I recently bought a RX200 and a Griffin RTA. Before that I hadn't updated my setup for about 8 months. I didn't keet up with latest tech and trends during that time either. I guess I was just too happy with my Sigelei 100w + MutationX. I think temp control had just hit the scene then and only came in 30 or 40w devices IIRC. Now I have the RX200 and a few different types of wire I'm curious about temp control. Can anyone explain why I would or wouldn't want to use TC and which wire type is best?

SS wire is closest to Kanthal and works well in both power mode and TC and doesnt have all the scary extra like other TC wires..I would go with 316L or 317 myself. Its resistance isnt much lower then Kanthal also, so you can build more comfortably without wondering if the build will be too low or not.

Congrats on the RX200. Nice device for sure. I use only premade coils in my tanks (Crown, Herakles, Subtank Nano),
and I only vape Ni200 in TC mode because for me, it has the best flavor, and it is consistent. I use kanthal in power mode, and have the kids at the vape shop build on my rda's. So, I prefer Ni200 for TC applications.

If your building coils yourself I would not suggest N200....Its difficult to work with, Its easily bent and screwed up with wicking and its resistance is extremely low, not to mention the dangers of vaping on nickle are also present...If you do decide for whatever reason to use N200 then please do some research on it and then decide for yourself whether you feel its safe enough to use and whether or not you would use it for these purposes.

Some folks like TC but I'm NOT one of them, lol...that said, I own two RX mods and two Griffin RTA's...I have a dual 24g Nichrome build in my black one that vapes great at about 70w in power mode..I recently installed a pair of Clapton's in my stainless version that has awesome flavor at about 80w in power mode..

I snapped a pic of my first build last week with the 24g

Velocity style deck made it very easy installing coils, installing cotton was easy too, no leaks, no dry hits and vapes great!

I also recommend at least trying some SS316L builds on your Griffin. I keep SS316L going in both of my Crius tanks non-stop. TC rocks!

I have some Square 316L coming in and I am going to try some Crazier builds with it, I hope it works out well.
This is what Im using now in the Griffin:
FSK Temp Curve of 17%, 100w, and 550°F on a .1 Ohm Alien Framed Staple build (8PLY .5 KA1 Ribbon/26KA1 Frames/40N80 Outer Wrap)

Nice mod , Ray:)
Gotta love the WORKING all wires TC ...Eats up Cuboids and Sigeleis and Shits Asolos :p

I did talk to Hohm Tech and with a few more agreeable people they will be making a version with some tweaks I suggested and they are also updating their software with a few addons I provided.
The Hardware tweaks will make it more relative to vaping...I hate the gender symbols on it...I suggested the Sigma, Pi, and keep the Omega symbol and make the Red version a darker red...in the light it almost looks the same orange as the orange version..tsk tsk tsk

Right now I'm using a twisted kanthal vertical coil build in the griffin at around 75w and its very nice. I bought one of the youde wire boxes so I have some Nichrome, Ni200, and SS316 but I've only ever used kanthal. I gotta do some research and find out the differences and pros/cons of each. Other than being able to dry burn is there any real benefit to the temp control feature vs wattage?

Thanks! I'll check out the 316L first. I think I was reading a bit last night about Ni200 giving off poisonous gases or something if you're dry fireing it? Also not sure about vaping nickel. If I'm allergic to nickel it could cause problems right?

Edit: I think I may be mixing up titanium and nickel wire.

Never dry fire Ni200 and never dry fire Ti1 to the point of it glowing red, blue is ok though (about a short 10-watt burst).

I just tried doing 9 wraps of SS 316L dual coils spaced and my ohm meter is saying .21 but my rx200 is saying .32 resistance. I switch the rx to SS mode by clicking 3 times and when I fire it, it goes to 200w instantly is this normal?

Edit: I set the temp to 200c and it seems better. What does locking in the resistance do and is it supposed to pop up temp protection while I'm drawing?

No if you hit the enter key to add a line before and after adding you pic (its easier when re-editing a post) then the words are posted above and below the pictures....You may be right, I cant stand tapatalk and dont use it....I use Chrome to view the forum both on my PC and Mobile platforms.

The RX200 and many mods will fire at their peak wattage at first to get to tempature faster but then is limited or cutoff to keep it there. This is normal, do not worry...

Yes N200 can very bad if your allergic, it also can give off poisonous gasses if dryburned as will Titanium. This is why SS is the only wire I would recommend to TC with (Unless you have a HWG2 with Kanthal/N80 TC)

Hey @raymo2u , where did you want us to post on the hohm tech input? I'm with you 100% and would love to see the cosmetic changes as well as the more in depth stuff you mentioned previously. Let me know and I will gladly toss my hat in that ring and be ready to order another wrecker.

did you shoot a video for the contest? I am hoping mine gets back here in time to get in on the first 250! Not that I want my purchase price refunded, I'm just gonna tell them to send me another one so my blue baby will have a red or silver friend to play with!!

by default the RX200 has the wattage in TC set to 200. I'd recommended to turn that down. Start off at 30 watts and move up. I'm doing 50 watts at 460* on a Ni200 coil. Press the fire button 4X and that will take you into the wattage ramp up. Select your wattage and press fire button again. Now its set
