Last month I traveled to Belfast to visit the set of Krypton, SyFy's ambitious new series set 200 years before the planet's destruction. Instead of focusing on the man of steel, the David S. Goyer produced series takes a look at Kal-El's grandfather -- Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe). There's an evil from the future on its way that wants to destroy Krypton before Superman is born and Seg must find a way to protect his family's legacy.
While on a guided tour with Krypton's showrunner Cameron Welsh, we gained some insight into how the show is trying to tell its own story apart from Man of Steel and other DC Comics adaptations. The set design and costumes are impressive, which gives Krypton a scope that is truly awe-inspiring. From our short time there, it was clear that SyFy is taking Krypton seriously.
