eVic VTC Mini vs Cuboid?

I purchased a Kangertech Subvod a month ago because I had only just recently started vaping (my posts -.-) and I am already falling into the lovely hobby that is vaping! So basically I am now looking to upgrade to a box mod w/control over my vape. I have compared some devices and these two seem to be the two competitors for my price range (under $50). So maybe someone can help me decide? I plan on taking the tank off of my subvod and it is subOhm so I know that it may be a little too much for the VTC mini but still some advice from this lovely community would be fantastic!

They basically have the same features except one has more power and battery life. I think for a beginner mod, the Evic is a good way to go. If you do decided to go the cuboid route, just remember to use married batteries. That means you buy the same brand, at the same time and only use them in the cuboid. They should always be charged and discharged at the same time. That's one of the reasons I would recommend the Evic over the Cuboid to beginner. Welcome and good luck,

For that $50.00 budget, you could get a VTC Mini and a Herakles tank at Vapenw.com Still would need quality 18650 batteries and a separate charger, but would be a good investment.

The thing about this tho is that with the Herakles tank I would have to order spare coils, meanwhile with my Kangertech tank I can purchase coils at my local store which is just a kiosk in the mall and other stores are a 40+ minute drive so this is more of a convenience factor. Plus is it necessary to purchase a separate charger? Not too familiar with that.

a dedicated charger is like sending your batteries to the party in a limo. plugging into usb for charging is like walking home in the rain. your batteries will be better if you show them some love. its also more convenient to have a second set charging all the time so your mod is never out of commission, and more important when your batteries need to be married.

on the original topic, i cant compare which is better because i only have a cuboid, but i can tell you im very happy with mine so far on every level (looks, build, function etc). from what i have read the mini is basically a one battery version of the cuboid with less max watts. imo it makes sense to just grab the bigger one and have a bit more room to grow. the cuboid has a 25a limit, so it wont be able to run at the max 200w output on certain builds. in my experience (im a noob), even the builds i run on mine that hit the limit, the limit was way higher than where i actually vape so its a non-issue for me (so far. perhaps i will eventually find a coil that i cant get hot enough to use...im sure by them ill have got my moneys worth and be ready to upgrade anyway).

iStick TC100W is better than these two, it has the same RX chip so you will get similar performance, but has two batteries which will provide longer life and can be charged safely into the device with USB because batteries are setup in parallel, will also reach 120W with the new update should you ever need it, lighter and sleeker than the Cuboid, with better finish and overall design and is almost twice as powerful as the Evic VTC Mini, so you get RX performance in an all round better design and form-factor and is still manufactured by Joyetech while being a tad cheaper than your other two options.

You still have to marry your batteries, buying two identical batteries (Authentic Sony VTC4 recommended) charge them together and use them together, treat both as one battery pack they also go together under the same exact conditions.

If you prefer a one battery device so that you do not have to bother with marrying batteries then the Evic VTC Mini is great.

Please note that the Kanger Toptank Nano that comes with the SUBVOD is problematic with Joyetech devices' 510 connection (RX200, Cuboid, Evic VTC, iStick TC100W) i predict you will get inconsistent resistance readings, atomizer short or atomizer not found problem shortly with this setup and will have to buy a new tank anyways.

Details about why this tank will most probably be problematic with any of these mods can be found here, check the posts i made in that thread:

I plan on taking the tank off of my subvod and it is subOhm so I know that it may be a little too much for the VTC mini ...
No, it's not. I'm using RDAs with builds down to ±0.3Ω, daily, on my eVic-VTC Mini, and have been for months. I briefly used it on a Tobeco Super Tank Mini with the 0.15Ω Ni200 coil. It fired it just fine. (Didn't care for the nickel, so didn't use it for long.)

Thing is: If you're sub-ohm vaping a single 18650 mod may not get you through the day--depending on how low the resistance and how much you vape.

Plus is it necessary to purchase a separate charger?
It's a good idea, IMO. Say, along with the eVic-VTC Mini: Two batteries: One fully-charged and one in the mod. When the one in the mod gets low: Swap in the fresh battery and put the other one in the charger. Keep vaping.

You can use the internal charger, and I regularly do, but you may find yourself with a low battery condition, some day, and have to charge at an inopportune time. Essentially: If I remember to look, and see the charge is down under about 2/3: I'll plug it in to a USB charger. If I see it's gotten down to more like 1/3 to 1/4 charge remaining: I'll swap batteries and put the drained one in my Intellicharger i2.

I'm not entirely sure what RX is but the whole USB charging is great for me because I'm breaking my budget with what I plan on ordering right now. Atleast my understanding is that I can 100% charge with a USB? I will definitely buy a charger when I can from my local store. But yeah if you suggest this then I will give it a shot and se how it works out for me.

The Herk tank runs on Atlantis V2 coils. Every shop I've seen has them too...Now the Herk Plus uses something else they may not have.

I have an RX200 and a VTC mini. The Cubiod has the same chip as the two I mentioned. I have found that they both preform the same in temp mode. I have started using the vtc mini a lot more than I thought I would. I have it paired with a Herk Plus tank...Great little pocket vape you can't go wrong..It's 39.99 at vapenw...

I charge my VTC Mini with a USB charger often and have never had a problem. I carry it to work as a stealthy little vape and I am always around a computer or USB charger so battery life is not an issue. I pull out the Reuleaux DNA 200 when I get home anyway. USB chargers are so easy to come by these days so you can charge the Mini in the car or at the office or at home if you need to. I have the Billow V2 Nano on mine with dual claptons and at 35 watts it's a good vape. I guess if a dual 18650 mod will last you all day than the Cuboid would be good but it will not work for me. I prefer just to plug the Mini in or carry a battery box with a couple of charged batteries in my backpack. I really like the portability of the VTC Mini when on the go.

The RX chip is the same chip in the Evic VTC Mini, Cuboid, RX200 and iStick TC100W and yes the iStick TC100W is the only dual battery device in its price range with the RX chip that can be charged 100% safely with USB because its batteries are setup in parallel, the downside is that its built-in charger is only 1 Amp so it will take a little over 4 hours to fully charge your batteries if they were flat, but you can of course charge it over night or use a pass-through charging where you vape on it while charging ..

I highly recommend this device you will enjoy it a lot, same chip as the Evic and the Cuboid with dual battery that is USB chargeable and have one of the best fire button mechanisms in the market, very sleek looking with great ergonomics, just get it you will not regret it.
