Put some 26g Mad Rabbit Annealed SS 317L Wire in my Goblin Mini, 8 wrap duals and a 2.5mm ID that oHm'd out at .15

Seems to be temp controlling ok, takes a couple of seconds to reach TP and then backs off and ramps up again. Flavor isnt as bright as the Ni200 I had, but the vapor is thicker.

Anyone else used this particular grade of SS, and how was the longevity?

Ive wanted to try the various SS wires in TC but IDK if its even possible on a Snow Wolf V1.5 ....Its the only TC I would try, Ive heard good things and it can also be used in power mode. Im sorry I cannot answer your question but be happy you have done what some like me still would like to try out.

This is on the VTC mini, which from what I understand was set for 316L.

Im not sure of the major differences between the two steels.

I feel like it would work on the SW if it has a SS option, at least in the capacity it works on my VTC.

After messing with it for a little bit, Ive figured it probably runs hotter than the displayed temp. 380-400 feels like 520 in Ni200 mode.

I'm using 316L SS in TC on a DNA200. I was getting bad results until I started building spaced coils. With contact coils, looking at a puff in Escribe, it was an extremely jagged graph. As soon as I slightly spaced the coils the graph smoothed out like Ni200 and Ti1.

Cheers,
Steve

PS haven't tried 317 so I can't tell you anything about it's longevity.

These are contact, Ill give spaced a go tonight and see if it gives me a different TC experience.

Anything wrong with dry burning SS to shape? I know the other TC mediums arent suppose to be dry burned, but I repeatedly heated the SS to shape it and get the heating pattern even.

Hope that wasnt a fuck up on my part lol.

I don't think so, but I've not seen anything from a source I would consider reputable either way. What I did was gently pulse it with low power (when I was trying it with contact coils), just trying to get it to barely glow because I don't really know if it's a no no.

Cheers,
Steve

Just wanna watch this thread......
I'm joining you. :)
So far, I've been using my Crown tanks with the replacement coils, on my Reuleaux DNA. Interestingly, results vary with the resistance of the particular coil. I have two tanks with the 0.25 Ohm coil, and two with the 0.5 Ohm coil. I thought, the temperature settings of the profiles shouldn't matter in regards to vapor/flavor production. However, there's a difference, utilizing the same File generated with the steam engine (316L SS). The coils with the 0.5 Ohm coils pretty much worked from scratch, utilizing the same temperature and Watt settings, I've been using with my Evic VTC Mini. The 0.25 Ohm coils needed some major adjustments in temperature and Wattage. I used Escribe's Device Monitor to adjust temperature and Wattage, in order to get the proper results. I was fireing the mod (while connected), watching the temperature curve. I had to play around a lot to get the expected result. Well, I did get it dialed in for those tanks. In short, that's why there's Escribe, in order to have profiles for the tank, and it's coil(s).

Oh, forgot to mention, with both SS TC profiles, I'm not using the preheat.

So,
After repositioning the coils and spacing them with a sewing needle and re thruming them, the TC is def smoother and the actual temp is closer to the displayed temp.

I like SS as it seems to produce more vapor than Ni200 for some reason, but I dont think the flavor is all that different. Maybe even the Ni200 having a slight edge flavor wise.

Though its worth mentioning, some Ni wire leaves a metallic taste in my mouth with lightly flavored juices like my favorite local juice Blueberry Lemonade.

Goblin Mini
That might be the issue, not sure, due to not having one. I love the Crown as it is. First on my VTC Mini, now on my Reuleaux DNA. However, having the (regular) Goblin, I wasn't that happy with it's performance either. In that category, I preferred the Billow V2, and Cthulhu V2. In addition, they were easier to get the wicking right too. I still have to find out about the Bellus and Crius, which I consider to be in the same category.

At more than 30w it TPs quickly. I feel like i get more vapor quicker with less wattage, even though that makes no sense at all.

i just put a 26g mad rabbit (blue) dual build in my marquis clone ... locked @ .27Ω, 60w 380f ... feels like a single ni200 .2Ω build @ 530f, with 10x thicker vapor. flavor suffers just a hair, even in the marquis.

i would love to know the proper TCR for this now that the RX board has custom slots ...

What grade of SS is Mad Rabbit Blue (I'm assuming it's SS)? Is it a company secret?

Cheers,
Steve

Seen it marked as 317L, they won't release the composition.

It was way better than the 316 I picked up vapor production wise, flavor was a little better on the 316, but I imagine with the right TCR curve it would be awesome as a TC wire.

I just received my order of the 430 SS from Unkamen Supplies earlier today. If you look at the reviews it seems like a lot of the people are using it for TC and like it. With the higher TCR (.00138) it seems smoother than 316L in TC on my DNA200 mods. So far I'm very happy with the way it's performing in TC. I made both single and dual coils today and it's working great on all four of my DNA200 mods! The site says: No Nickel, tarnish free, corrosion free, will last forever, 100% Guarantee, and Made In The USA. What's not to love.
