A solid 18650 mech, not Hybrid.

Hello everyone.

I mainly use regulated mods, but do enjoy using Mechanical mods from time to time, and have around 10 mechs, mostly 18650 but some 26650 mechs.

My favourite of them all is called a Tree of life, and runs on a single 26650 battery. I like it as it just works very well, the fire button does not get hot, and the contacts are a nice size and easy to clean.

Ideally, I would love a 18650 mech that is as good as this. I do have a copper Bamboo JA clone which I thought was perfect, but the positive contact is quite strange and large on this, and worries me it will cause a short (It already has once).

I could insert the battery upside down, but I do not want too due to the risk of a slightly torn wrapper-I inspect my batteries, but a very small tear could go unnoticed.

So, can anyone recommend a solid performing 18650 mech for me, which is not a hybrid? I have enough Hybrid style mechs, I want one with a standard 510 connection for the future, in case all of my mods ever fail.

Thanks everyone, Conan.

Vaperz Cloud X1 - quality high performing mod at a very reasonable price.

Comes with both options for straight to battery and floating pin 510. 24mm single 18650 tube mod.

I really like Gus mods out of Greece and have 4 of them.

They can get pricy, but the last 2 I bought were $72US each shipped. As good if not better than my GP, HoH and Nemesis authentics.

Excellent stuff and I use one daily.

Thank you both for your replies.

To me, those are rather expensive, I usually purchase clone mechs in all honesty, but for a solid performer I don't mind getting one that is authentic.

The Gus Mods one is a little cheaper but sold out at the moment unfortunately, the X1 is £72.99, I am a little worried spending that much though before knowing how it performs to me- I do have a few shops that are local (I hate brick and mortar stores though round here-the type of people they attract and the staff) but they may have some mods I can try out before dropping a bit more money on an authentic mech.

For more info and a breakdown of their parts check out their site:http://gus-mod.gr/zencart_gus/

Though the one in the photo is quite expensive, there are other plainer cheaper models.

Thanks for the link, I am looking on there now at the mods.

I must ask though, I notice that in the description it states "top cap SS with pole fused at 12 ampere max "- I gather this means the mod is designed to work with builds that pull 12A and under?

This would be OK though, as for my mechs I tend to use single coils, and 50W would be plenty for my style of vaping.

EDIT: I realise this is a fuse by the look of the description? This would be my first mech with a fuse, nice to know there is some kind of protection there though.

While there is a fused button assembly, there is also a cheaper non fused button assembly like this one:
http://gus-mod.gr/zencart_gus/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=58_7_20&products_id=37

You don't have to buy the fused one.

They come in all shapes and sizes, 18650 or smaller, telescopic or non telescopic, fused or non fused.
The series (pattern) in my photo is called "Kiss" and a rectangular pattern is called "Lord" and there is also no pattern matte or polished, single color or multi colored, brass or SS.

You can use a standard positive pin as well. Remove the fuse and screw in something like a Nemesis pin. Works perfectly, but I prefer the fuse unless I am using a 0.2ohn-ish build (which is rare).

I have a Titan tube mech mod. I love this thing. Nice, firm fire button, easily adjustable to accommodate different sized 18650's and a very solid performing mod.

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.

I have 6 Greeks, including a Gus Lord, but the 2 GP Paps are the best of the bunch. Their switches are the smoothest in the industry.

There are a couple of GP Paps in the "Hardware" section of the "Trading Post".

I will be honest, the Titan is a bit out of my price range for a mech- the Gus mods are even expensive to me (I mainly collect regulated mods, but do enjoy mechs from time to time).

Nice to know the fused button assembly is an option, I did not realise this-although it is rare for me to build very low on a mech. I use 25R's or HE4's mainly, and always stick within their limits. I know I would likely be OK going lower and lots of people do, but I still can get an enjoyable vape without going too low so there isn't much reason for me too.

I am in the UK myself, so I haven't actually used the trading section on here before as I gathered it was mostly USA based?

Thank you all for your help and advice.
