through the same procedure, this time you turn the key and the starter motor does not strain and the engine fires rite up, because of more power. Joules is a measure of power.
This is a very basic explanation.

Watts is a measure of energy produced. Power = volts x current and is unchanging over time. 1 sec = 20w in the second sec still 20 watts and so on. To have 20 watts the voltage and current have to equal 20 watts regardless of time or temp.

Joules is a measure of power consumed over time. 1 sec = 20J 2 sec = 40J 3 sec = 60J and so on. To maintain a constant temp the voltage keeps changing so the watts keep changing, Not a very accurate measurement. With joules the watts or voltage or current can change all they want your still consuming the same amount of energy over time to maintain a set temp.
Power = energy produced
Joules = energy consumed
not the same thing.

Sorry guys, I'm still confused, if not more.
I was an Art student long, long time ago and maths had never been my strong area, lol.
In layman term, how should I go about setting the joules then?
Or do I have to just tweak around and play with it to find that sweet spot? Or does it have a certain guideline I can go by?
I'm asking this coz I just put an order for a white KBOX 200 watt since the local shop owner said the IPV5 won't be there until after Chinese New Year which means I won't be getting it 'til mid February.
Thanks for all your input.

Always start low and move up till you find your sweet spot. Remember it's all about the temp you set, that's the limit. Adjusting J, you are adjusting your ramp up.

The Kbox does not have watt or Joule settings in TC mode... Just choose temp and you are done.

i own a Snow Wolf Mini that uses the same method for applying wattage in TC as the Kanger. You set the temp and the mod applies the watts needed. At first I thought I thought this would be a con but it makes for a very consistent and smooth TC vape. My IPV D2, which has plenty of short comings, allows you to set the joules in TC mode and it's one of my favorite devices to use in TC mode. Like the SW mini, it's very smooth and consistent in TC mode. The D2 is a single 18650, does not do SS temp and does not have upgradable firm ware. For those reasons I am looking very closely at the IPV5 but I hate to be a early adopter / beta tester. If I had to choose right now it would be the IPV5.

Do any of us sleep? I'm starting to think this is a forum for vaping vampires.
