I am thinking building a 3d printed box mod. I have found several plans and it is tempting. Anybody here try this? I saw a couple for DNA boards with a component list as well.

Thoughts?

Its no different than using an aluminum box..If you can solder and drill it should be straight forward.

Do you plan to use a mosfet and 15k capacitor?..maybe some parallel fuses and an on/off switch?

I will if that is the best option.

safety is always the best option..you can find many diagrams on how to wire everything up..at minimum you will want a mosfet and a 15k capacitor to protect the firing switch..Fuses and on/off switches are options.

check out youtube on some builds to get a sense of whats involved..its not all that bad really.

Just a slight correction. It is a 15K Resistor not a capacitor that is needed to use with a mosfet to protect the switch.

So, I am looking at a couple builds. One is a DNA 40, the other is a YiHi SX350J. Which is the better chip? What is the best chip I should look for a build on?

I also found a nice looking DNA 200 build. What is the best site to source the parts needed?

BoxModGuys and Motley mods are my go to sources...BMG is where I get boxes and battery sleds...Motley I buy everything else from pretty much.

Alpine boxes are pre drilled for DNA style chips but they are a bit costly.

you can buy DNA chip holders also that have been 3d printed..im sure you can find those on ebay or someplace like that.

I would start with a basic box mod to get a feel for a build then upgrade as you see fit...You can buy an entire kit from motley for $20.00

I am going to 3d print the box. I have all the build files already and I can customize the look and feel quite a bit. I just need the parts that go into it. I will checkout those sites
