A question about my new KBox Mini

So I recently decided to quit smoking cigarettes (a pack a day) and move over to vaping. I have tried this before and got great results, but at the time it was harder to find stuff for vaping in my small town. About a week and a half ago I went out of town and purchased a Kbox Mini, got some eJuice that had 6mg of nicotine and went from there. My problem came up about two days ago, After my first atomizer needed replaced (0.5 Ohm) I used the other in my box (1.5 Ohm) and it was way to harsh. I did some research and discovered I guess the 1.5 Ohm atomizer is for Mouth to Lung hits, so I went and bought a pack of OCC 0.5 Ohm ones and put a 0.5 back into it, but now the new 0.5 one makes me cough when I try to get the clouds I could get from my original 0.5 Ohm one. It tastes harsher too.

My current e-Juice doesn't have nicotine in it either.

What could be causing this?

Thanks!

Moving this over to Clearomizers since it seems your question is primarily about your Subtank...

Do you know what the PG/VG blend is on the liquid you're using? Are you priming the coil with a few drops of liquid before you install it and making sure to let it fill up before trying to vape? If you burn the cotton in the coil, any further attempt to use it is going to taste burnt and harsh...some people re-wick their factory coils, but I can't personally talk about that.

One trick I do have for the older horizontal Subtank coils (they've recently changed over to vertical coils, not sure what you have) is to gently make a couple impressions in the cotton at each liquid port on the sides with a needle - it helps thicker liquids wick better and avoids dry hits.

If you've changed liquids recently, it could also be that the new flavor you've got just sucks, or needs to sit in the bottle and steep for a week or two before it's ready to vape...

Thanks for the replies!

I have been wetting the coil before using and letting sit for around 10 minutes before vaping.
As for VG/PG I was using 50/50 then recently switched to 100% VG, Once this problem came up i switched back to the 50/50 tho.

You definitely have to poke holes in the cotton to go high-VG with the horizontal coils, if that's what you're running...I couldn't go above 17-18 watts or take more than one toke every 3-4 minutes until I learned about it, now I can take my 10/90 mixes up to 30 watts and chain vape no problem.

The box says they are the new vertical coils, but how can I know for sure?

look in the coil from the top, the coil should run from top to bottom, not side to side. BTW, see if you can get some OCC .5 Ohm coils that are not Vertical. They produce much more flavor IMHO.

Okay I checked and did find something. The original 0.5 OCC coil that came with the KBox Mini was a vertical, but the new ones I have been using are Horizontal. I replaced the coil today thinking maybe It was just user error and I messed it up, and tried out a 1.2% nicotine juice and it seems to be working a little better, still rough at times.

Maybe Im hitting it to much? I use to be a pack to 2 pack a day smoker so I do smoke the hell out of it. Could that be why it is giving a harsh throat hit?

What watts are you using it at? Since you just quit recently, it will seem a bit harsh. I was for me and quite a few others. I'd try a mint flavored juice for a while, that will help as your body gets rid of the toxic crap from smoking. I smoked 2 packs a day for almost 30 years, the first month or so was me adjusting to vaping and the crud clearing out of my system.

I was running at 26-28 watts, It was working fine, now I had to move down to 22 watts for it to be slightly enjoyable.

Adjusting the vape to your taste is all that matters.
