Can I use non temp control coil on my joyetech evic vt?

I'm new to vaping and need some help I have had my joyetech evic vt for about 3 days now and I've fried 2 coils, the man at the shop I got it from said that I wouldn't use temp control so he changed out the ni and ti coils for just power coils... Is it because of the coils or something else?

I use the Power setting on my mini all day every day. What tank are you using? What coils/ohms? How high do you have the watts set? And juice... is it high vg?

Hopefully, they gave you Kanthal coils, if they set you up in Power mode. Be sure to prime your coils, put some juice on them, fill you tank, let it sit a while, then take a couple puffs without hitting the fire button. Start out with lower watts, when your flavor is getting better, turn it up gradually, but back off if the flavor starts getting weird.

The screen on your mod should tell you how many ohms your coil is. It'll either say "coil", or have the ohm symbol.

When you push the fire button what does the number at the very bottom of the screen say?

Yeah, once their burnt, there's no escaping that flavor. If you're going to stick with power mode, get Kanthal coils, not nickel or titanium. Is there another vape shop near you that you can visit? Sounds like the one you went to was only interesting in selling, not helping.

0.88 is regulated so you need to switch it to power mode.
Buy the regulated lowest ohm coils. NO nickel or titanium because they are for temp control
Try switching to power mode by clicking the fire button 3 times fast.
When you see the top set of numbers blinking flick the top knob to the right until it says power.
Then click the fire button once more and it should stop blinking and you will be in power mode.

What watt should I start it on? He had it set on 25 at first... I know it's probably annoying for some one new yo be asking so many questions

Actually, no, I'm glad you found us!!

When you start it out, maybe start at 10w. See how that's doing, but make sure your wick is saturated, like I described above. If 10 seems to be doing well for you for a bit, then turn it up just a little at a time until the flavor starts tasting off. If it gets burnt, you can't save it. Just increase it slowly. Not all juice will tolerate higher watts, some will. It just takes a bit of getting used to. I vape for flavor, I don't care about the numbers or the clouds, though I do wanna see a little bit, LOL. I chase flavor.

That tank sucks! I recommend looking into getting another tank. The juice inlets don't like high vg liquid, too thick to wick. A 60vg/40pg is probably going to be the highest vg content that those coil heads will wick properly.

I have to "+1" on the tank -- I have one and I keep a ~1ohm coil in it. It's my "totally alternate flavor" tank. And for the record, at that resistance, I probably run it at around 17 watts.

Suggestions.... (Uwell) Crown tanks @ 0.5ohm... That's nice on the VT. 35-50w depending on the juice. (eLeaf) iJust 2 tanks with Atlantis (or eLeaf) 0.5 ohm - Big tank, pretty standard stuff. If you want massive (no pun) flavor and a freaky-smooth draw, the iJust 2 with a Vaporesso cCELL coil at 0.9 ohms... That's like turning on a faucet even at 0.9. 30-37w depending on the juice.

If you're looking for a (from what I can tell) nearly "universal starting point" on most coils, adjust your wattage to give you around 3.7-3.8v -- That's where you'd be on a non-regulated device. So, it's a really "safe" starting point (although 'breaking in' a coil at lower wattages is a nice idea also - start really low, a quick puff or two. Bring it up a couple watts, another quick puff or two, etc.).

Don't throw out the Mega - But move it to the backup line. My (eGo) TRON tank is in the same line. It's a tank - but it's "meh."

Bangin' mod though -- Heavy, but great battery and features. If you're ever looking for a 2nd (Heh... "If" - That's funny) the VTC-Mini is another fine choice from the same line. Runs a single 18650, so nowhere near the battery. But light, easy to hold, etc. I usually have both (VT/VTC) for long days away.

IMO/E, YMMV, etc., etc.

. (Uwell) Crown tanks @ 0.5ohm. ----> Good Choice

Update.

I found that I had my wattage up to high and that was causing my problems. But I did find that the tank would seem to clog alot so I got a tfv4 mini and it's a huge difference in both taste and vape amount

Thanks everybody for the help

what watts you stayed on? glad you found the root of problem. TFV4 is great, I use it to work with RX200 before, but someone said that TFV4 will break the pin of rx200, so I have decided to replace it with Uwell Crown tank

Yea it was between the tfv4 and the crown but where I'm at no one really sells the coils for the crown. I run it about 50-55 watts that's where I've found the best flavor
