A few years ago, we decided to move away from the Disqus platform and adopt the Livefyre comment platform across IGN. Back in May of 2015 we were excited about Livefyre’s planned development roadmap and what it could bring to IGN readers. Shortly after we had spent the resources to port over comment history and build Livefyre into IGN, circumstances changed for that company, as they were acquired, and had to pivot in some of the goals they were aiming to achieve. We also shared your feelings about things like spotty notifications, bad performance, random scrolling, and lack of threads on filtered comments.
With all of that, and continued feedback from you, the community, we’re leaving behind Livefyre and moving to a new platform that is more modern, open, has a growing community of developers, and used by some of the best news sites on the web. We’re making this investment because we want to control our own destiny with experience and features on IGN, and we want to be able to give you all better and more engaging tools to interact with each other.
