@2WhiteWolves proposed an idea to some of us that frequent the music game thread to throw a party for @Bliss Doubt to thank her for her many contributions to VU.

From welcoming new members, offering help to vapers with questions, congratulating members on their vapeversary or other milestones, to preparing special celebrations for folks’ birthdays, and even organizing a VU Halloween party, Bliss puts much care and love into her participation here at VU.

Following Wolfie's lead, we decided to put together a Special Day to thank Bliss.
We have planned a Mediterranean adventure as our way of thanking her, and invite all of you to join in and say hello or just come along for the ride.

We will be departing soon on a chartered jet that will take us to the city of Barcelona in Spain, where our adventure will begin.
We hope that you will join us on our little diversion and that you enjoy your time
with us!

Barcelona: The Soul of Catalonia

Barcelona is a city that dances to its own rhythm. Nestled between the mountains and the sea, it is a living museum of Catalan Modernism, famously shaped by the whimsical genius of Antoni Gaudí. As you stroll through its labyrinthine Gothic Quarter or the grand boulevards of Eixample, you'll encounter a vibrant tapestry of Roman ruins, sandy beaches, and a world-class culinary scene that thrives in bustling markets and hidden tapas bars.

The Cascada Monumental is Barcelona's grand, ornate waterfall and fountain in Parc de la Ciutadella, a masterpiece by Josep Fontserè with early input from a young Antoni Gaudí for the 1888 Universal Exposition, featuring classical sculptures, crab-pincer stairs, and a golden Aurora statue, drawing crowds to its beauty and historic charm.

The Magic Fountain of Montjuïc is a famous ornamental fountain in Barcelona known for its spectacular evening shows of water, light, and music, located at the foot of the Palau Nacional near Plaça d'Espanya. Originally built for the 1929 International Exposition, it features choreographed water jets, colored lights, and music, using recycled water and LED technology for a sustainable and dazzling display.

Park Güell is a whimsical public park in Barcelona, Spain, designed by architect Antoni Gaudí, famous for its colorful mosaics, unique architecture, and city views, and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Originally planned as a luxury housing development, it opened as a public park in 1926 and is now one of Barcelona's most popular attractions, requiring timed-entry tickets for its monumental zone. Key features include the iconic salamander fountain, fairytale-like houses at the entrance, and serpentine benches, all showcasing Catalan Modernism.

As we cruise to the island of Corsica and the city of Ajaccio, we hope you will enjoy exploring and getting to know the Félicité Marée.
Just a few typical things to get us started are soaking in the atmosphere with a good book or drink while lounging on deck,
Image_fx.png (2).jpg

or perhaps taking advantage of the ship's spa services
Image_fx.png (3).jpg

Maybe a game of shuffleboard,

Dancing in the ballroom,
Image_fx.png (9).jpg

or in the nightclub,

Ajaccio: The Imperial City

The birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte, Ajaccio is the sun-drenched capital of Corsica. Set against a backdrop of rugged mountains and turquoise bays, the city exudes a relaxed Mediterranean elegance. Its old town is a maze of pastel-colored buildings and narrow streets that lead to lively markets and a charming harbor. Here, French sophistication meets rugged island tradition, offering a unique blend of historical grandeur and coastal tranquility.
Screenshot_20260121_095423_Chrome.jpg

We might visit the Maison Bonaparte which is the ancestral home of Napoleon Bonaparte, now a national museum showcasing the family's history and Corsican life in the 18th century. Located on Rue Saint-Charles, the museum features period furniture, family portraits, and artifacts, including the room where Napoleon was born, offering insight into his early life before his family fled Corsica.

A visual tour,

Art lovers can visit the Musée Fesch which is located within a 19th-century palace. It houses one of France’s finest collections of Italian Old Master paintings. Established by Cardinal Joseph Fesch, Napoleon Bonaparte's uncle, the museum showcases works by Botticelli, Titian, and Michelangelo, alongside a significant Napoleonic portrait gallery.

We might enjoy some sun on the beach below The Citadelle d'Ajaccio (Miollis Citadel) which is a historic 15th-century Genoese fortress,

Screenshot_20260202_110513_Chrome.jpg

We’ll enjoy dining with a scenic view,
Screenshot_20260202_111854_Keep Notes.jpg

We can indulge in some shopping along Rue Cardinal Fesch, a bustling, primarily pedestrian street known for shopping, cafes, and its central role in the city's cultural life.
The street is packed with boutiques, craft shops, and cafes where visitors can relax and experience the local, lively atmosphere.
Screenshot_20260121_101533_Chrome.jpg

Afterwards, we can enjoy some traditional Corsican music in a cafe,

Or close out the evening with a visit to the casino, where we can take in some dancing, music, or a game of chance,

While we hope that everyone’s pockets are heavy with good fortune after our visit to the casino, it is now time to return to the Félicité Marée where we will sail to our next destination, Marseilles!

Cruising time again!

As we depart Ajaccio for Marseilles, we invite you all to join us for an honorary birthday party for Bliss.
She has never revealed her true birthday to us, so we decided that this Mediterranean adventure would include a birthday party for her as well.
We'll give everyone plenty of time to get ready and meet up around noon to get things started with a Ramen buffet,
Image_fx.png (8).jpg

After our Ramen lunch munch, we’ll head down to the Scat Ballou Jazz bar and lounge for drinks and music,
Image_fx.png (22).jpg

We will continue our festivities in the French show bar and lounge, Le Rêve Étoilé,
Image_fx.png (27).jpg

After music and drinks it is time to present Bliss with her honorary birthday cake,
1000017065.jpg

As our celebration for Bliss on this day winds down, you might join us for some relaxation on deck,
e5f638e2-7e26-4cb8-bbf5-870cc917f3b5.png

Perhaps after all the festivities have settled down, Bliss might enjoy a vape and a song,

And so we close out this special day of birthday celebration for Bliss and will shortly arrive in Marseilles for more adventure.

Marseille: The Gateway to the Orient

Founded by the Greeks around 600 BC, Marseille is France's oldest and second-largest city. It is a gritty, vibrant, and multifaceted port city with a soul that is deeply tied to the Mediterranean. The heart of the city is the Vieux Port (Old Port), where fishmongers sell their morning catch. Marseille offers a blend of historic charm in its Le Panier district and cutting-edge modernity in its waterfront museums, all surrounded by the stunning limestone cliffs of the Calanques.
Screenshot_20260108_163414_Chrome.jpg

We might visit the Basilique Notre-Dame de la Garde, an iconic 19th-century Romano-Byzantine basilica. Perched 157 meters high on a limestone hill, it offers 360-degree views of the city. Known as "La Bonne Mère" (The Good Mother), it features a giant golden Virgin Mary statue, rich, colorful mosaics, and serves as a symbol of protection for sailors and locals.
Screenshot_20260108_163632_Chrome.jpg

We can enjoy shopping and dining at Les Docks Village. It is a renovated 19th-century warehouse complex turned into a modern, vibrant shopping and dining destination in the La Joliette district. It features ~60 shops, restaurants, and cafes centered around four distinct, themed inner courtyards, showcasing industrial architecture blended with contemporary design.
Screenshot_20260201_105947_Chrome.jpg

We can enjoy a picnic on the beach,
Screenshot_20260108_105149_Chrome.jpg

Try some traditional Bouillabaisse,
Screenshot_20260201_112537_Chrome.jpg

We can satisfy any cravings for sweets at a patisserie,
Screenshot_20260201_111512_Chrome.jpg

Later on we might take in a show at a cabaret,
Screenshot_20260108_104611_Chrome.jpg

or enjoy some musicians performing around town,

We hope everyone has enjoyed their visit to Marseilles, but it is now time to return to the Félicité Marée for our return trip to Barcelona, and then on to home.
But, one last adventure awaits…

As we cruise back to Barcelona, we have one more adventure in store - A Mystery Dinner Party!

Our players will be: Bliss Doubt, gopher_byrd, 2WhiteWolves, Jimi, SnapDragon NY, gloopdegurp.

Here is our special invitation from Captain Sterling,

Dear Passenger,
Pack your finest silks and sharpen your wit. You are cordially invited to join us for an exclusive dinner celebrating the launch of Jean-Luc Vaneer’s "Cruisewear Collection."
We will be dining in the Cafe Noir lounge.
Cafe Noir 02 Image_fx.png.jpg

Dress Code:
"High Fashion & High Stakes." Whether you are a model, a musician, or a member of the press, please dress to impress. In the world of Jean-Luc Vaneer, looking "cheap" is the only unforgivable sin.

A Word of Warning:
The waters are calm, but the industry is turbulent. Tensions are high between Monsieur Vaneer and his inner circle. We suggest you keep your friends close and your lifejackets closer.

Please RSVP to confirm your seating assignment.

Fair winds and following seas,
Captain Sterling
Commander of the MS Félicité Marée

Jean-Luc Vaneer, a legendary (and notoriously cruel) Parisian fashion designer. He boarded in Marseille to debut his "Cruisewear Collection.”

We begin our evening of mystery with drinks before dinner…

● The Midnight Marseille: A dark gin fizz with blackberry liqueur.
● The Rocker’s Solo: A stiff whiskey sour with a heavy "bass line" of bitters.
● The Muse’s Mocktail: Sparkling elderflower, mint, and a splash of "staying relevant" lime.
BD DR.jpg
…when we are suddenly interrupted by Captain Sterling.

The Captain stands, tapping a glass with a spoon to get everyone’s attention.
His expression is grave.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, Distinguished Guests... and those of you who managed to sneak aboard in Marseille.
I am Captain Sterling, and it is my duty to welcome you aboard the MS Félicité Marée .

Usually, this is the part of the evening where I invite you to the buffet and remind you that the lifejackets are located under your seats. However, our voyage has hit a sudden, tragic snag.
Tonight, the world of fashion has lost its brightest—and perhaps most arrogant—star.

At 11:00 PM, the legendary Jean-Luc Vaneer was found dead in the VIP Lounge. He was found slumped over his own sketches, a glass of poisoned champagne still in his hand.
The ship’s doctor has confirmed foul play. The killer didn't just want Jean-Luc out of the industry; they wanted him off the planet. Because we are currently in international waters, maritime law dictates that no one leaves this dining room until the culprit is identified.

We have six primary suspects among us.

● Bliss (Bliss Doubt), the Supermodel whose career was on the line.

● Gopher (gopher_byrd), the Assistant who was pushed too far.

● Wolfie (2WhiteWolves), the Rival whose ideas were being stolen.

● Jimi (Jimi), the Rocker who was tired of the lawsuits.

● Snap (SnapDragon NY), the Paparazzo who would do anything for a headline.

● Gloop (gloopdegurp), the Critic who was about to be silenced.

Screenshot_20260217_161454_Xodo.jpg

Look at the person sitting next to you. Are those designer shoes worth killing for? Or is there a darker secret hidden beneath the sequins?
I am deputizing all of you as investigators. Question the suspects, examine the evidence, and watch your backs. In the world of high fashion, some looks are truly... to die for.
Let the investigation begin!”

As our appetizers arrive, Captain Sterling introduces a special guest who will aid him in the investigation, Inspector Clothessew, a famous French detective who also boarded in Marseilles for an appointment in Barcelona.
1772466598-Image_fx.png.jpg

Appetizer Menu:

● "Stolen Sketch" Salad: Crisp arugula, shaved fennel, and "shredded" parmesan, tossedin a sharp lemon-and-rivalry vinaigrette.
● Prawn Cocktail "Catwalk": Chilled Marseille shrimp served on a "runway" of ice with a spicy cocktail sauce.
● "The Blacklisted" Escargot: Traditional Parisian snails in a garlic and "secret-keeping" herb butter.
BD AP.jpg

As we enjoy the appetizers, motives are uncovered and revealed,

• Bliss - Jean-Luc was threatening to fire her and "blacklist" her from every major house in Paris.

• Gopher - Tired of being treated like a servant, Jean-Luc hadn't paid Gopher's salary in six months.

• Wolfie - Jean-Luc allegedly stole Wolfie's "Winter Grunge" sketches and passed them off as his own.

• Jimi - Jean-Luc was suing Jimi for "tarnishing the brand" after a wild party in London.

• Snap - Jean-Luc was threatening a restraining order against Snap, who was desperate for one "career-making" photo.

• Gloop - Jean-Luc wrote a scathing letter to Gloop’s editors, trying to get Gloop fired for a bad review.

Four dishes were on offer for our main course,

The "Signature Collection"
● "The Assistant’s Revenge" Coq au Vin: Chicken braised in a deep red wine—as dark as Gopher’s heart—served with pearl onions and button mushrooms.
● "Zen Spa" Risotto (Vegetarian): A calming, creamy saffron risotto topped with "Bliss-ful" roasted asparagus and truffle oil.
● The "Wolfie" Grunge Steak: A rugged, pepper-crusted New York Strip, "deconstructed" with smashed fingerling potatoes and a charred peppercorn sauce.
● Salmon "Sur Seine": Pan-seared Atlantic salmon with a "silk ribbon" of hollandaise sauce, served over a bed of sautéed leeks.
BD MC.jpg

Things began to heat up as alibis were presented and accusations cast,

• Bliss - was in the Zen Spa getting a facial, though she did send the esthetician on an errand to fetch her makeup bag from her suite and so was left unattended for a time. Bliss suggested that Wolfie, as an aspiring designer, had the most to gain with Jean-Luc out of the way.

• Gopher - was running errands for Jean-Luc - specifically fetching dry cleaning from the ship’s laundry, though he said the staff there was busy and didn't notice him. Gopher said that Jean-Luc bragged to him about “stealing Wolfie's soul” - her Winter Grunge collection sketches - and wouldn't be surprised if Wolfie had taken her revenge.

• Wolfie - was in the ship's library researching fabrics. The librarian recalled that Wolfie made a disturbance by knocking over a large stack of books. Wolfie said she saw Snap lurking near the VIP Lounge shortly before Jean-Luc’s death.

• Jimi - was performing on stage in the Lido Deck lounge, though he disappeared behind stage props during the entirety of a 20 minute guitar solo. Jimi said he saw Gloop apparently hiding something in a potted plant just outside the VIP Lounge earlier as he was on his way to perform.

• Snap - was on the lifeboat deck, though no one saw her as she was hiding out of sight while trying to get some candid celebrity photos. Snap saw Bliss crying outside the VIP Lounge not long before Jean-Luc's murder.

• Gloop - was in the main dining room to review the upcoming Midnight Buffet. Some guests there recall Gloop complaining loudly about the quality of the food. Gloop suggested that Jimi is a “loose cannon” as he is often under the influence of various substances and doesn't recall what he has done.

Time for dessert!

Dessert menu (The "Final Stitch")
● The "Last Sip" Sorbet: A tart lemon and champagne sorbet (Warning: Guaranteed 100% sedative-free!).
● "Crying Critic" Crème Brûlée: A classic vanilla bean custard with a "cracked" sugar crust—as fragile as Gloop’s ego.
● "The Paparazzo" Profiteroles: Cream puffs drizzled in chocolate ganache (perfect for hiding evidence).
BD DE.jpg

As we dig into our desserts, Inspector Clothessew gives an account of his investigation. Through the gathering of evidence/clues which were presented throughout the evening, along with interviews of the ship’s staff and guests, the Inspector has arrived at the solution.

• Wolfie - although Wolfie was overheard arguing with Jean-Luc earlier on in his cabin and witnessed leaving there carrying part of a torn sketch - the other half of which was found clutched in Jean-Luc's cold hand - it can be confirmed that she was indeed in the library at the time of the murder and never had the opportunity to tamper with Jean-Luc’s drink.

• Jimi - it was discovered that Jimi did leave the stage after his guitar solo began by turning on a recording of his solo after he disappeared behind the stage props. He was witnessed entering the VIP Lounge to confront Jean-Luc, but found him slumped over and unresponsive, and then fled back to the Lido Deck lounge in a panic. One of the ship's staff had just discovered Jean-Luc’s dead body and hid when he heard Jimi entering the lounge, fearing the murderer was returning. It was deemed that Jimi’s movements did not allow him the opportunity to put the lethal dose of sedative into Jean-Luc's drink.

• Bliss - while the lethal dose of the rare sedative that killed Jean-Luc is the same as that which Bliss uses and carries in her makeup bag, it was determined that she did indeed remain in the spa and was nowhere near the VIP Lounge or the champagne that delivered the fatal dose to Jean-Luc.

• Gloop - while Gloop did have a confrontation with Jean-Luc just before going to review the buffet, during which Jean-Luc doused Gloop with a glass of cognac, witnesses can corroborate that Gloop was at the buffet the whole evening, sulking and miserable! Although Gloop’s press pass was found at the scene of the crime, it was determined that he would not have had the opportunity to spike or deliver Jean-Luc's deadly drink.

• Snap - while witnesses recall seeing Snap taking photos on the lifeboat deck earlier in the evening, she appears to have left there shortly before the time of Jean-Luc's death. She was later seen jumping out of one of the VIP Lounge windows around the time of Jean-Luc's murder. However, her camera had slipped from her possession during her hasty exit and was recovered by a crew member. Examination of the camera's photos clear Snap of having committed the foul deed.

This leaves us only one suspect remaining, the murderer…

…Gopher!

The Evidence:

• Gopher had complete access to Jean-Luc's cabin where he secured the other half of Wolfie's torn sketch and placed it in Jean-Luc's hand after he expired.

• After Jean-Luc doused Gloop with cognac, Gopher was witnessed offering to take Gloop’s jacket to the ship's laundry. Gopher took Gloop’s press pass from his jacket pocket to plant at the scene of the crime.

• The esthetician encountered Gopher in Bliss' suite holding her makeup bag. Gopher said that Bliss had asked him earlier to bring it to her in the spa but he had been delayed running errands for Jean-Luc. The esthetician recognized Gopher as one of Jean-Luc and Bliss' entourage so thought nothing of it. This proves that Gopher had the means to secure the lethal dose of sedative from Bliss' bag.

• Gopher's testimony that he had been in the ship's laundry at the time of the murder is proven false because the laundry was closed and locked that evening due to a private staff party.

• Snap’s camera contained photos of Gopher entering the VIP Lounge with the champagne, giving the glass to Jean-Luc, standing over Jean-Luc and smirking as he expired, as well as placing Wolfie's sketch in Jean-Luc's hand and dropping Gloop’s press pass.

• Snap had followed Gopher to the VIP Lounge hoping for some juicy shots of a confrontation between the two. She had snuck in through the staff entrance and hid behind some plants by a window from where she snapped the photos. As Gopher was leaving through the main entrance, Snap heard someone coming through the staff entrance, panicked, and leapt out the window behind her where her camera slipped out of her pocket and was recovered by a crew member before she could return and retrieve it. Snap had remained quiet about the photos until questioned about them as she had thought about the possible fame and fortune that might be gained by selling them to the tabloids.

As Inspector Clothessew finished his summation, Gopher noticed that all the exits were covered by the Félicité Marée’s security officers and that there was no escape.
He bowed his head for a bit, but then raised his gaze, a fire burning in his eyes, slammed his clipboard on the table, then stood and blurted out his confession -

"Oh, stop looking at me like that! You all saw how he treated me. 'Gopher, fetch my espresso! Gopher, my socks are the wrong shade of eggshell! Gopher, you're a talentless nobody!'
For three years, I was the shadow behind the 'Vaneer' genius. I didn't just fetch his dry cleaning; I drew half of that 'Cruisewear Collection' while he was passed out on expensive cognac! And what did I get for it? Six months without a paycheck and my own portfolio thrown into the ship’s incinerator because he 'didn't want competition from the help.'
So, yes. I took a little 'travel insurance' from Bliss’s makeup bag. She has so many pills, she’ll never miss a few sedatives. I dropped them into his vintage 1945 Bollinger—the only thing he loved more than his own reflection.
I thought I was clever. I planted Wolfie’s sketch. I 'lost' Gloop’s press pass. I even timed it to Jimi’s ridiculous guitar solo so the noise would drown out Jean-Luc’s final gasp.
But I forgot one thing... the staff party in the laundry room. I spent so much time pretending to be 'above' the help that I forgot to check their schedule. I thought I was a designer, a mastermind, a star!
But it turns out, I’m just a murderer. At least in prison, the uniforms are all the same color—I won’t have to worry about the 'wrong shade of eggshell' ever again!”

gopher_byrd was escorted by Captain Sterling and Inspector Clothessew to a mock brig in the Noir Lounge (where he was actually given VIP treatment!)

Afterwards, despite all the evidence given, our dearest gopher_byrd still insists he didn't do it!

As we arrive back in Barcelona, we have a little time to kill before heading to the airport and our flight home.
Perhaps time enough to enjoy the view from an outdoor table at a cafe while enjoying a last coffee, drink, or snack before we leave.

Wow! Wow wow wow, you shouldn't have.

This is written as if you have traveled this route. I have not been to Corsica (your reference to Ajaccio), but Barcelona is one of my favorite places on the planet, with such a relaxed atmosphere like here in San Antonio, but closer to beaches.

I'll keep reading through and respond more.

Thank you for the love, my best friends who are more dear to me than anybody I know in person.

Yep, that crazy Gaudi architecture that makes you dizzy to look at, the charming Park Güell, the Gothic Quarter, Basilica Sagrada Familia, the seafood. Love Barcelona! I honestly don't remember Barcelona City Hall, but it might have been a walk-by. Well it was a long time ago. I need to get back there.

There is a movie, "Uncovered" with Kate Beckinsale, which I have in my collection because it's a great movie, and because it takes you to Barcelona, where the mystery is set.

I enjoy cruising. I hear people making fun of it, for being in a cabin for multiple feedings daily, but they have it wrong. It's your hotel following you wherever you go, rather and packing and unpacking for multiple destinations. You go into the ports of call, you walk, see the attractions, get an ice cream cone on the street. I lose weight on a cruise, from all the walking. Coffee and brandy is my dessert at the sumptuous dinners.

And so we close out this special day of birthday celebration for Bliss and will shortly arrive in Marseilles for more adventure.

She has never revealed her true birthday to us, so we decided that this Mediterranean adventure would include a birthday party for her as well. We'll give everyone plenty of time to get ready and meet up around noon to get things started with a Ramen buffet,

Actually, I did once reveal to goph that I'm a leap year baby, so you're close to the date with this party, but I don't get another birthday until 2028, unless friends take me on a cruise... Oh wait, my friends did take me on a cruise, right now.

Mmm, ramen! I'm loving it, the cake, the music, being on board the ship with my friends, visiting these wonderful ports of call. That "front seat" for a vape is exhilarating.

It looks like Jimi is getting something he needs more of lately:

A Word of Warning:
The waters are calm, but the industry is turbulent. Tensions are high between Monsieur Vaneer and his inner circle. We suggest you keep your friends close and your lifejackets closer.

Oh, he doesn't like me. He knows I'd rather have one vintage hacking jacket than ten of his new things.

You can reserve my seat at the family table with you Gloop, Wolfie, Snap, Jimi and Goph.
