I bought a cool fire 4 plus box mod from my buddy brand new in the box and I was wondering if the smok tfv4 tank will work with no problems with the cool fire 4 plus mod. Any idea what ohms ND watts would work best? . Thanks for the help.

Not if you're using the coils that came with the tank, like the quad or triple coils. Those require more wattage than what that 40w mod can deliver.

Even at 50 or 60 can be a long ramp up with those coils, a dual battery 100w+ is a comfy box for the smok, to me anyway:)

At least 100w. I use my TFV4s on my 100w istick, on up to my 200w Koopors with no problems.

The cool fire 4 plus is a 70 watt max mod. I would be using the coils that came with the tank. Thank you

My mistake, didn't see the "plus." But those coils are gonna drain it pretty quick, you'll max the battery running that high wattage.

Is there a way to run the dual coils in that tank? Would they perform well?

Personally, I get a good vape up to 50w or so on a .4-.5 build. But that's me. Others here may prefer different builds.

I'm just wanting to make sure it's safe running that tank on that mod.

You're safe, it's a regulated mod. But running at you're maximum wattage isn't gonna do battery life any good, and your vape will taste like crud with those coils running at lower wattage. Do you build?

The dual coil that came with the tank - is it regular kanthal or clapton?

I haven't got into building yet. If I were to run the single or dual coils could it be run at lower wattage? I just want a good mod that I can vape. I had a vape Smith Knight mod and had a battery explode on me while using the mod. Wanna stay away from 18650 batteries. Long story there.

Too many shops are misguiding and misinforming to make sales, and people are getting hurt. I hate that you had to be a victim of that.
My dual coil is still in the box, couldn't remember. You'll be fine with that one. Start out low on wattage and work your way up to a wattage that satisfies you.

Those are some killer coils too! Love em! But I run those at no less than 80w, they need the heat.

Getting the whole kit along with the I sub tank that came with it. It's brand new never used. He selling it to me for 30 bucks. He won't be home until Friday or Saturday. So I have time to gather some information before I get it.

Awesome deal! I hear that isub tank is a good one too, I've never used one. Do you have the TFV4 full size or mini?

I would. You've sub ohmed when you had the mech, so it's nothing new.

I thought they did...I know I have one, just don't remember if it came with the full size or the mini.

I did. I was using an Arctic sub ohm tank on the mech mod. I was told that you can't use the subtasks on a mech mod. That's why it malfunctioned. Any truth to that? Or did I get a faulty mod or battery?

Even if I used the triple coil would I have to run it at about 70 watts to get it to fire right? Or isn't it even worth it

You cannot use a hybrid top cap on a mech, no. Just as well be vaping a pipe bomb.

I wouldn't, no. Those triple, quad, and sextuple coils don't even function right at low wattage. You can get the rba separately, probably good prices on eBay if you can't get one at a reputable shop.

Can I buy prebuilt cOils in like a 5 pack or for I have to buy a rebuildable deck and build my own. I can only find 1.5 Ohm dual coils for it. Is that ok or should I run lower ohms?

It'll just be a cooler vape at 1.5. You can buy pre-made. Matter of fact, we have people in the forum who do that. @CrazyChef

I found some dual clapton coils at .35ohms 30-90 watts. Would them be OK?

Probably, but I have to run a little more heat on those too. Maybe not 80+w, but the ones I have in my Crius right now I'm running at 72w.

@Teresa P Thanks for thinking of me! :D

Take a quick look at my website (listed in my sig). In addition to what's there, I specialize in custom coils to fit pretty much any RDA/RTA out there.

He's semi-new at this, and needs a good vape in a TFV4 with a 75w mod. A local shop tried to blow his face off, so we want him to have a good experience. :)

What coils would you recommend for the smok tfv4 tank on a cool fire 4 plus mod CrazyChef? Thank you. I will check out your site also.

Off the top of my head, I would say one of 3 options. A single wire coil, a Clapton coil or a small gauge fused Clapton coil. Stay away from parallel builds for now, as they can be a PITA to install when you're first learning.

The single wire coil is the best for beginners. It's easy to install, and you can probably coil it yourself with a little practice.

For something with a little more flavor, I would go with a Clapton coil. Also easy to install, but takes some practice to wrap the outer wire around the inner "core" wire. The "valleys" between the outer wrap create a place for extra juice to flow. Extra juice=extra flavor (and vapor, if you're into that).

The fused Clapton is my favorite of the three. It's 2 core wires wrapped with a single binding wire. This one gives you the most bang for your buck as far as flavor and vapor go. It's also pretty easy to install. The juice gets trapped in the areas between the two core wires, held in by the binding wire, creating a nice little space for the juice to hang out. It's my "go to" build when I need something quick.

As far as specs are concerned, for a single wire coil, I'd go with 26 gauge kanthal, 6 wraps with a 2.5mm inside diameter. This will put you at around 0.73Ω. For a Clapton, I'd say a 28 gauge nichrome with 36 gauge nichrome Clapton winding, 6 wraps with a 2.0mm I.D. 0.82Ω For the fused Clapton, I'd say 30 gauge kanthal cores, 40 gauge nichrome binding, 5 wraps with a 2.0mm I.D. It'll come in around 0.70Ω

I hope this helps.

Wow. It's amazing how much info you can gather on these forums. Thanks for all the help. I'm not really wanting to get into building my own coils just yet. Was just trying to get something that would work for now and then learn as I go. Thank you
