Single Coil position

Has anyone tried to run a velocity style rda in single coil, but position the coil diagonally between the posts?
It will add some length to the leads but seems like the wick position would be ideal.
Would obstruct air flow a bit also.
Looking for a set up to run on the Noisy Crickett and single coil seems like the way to go.
Any ideas??

What resistance are you looking to get? I just got a Noisy Cricket today. I did a dual 7 wrap 26awg that came in at around .53 I think it was.

Yes, a single coil can be done like that in the Velocity... However people much prefer the same setup in a phenotype-L because it sets up better airflow wise.

May I ask what your build experience is? I have a Noisy Cricket and I love it. What resistance are you shooting for with it? .25-.5 and even up is great for the Noisy, but those numbers can be reached with a dual coil set up too! And most fit in the Velocity no problem!

One of my favorites is a dual coil, 8 or 9 wrap Fused Clapton. It ohms out to about .35 with 2 28G cores


The Velocity style RDA offers a lot of room, so depending on what you like to build, you can get some serious surface area out of a coil set up and get great flavor and awesome power to the coils with the noisy cricket.

.25 is too low, it's 33.6 amps, plus 282 watts is insane . To be safe you really shouldn't go below .5 which is still a rowdy build at 141 watts. I like it between .7 - .8

No experience with custom coil making. I do use pre-made Clapton coils and wire.
I have experimented with Ti, Ni SS and of course all the Kanthals. Like the durability of SS best.
I do a ton of the research needed to be safe and ask questions first. Steam engine saves me from wasting time and material.
Trying some different configurations to get the vape I want. More of a flavor guy but enjoy a nice cloud. 0 % nic.
Will stay around 0.50 to 0.80 for safety reasons. Have not used a tank on the N.C. yet, but will soon.

Oh ya, chewed for years (10) and smoked (22) together and by themselves. Still miss my Beechnut.

7.4/.25=29.6

With the 'actual' velocity the air holes position is locked, this makes the centre coil build a bit shit.....unless it's on a TC mod in which case air running over the coils is not as important as it won't just build up heat as fast as it can. On attys with velocity style posts but where you can move the air holes round so its not straight into the cotton it works just fine....except for two things. 1. You need to get the coil quite high in the atty to get it in the airflow which leads to 2. You are likely to get a lot of spitback as your mouth is bang on the coil. Hot lava mouthwash might be OK for you though, some people like it. I don't usually run a centre coil in an rda unless it has some kind of anti-spitback driptip setup, cos lava drops are hot as hell.

.09 which works out to 46.67 amps is a REALLY stupid low build for a single battery Mod.

Thats why I used it for comparison for using a .2 on a Series box...not safe to use...maybe it was out of context

Yep, you nailed it.
If a Battery is rated at 20/30 the highest amp I go will be 18, maybe 19 if they're "new".

Good point about the spit back issue. Using the 510 tip helps. Lined up the air flow slots to hit the coil from the ends diagonally.
Put a 1.3 ohm single clapton in the Velocity just to experiment and got great flavor, but a very cool vape temp wise.
