18650 Battery Contacts

I wasn't sure where to Post this at.

I'm looking for a Good Resource for purchasing the Battery Contacts, NOT The Battery Sleds. Going to work in the near future on a Mech MOD. And I'm looking for a Place to Purchase the Battery Contacts.

I got some Strips of Copper I Plan on using for Soldering the Contacts on for Negative and Positive Contacts on.

If you are handy, why buy them?? Use .020 brass from a hobby shop and make them the way you need them.

Well I've never made them before. I suppose that I could.

I wasn't sure how much Springiness Copper or Brass was to use. I'm wanting ti eliminate the use of Copper/Brass Screws. Maybe make the Positive Pin once the tank is Screwed on to Press down and Make contact with the Postive Terminals on the Battery.

I'm Descent with Soldering and all. I've got some 1/8th Inch Thick Copper Strips I'm looking at on eBay cause I don't have any here.

I thought a Battery Clip or whatever soldered onto a Piece of Copper would be a Good Idea cause of the Springy Metal.

You don't see many battery trays in the real world w/ copper flat springs. Springiness and corrosion are the first reasons that come to mind. However, brass is used frequently. I have used .023 brass shim stock, but that may be a little (just a tad) thick. I am going to try .020 or .018 next time.

The pic came from a US site that manufactures contacts in bulk, but I added that to give you ideas and to show it is simply bent metal. Nuttin' fancy.

If you insist on copper..... try using copper rivets with springs thru an insulator and solder washers to hold them and wire in place on backside. Then you only need dimpled flat metal on the neg side - use riverts on tit (+) end. The springs will not be part of the circuit if you solder to rivets.

I don't have to use Copper. I thought it would be a BETTER Conductor for the Current. If Copper isn't recommended because of the Corrosion issue then I'll look into Brass. I got a Local Hobby Shop called Michaels, I'm sure they may have some. It just got built earlier this year and Not had time to check it out.

I just wanted something that was very conductive. And if Brass is more then copper then I'll use that. I also have a Woodlathe, I can turn VERY Soft Metals on it like Brass, Copper and Aluminum. I can always Make a Mech Firing Button and all if I have to. Only problem I can see with that is Finding the right Tap Set and Tapping before I make it lol.

Anyway, I'll check into Brass.
