In our previous clinical insights article on the cellular causes of prostate cancer, I discussed why normal prostate cells become cancerous and pointed toward environmental contributors as one of the culprits. There are a group of environmental toxins referred to as endocrine disruptors linked to prostate cancer development and progression. Today, I'd like to discuss where endocrine disruptors are most prevalent, how to reduce exposure, and how to eliminate them from your body when exposure is inevitable.

What are Endocrine Disruptors?

Endocrine disruptors are exogenous substances that interfere with the normal functioning of your body's natural hormones, acting as xenoestrogens (synthetic estrogen) or antiandrogens. Essentially, we are exposed to very low concentrations of multiple endocrine disruptors. The most known are pesticides, insecticides, plastic bottles (polycarbonate, bisphenol), lubricants (which may contain Nonylphenol), plastics, and food packaging.

Bisphenol A

Bisphenol A (BPA) is a common endocrine disruptor and a key ingredient in modern plastics found in the inner lining of canned foods. It may act as a xenoestrogen mimicking estrogen and attach to estrogen receptors by fooling the body into thinking it is endogenous. This process interferes with the normal functioning of hormones and may lead to prostate cancer in men. One study in prostate cancer cells showed that even a low amount of BPA initiated the proliferation of cancer cells (Wetherill et al. 2002). BPA is found in plastics and canned goods. So, while tomato sauce contains lycopene which is good for fighting prostate cancer, if it comes from a canned source with BPA, the BPA in the sauce may offset its benefits. Also, when plastic bottles, like plastic water bottles, are washed or exposed to heat, BPA chemicals leach into the water, making their way into the body from the contaminated water.

How can you minimize BPA exposure?

Decrease exposure. For example, plastic bottles have a recycling code at the bottom of the bottle that looks like a triangular arrow around a number. Avoid these numbers: 3, 6, and 7. Plastics with these numbers contain BPA.

Here are other tips to minimize Bisphenol A exposure.

  • Avoid canned foods. They often lack nutritional value and can have BPA leach into the food. Instead, use a glass container to store food. Note: glass containers do not contain BPA chemicals, but tops used to close glass containers do.
  • Avoid purchasing canned salmon or canned sardines in vinyl-lined cans containing BPA. Instead, we recommend contacting the manufacturers of these products to find out which ones use BPA-free cans. If you cannot find BPA-free cans, you may consider purchasing the fish in another (non-canned) form.
  • Don't microwave food or drinks in plastic containers—even if they claim to be "microwave safe." Heat can break down plastics and release chemical additives into food and beverages. In addition, microwaves heat unevenly, creating hot spots where the plastic is more likely to break down.
  • Don't use plastic containers for hot liquids—only cool liquids, if at all.
  • Don’t leave water in plastic bottles in your car on hot summer days.
  • Bring your own mug for coffee to the office and your coffee shop and use that instead.
  • Bring drinking water from home in glass water bottles instead of buying bottled water.
  • Store foods in the freezer in glass mason jars, not plastic bags.
  • Use stainless steel or high-heat-resistant nylon for utensils in lieu of plastics.

My Closing Thoughts

Environmental toxins, like BPA, are unavoidable. They are in the food we eat, the water we drink, the air we breathe, and many household items we use daily. Largely invisible, most go undetected and are harmless if exposure is limited. However, we can reduce exposure if you can detect where they are hidden. Lastly, nutritional and herbal support like Milk Thistle, glutathione, and broccoli extract helps the liver to rid the body of environmental toxins you are exposed to. Toxins that the liver (and kidneys) cannot properly filter out of your body can sometimes be expelled through sweating from rigorous physical exercise or saunas. At XY Wellness, we understand the importance of detoxification from environmental exposure, which is why physical exercise is one of the pillars of our program.

Additionally, our carefully formulated nutraceutical supplement in GDtoxSel has many nutrients to support proper liver detoxification. You'll be happy to know GDtoxSel is in Regimen 01, Regimen 02, and Regimen 03.

Let us know how we can help.

From Garden to Gut: Why Fermentation Matters
If you’ve ever looked at a basket of fresh veggies and wondered how to make them last (and actually boost their benefits), fermentation might be your new favorite tool.

It’s one of the simplest, most powerful ways to preserve your harvest—while also supporting your gut health, improving nutrient absorption, and adding incredible flavor to your meals. In fact, fermented foods naturally create beneficial probiotics that help balance digestion and strengthen your immune system.

In this week’s blog, we’re breaking down why fermentation is more than just preservation—and how it can transform the way you use your garden harvest.

There is something about springtime that pulls me toward fresh green herbs.

Cilantro has been showing up everywhere in my kitchen lately and I think you'll love what it can do for your hormones.

Here is why I love cilantro this time of year:

💚 It's a gentle detoxifier — cilantro naturally binds to heavy metals and helps escort them out of the body.

💚 It supports healthy estrogen balance — helping your liver clear excess estrogen, which can ease PMS and that heavy, sluggish feeling.

💚 It's rich in selenium — a key mineral for healthy thyroid function, which drives your metabolism and energy.

💚 It soothes digestion — calming the gut and helping your body break down food more easily.

This pesto is one of my favorite ways to use it. It comes together in minutes and works on just about anything, spooned over wild-caught salmon, stirred into roasted sweet potatoes or tossed with zucchini noodles.

Sprouts are a powerhouse for hormone balance
Cilantro Pesto

Ingredients:
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1 clove garlic, pressed or minced
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup toasted pine nuts (optional — omit or substitute with toasted walnuts if you don't tolerate them)
  • 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1 whole bunch of cilantro, chopped coarsely
  • 2 to 3 sprigs basil, leaves only
  • 1/8 tsp sea salt

Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients in the order listed to a high-powered blender or food processor.
  2. Blend until smooth and creamy. If you're using a high-powered blender, use a wooden spoon to gently tap the cilantro down as it processes.
  3. Taste and adjust — a little more lemon or salt if it needs a lift.
  4. Store in a glass jar in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Make this a complete hormone-balancing meal by pairing it with your favorite protein, grilled chicken or wild-caught salmon are both gorgeous with this pesto.

Love,

Robin xo

Eat This Plant Fat to Live Longer

By Chauncey Crandall, M.D.

There are three types of omega-3 fatty acids: eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), and alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). EPA and DHA are primarily found in fish while ALA fats are found in foods including vegetable oils, nuts, and leafy greens.

A study published in the British Medical Journal found that ALA was linked to a significantly lower risk of death from all causes.

Special: Top Cardiologist Formulated This for His Own Heart

Researchers analyzed 41 studies that examined the link between consuming plant-based ALA fats and lifespan, including the risk of developing cardiovascular disease.

“ALA fats are precursors to eicosanoids or signaling molecules which regulate many body functions such as gene expression, blood clotting, and inhibiting inflammation,” said Melissa Rifkin, a registered dietitian.

High levels of inflammation over prolonged periods can lead to life-threatening diseases. ALA is also thought to decrease the risk of heart disease by helping to maintain normal heart rhythm and may also reduce the risk of blood clots.

There is also some evidence that it can help regulate high blood pressure.

Hey Jimi,

Nearly half of children today are breathing dangerous levels of air pollution.

And it’s not just in big industrial cities…

It’s in neighborhoods, schools, playgrounds… even places that “seem safe”.

What’s more concerning is what this exposure may be doing inside their growing bodies.

Experts now warn it can affect lung development, increase the risk of respiratory illness… and even lead to long-term health issues later in life.

And because children breathe more air relative to their size…

They may be absorbing more of these harmful particles than adults… without anyone realizing it.

What’s even more alarming is that…

Many of these effects may not show up until years later.

See the full breakdown of how air pollution is affecting children today… and what you can do to help protect your family.

To your health,

🚨 We Need All Hands on Deck To Remove Harmful Sections From the 2026 Farm Bill

mail
Jimi,
The 2026 Farm Bill (HR 7567) is being discussed in Congress, and we must push for urgent amendments to strike three sections that stand to strip our nation of crucial constitutional, public health, free market, and ownership rights.
Sections 10205, 10206, and 10207 of HR 7567 would grant pesticide manufacturers a sweeping federal shield against accountability, preempt state and local authority over pesticide use, and exempt pesticides from longstanding federal environmental law.
These sections pose an existential threat to our nation’s health, and we must all make our voices heard to urge Congress to remove them from the bill. Please email your lawmakers today to demand removal of Sections 10205, 10206, and 10207.
The MAHA Action legislative tracker makes emailing your lawmakers simple. Just click the button below, enter your information on the right side of the webpage, and click “Send Message”! It takes less than 2 minutes to create a real impact and make your voice heard.
Tomorrow, the Supreme Court will hear Monsanto v. Durnell, a case that could shield chemical companies like Bayer, the foreign corporation behind Roundup (glyphosate), by granting them immunity from failure-to-warn lawsuits. Also, Bayer is pushing for the legal loopholes that Sections 10205, 10206, and 10207 would extend to every pesticide manufacturer. Tomorrow at 9 a.m. ET, The People vs. Poison rally will be held outside the Capitol to oppose these threats. You can learn more about the rally here, and we will send you a link to watch a livestream of the event tomorrow.

Amendment Summary + Why It Matters:

AMENDMENT SUMMARY

Sections 10205, 10206 & 10207

HR 7567 includes three dangerous provisions that would fundamentally reshape pesticide accountability and environmental law. Section 10205 would give pesticide manufacturers—including Chinese state-owned Syngenta—complete immunity from failure-to-warn lawsuits, the primary tool Americans use to hold companies accountable. The immunity applies regardless of whether companies knew about risks, buried studies, or refused to update labels. Section 10206 strips 50+ years of state and local pesticide regulation authority, preempting state police power. Section 10207 exempts EPA-registered pesticides from Clean Water Act permitting, Endangered Species Act consultation, and CERCLA cleanup obligations. This rewrites major environmental law without dedicated hearings. Bipartisan opposition includes 100+ House signatures and multiple Senate offices. Amendment 141, Amendment 29, and Amendment 301 would strike these sections, preserving accountability and environmental protections. You can read the full bill for yourself here.

WHY THE AMENDMENTS MATTER

Why This Matters to MAHA™

MAHA opposes Sections 10205, 10206, and 10207 because they contradict transparency, accountability, and informed consent. They shield manufacturers from liability when omitting critical safety warnings and codify regulatory capture by treating EPA approval as a liability shield, regardless of falsified data or silenced scientists. They strip states of authority to protect children from pesticide exposure. MAHA believes Americans must hold corporations accountable when the regulatory system fails. Supporting Amendments: (141), (29), and (301) are essential to advancing MAHA's health freedom agenda and ensuring corporate accountability.

Surprising Link Between Blood Sugar & Aging Skin

You can invest in the best skin care, but if your blood sugar is out of balance, your skin may still age faster than expected. Here’s why: Excess sugar in the bloodstream can trigger a process called glycation, which damages collagen and elastin, the very fibers that keep skin firm, smooth and youthful. Over time, this internal damage can lead to wrinkles, sagging and dullness that no topical product can fully fix. The good news? Supporting healthy blood sugar levels may be one of the most powerful (and overlooked) ways to protect your skin from the inside out.

Last year, I mentioned I was giving a cancer workshop at the Appleseed conference, where I laid out everything (well, maybe not EVERYTHING, but all the most important things at least)
as I see it, at least, there is something to know when it comes to how to heal or prevent cancer, based on my own experience going through it with Ryder…
and the over a decade I’ve spent since hosting weekly live Q&A’s with the best integrative cancer doctors, religiously going to every holistic cancer conference in the country, and being on the continual hunt for the BEST healing products through our weekly webinars…

Hi Jimi,

For most of medical history, the appendix had a reputation. And not a good one.

Vestigial.
Evolutionary leftovers. The organ that exists only to cause trouble.

Doctors removed it without a second thought. Scientists ignored it. Textbooks barely mentioned it, except as a cautionary tale about what happens when it gets inflamed.

And then researchers started asking a different question.

Not "what goes wrong with the appendix?" But "what is it actually doing?"

The answer has quietly rewritten everything.

Because it turns out the appendix isn't useless at all.

Researchers now describe it as a microbial "safe house" — a protected sanctuary where your most beneficial gut bacteria can ride out the disruptions that devastate the rest of your gut. A bout of gastroenteritis. A course of antibiotics. A round of chemotherapy.

When those things happen, your microbiome takes a serious hit. Diversity crashes. Beneficial species disappear.

But the appendix holds on. And when the storm passes, it replenishes — releasing stored bacterial populations back into the gut like a seed bank reseeding a landscape after a disaster.

It's been quietly doing this your entire life. Without any recognition. Without anyone even asking the question.

And it goes even further than that.

The appendix is also immunologically active — packed with lymphoid tissue that helps the body distinguish between beneficial and harmful bacteria. And specific species living in the appendix are involved in the production of neurotransmitters like GABA, serotonin, and dopamine.

Your appendix may have been quietly influencing your brain chemistry this whole time.

Which makes the long-term consequences of removing it — something we've been doing routinely for over a century — worth paying serious attention to.

Studies have found lower gut microbial diversity in people who've had appendectomies, along with associations with more severe C. difficile infection, elevated colorectal cancer risk, and more than double the risk of Crohn's disease.

I've written the full story in a new blog — the science, the consequences, the gut-brain connection, and what you can do to protect your appendix microbiome.
If you've already had yours removed — don't panic. The blog covers that too.

This Week’s Recipe:

This Week's Recipe: Roasted Asparagus and Chickpea Salad

This is one of those salads that earns its place at the table. Every ingredient is doing something for your gut. Asparagus is one of the richest sources of inulin — a prebiotic fiber that specifically nourishes Bifidobacterium, one of the key species your appendix is working to protect. Chickpeas add resistant starch and more prebiotic fiber. The olive oil delivers polyphenols that feed your best bacteria and keep harmful species in check. And the garlic in the dressing? A potent prebiotic in its own right. It comes together in under 30 minutes, works beautifully as a light lunch or a side, and your microbiome will absolutely love you for it.

Yours for better health, naturally,

Most people get blood work but never learn how to truly interpret it! They’re told “everything is normal” even though they feel ‘off’. This often happens because a marker was missed, or interpretation stopped short. Most standard medical ranges are built to catch disease, not early imbalance. In this live Lifesaving Labs learning session, I’ll show you how to look at your labs through a functional lens! This will help you spot issues early, advocate for yourself, and take appropriate action. >> Register Here

Two major studies found that what most people consider normal daily eating carries up to a 67% higher risk of heart attack, stroke, and death — and the foods driving this are surprising to most people.

In addition, Mount Sinai researchers just discovered that 1 in 3 people with blood pressure that won't come down — despite taking three or more medications — have a hidden health problem their doctors never tested for, and a solution that will surprise you.

5 Evidence-Based Exercises That Help You Live Longer

Image: Exercising
1. Brisk walking: 150-180 minutes per week where your heart rate is up but you can still hold a conversation. Commute on foot or go out for intentional walks first thing in the morning, on lunch breaks, or post-dinner each day.
  • Why: studies show that low-intensity steady-state movement supports fat oxidation, insulin sensitivity, and VO2 max over time.
  • Effects you can feel: more stable energy throughout the day with fewer afternoon crashes and better sleep quality.

2. Squats: 2-3 sets of 8-12 reps, a few times per week. If you sit for most of the day, set a timer to get up every 45 minutes and do 10 squats. Progress to holding weights as you get stronger.
  • Why: longevity researchers consistently link leg strength to lower all-cause mortality risk. Squats build muscle mass, improve bone density, and enhance glucose metabolism.
  • Effects you can feel: stronger, more stable knees, easier time getting up from chairs or off the floor, and improved circulation after long periods of sitting.

3. Kettlebell swings: short sets of 10–20 reps, 2–3 times per week. Add a few sets of kettlebell swings at the end of a workout, or as a quick standalone session when you’re short on time.
  • Why: studies on hip-hinge strength training show benefits for bone density, power output, and metabolic rate, all of which decline with age if left untrained. Kettlebell swings also improve cardiovascular fitness in minimal time.
  • Effects you can feel: a stronger, more supported lower back, better posture, and a noticeable increase in ease with everyday movements like climbing stairs or carrying groceries.

4. Controlled articular rotations (CARs): 5–10 minutes daily, moving each major joint slowly through its full range of motion. Wake up five minutes earlier and run through CARs for your hips, shoulders, and thoracic spine each morning before you get moving.
  • Why: slow, full-range rotations of individual joints are foundational for maintaining joint health over time. They stimulate synovial fluid production, preserve range of motion, and train the nervous system's awareness of where your body is in space.
  • Effects you can feel: Less morning stiffness, greater ease of movement throughout the day, and reduced joint discomfort.

5. Single-leg stands: 1-2 minutes per side, daily. Multitask by standing on one leg while brushing your teeth, waiting in line, or watching the news.
  • Why: the ability to stand on one leg for 10 seconds is independently associated with reduced all-cause mortality risk in middle-aged and older adults. Single-leg training challenges proprioception, strengthens the stabilizing muscles around the ankle and knee, and is one of the most accessible ways to reduce fall risk (a leading cause of injury and death for adults over 65).
  • Effects you can feel: reduced ankle wobble, greater confidence on uneven terrain, and noticeably better coordination and body awareness during other workouts.

Turmeric Superior to Chemical Mouthwash In Improving Oral Health

Since ancient times, turmeric has been used for remedying oral ailments, among other therapeutic applications too numerous to count.[1] Consider that plants like turmeric were first eaten for thousands of years before our species ever devised the modern day oddity of encapsulated or tableted extracts that could be swallowed without significant oral contact. It is only logical, therefore, that after long stretches of biological time, taking the root orally as either food, spice or medicine, it would agree with and have benefit for that part of our anatomy and its unique physiology.
