3 Batteries vs 2 in your mod? What do you find gives you good longevity throughout the day?

Captain Dabber here.

While I wait on the last 150 pages of my print job... (before heading home to a warm shot of whiskey and a trench in the MFLB), I got to wondering:

I've got this awesome Rx 2/3. I've been running it with all 3 (genuine) HG2's. I have 6 of those bad boys altogether. Since I've found an excellent priced juice supply, I've gone back to the stock coils in my all day tank, the mythical TFV8. I find I like the quad (.15ohm) somewhere between 70-95w. I'm a fairly heavy vaper, lots of chain vaping. I swapped fresh batteries in around 7 hours ago, and I'm sitting in the neighborhood of 30%. Pretty decent life, and I'm not complaining. Swapping batteries throughout the day isn't an issue, I've got a decent case.

I'm wondering, and positing the question to the wealth of knowledge and experience that I've found here - With my preferred wattage range, would I be better off running my 2/3 with just 2 batteries? I'm going to experiment. Starting tomorrow, I'm going to run with just 2. I'm curious to find what others think.

Random extra question: I've spent some time browsing through Mooch's work. While I like the HG2's performance and capacity, would I benefit from running a higher amp battery with lower capacity? It might just be me, but I've found myself puzzled after pouring over the results that Mooch has come up with.

3 batteries. You will see a marked drop off in vape time with 2.

3 will last longer then 2.

As for the capacity vs. Amp rating, at the 70-95W range you are perfectly safe using just 20A batteries in either 2 or 3 configuration so you might as well go with the higher capacity 20A ones, like 30Q, HG2, VTC6

Def 3 and Smok is coming out with a 4 18650 mod at the end of the month think it's called the power engine and it's a ridiculous 400 watts. No need for that but the 4 batteries should give the heaviest of vapers a whole day of vaping.

I can't remember where I was reading or hearing that others notice less overall vape time with 3 vs 2. Doesn't matter I suppose.

I'm not saying nobody will use it, ever, because just a couple years ago, that's what people were saying about pushing past the 30-50w range. My Reuleaux is heavy in its 3 battery form, but I find it to be very ergonomic. I don't think I'd find myself wanting something that bulky AND powerful. My local B&M's have 2 or 3 300w boxes total, and I haven't personally met anyone who wants to vape at that range without using a mech.

I find that 3 batteries last longer than 2, as we all will due to the increase in W/h's.

Saying that though, I use single, dual and triple 18650 mods on a regular basis. I think really it is what you personally want-a triple 18650 mod will last longer, but in general is bigger and heavier than a mod with less batteries.

So, if you want the longest battery life, 3 batteries will last longer than 2. But, do you have room to carry a large mod with you? I find that often I take out a smaller, single 18650 mod, but I don't often travel for long so this is OK for me. Also if you are vaping at higher wattages a mod with more batteries will be better than one with less.

Whatever you decide, don't break up your sets of batteries its not ok to use two batteries in a married pair and occasionally swap in a third you need to have a married pair and a married set of three and use them that way.
