A question for current Wismec PRESA 75TC owners, please...

I saw in a couple of videos in Youtube as well as a few pages in the internet that some Wismec Presa 75 owners had managed to change the firmware on their Presa 75TC for the much prettier looking one of the Joyetech Evic VTC Mini screen, but ALL pages and videos I've found so far that show this are in German, lamentably. So I wonder, has anyone here actually tried this, and if sol, has it worked well? Thanks, guys...

I don't own a presa but I'm pretty sure the firmware is identical to the VTC mini. The latest firmware gives you pretty much everything you need short of more battery life. If for some strange reason you don't like the update, you can always revert back to what was originally on there.

It worked for at least some people... for a short while.
The gist seems to be that JTech got wind of it (this was before the feature sets began to match up) and changed the code to stop it from working.

However, if it does still work, and you actually want to try...

You'll need both mods. The installer app will only load the VTC's .bin file if it has a VTC connected. Then you can disconnect the VTC and connect the Presa in its place and the update should work. Maybe. :p

I guess the font style is, or was, different between the mods.
Or a different resolution spec of the screens? Don't know.

The newest update with the Up and Down Watts Adjust, and the new Start mode, should release soon for the Presa... so the feature sets will be matched again.

Well I'm mostly interested in getting the battery indicator and Font choice that the Mini uses, for some reason Wismec chose some 70's calculator style font that does not do it any favors, and the size of the battery indicator is also another point against the Presa in comparison with the beautiful Mini screen. So I was thinking that since the 2.0 Mini firmware is already Ti and SS TC compliant (I plan to use it with a Uwell Crown and an iJust 2 tanks) I could try and install it in the black Presa 75TC I ordered even if by now the 3.0 Mini firmware has made that impossible... So it might still be possible, right? I mean, I really don't need or mind not having TCR for the Presa, as long as I can use SS and/or Ti I'm gold...

No battery meter? What?

I don't have one but I thought the Presa was a very close twin to the VTC's display layout.
With the battery/puff count/total time being at the bottom of the screen.

It does have it, it's just smaller and thinner, the one on the VTC Mini looks better and it's much easier to read from what I've seen... Not so much in the picture but in the youtube video reviews it's easily noticeable which one is easier to read.... Plus, those Wismec fonts for the Presa are just so Ugh!!!!! :(

Ah, thanks.
I knew it went more graphical at some point, but that's about all.
('70s calc... yeah, I can see that. o_O )

Our VTCs went from that 2.0 in your pic to a center section more akin to the "line item" look of the Presa's 1.x. Not everyone was pleased, "watts" is smaller type again.

I wonder if the next Presa update has any layout changes In store? :p

I can see what you mean about the difference between 2.0 and 3.0 but still, Id take that look with a normal, 21st century font ANY day over the current look of the Presa... Plus, if the 3.00 was made incompatible, I'd still have to go with the VTC's 2.0 firmware version regardless... Which is really not bad at all with Ti and SS already! :D

Yeah, I take your point.

So we really don't know if it's still possible to do, or if it will lock up your Presa if you try (reflashing with a Presa .bin should fix anything like that... no guarantees though).

So, grab the latest VTC update package, each one includes all the previous version .bins, which is nice. And see if it'll load one while connected to the Presa.

At that point... it's all down to how brave you feel. :p

LOL Yeah, I wonder that current Presa owners haven't yet posted about having done so here, I mean with fonts like that this is more a Fix than an actual hack, hehehe Plus if it was me, I'd be dying to show pictures of how beautiful it looks with the right fonts and screen setup!

I went ahead and tried it again with the new firmware but it doesn't work. I tried it a couple months ago with multiple updaters and all bin files and it didn't work. I'm not sure what they changed or when but I can't get my Presa 75 to take any VTC firmware. I agree about the font. It's ugly. Hopefully the next update will look better. The Presa is excellent otherwise.

I'm quite sure you did, but just for the sake of being thorough please allow me to ask you this... you connected your Evic VTC-Mini without a battery first so that the updater software on your PC could identify it, and then after the updating software showed it had identified and was ready to update your Evic VTC-Mini you then switched the micro usb plug from the Mini's front connector port to the Presa's right before hitting the update button on your computer screen, right?

Oops sorry for my bad info.
It wasn't bad. It was actually true a few months ago so worst case is that it was a little out out of date. No biggie. :)

Exactly, although I tried it without and also with batteries. As soon as you disconnect the VTC Mini and connect the Presa you get a hardware not recognized pop-up notice. Maybe there's a secret that I'm not aware of but I haven't seen any recent videos or pictures of a Presa with VTC firmware. I'd love to use the VTC firmware but can't get it to load no matter how I try to load it. Tried old and new firmware launchers for both mods, copyed VTC Mini bin files into Presa firmware launchers, vice versa, batteries, no batteries... It simply doesn't load. Still, the 3.0 Presa firmware works every bit as well as the 3.0 VTC firmware. The screen layout is the only difference. I'm confident that Wismec will roll out a v3.01 with up & down watt adjustment eventually. We can only hope that they improve the font when they do.

Let's hope they actually hear you and do so... The most frustrating thing is that they actually have all they need to make this the best looking mod in the market already, the font AND the screen design... It's only a matter of combining the best of both previous screens!
