Where the Wild Roses Grow - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds , Kylie Minogue

This disturbing song is based on a tale going back hundreds of years. One version of the story reads as follows.

Back during the medieval times, there was a lovely woman named Elisa Day from Ireland. It was said that her beauty was like that of the wild roses that grew down the river, all bloody and red. One day, a man came to the small town where Elisa lived. He instantly fell in love with her.

On the first day, he visited her where she lived. The next day he brought to her a single red rose. After this, he asked Elisa to meet him where the wild roses grow. They ended up dating for just three days.

Upon the last day, he took her down by the river where he killed her. This evil soul waited until her back was turned, before striking her with a large rock in the back of the head. He then whispered, “All beauty must die” — and with one swift blow, he killed her instantly.

After she died, this man placed a single red rose between her teeth and pushed her body into the river below. Since her untimely death, many folks who have wandered here have seen the ghost of Elisa aimlessly wandering the riverside.

May be an image of text that says 'Sometimes you just need to sit down, blast your favourite music, and not give a fuck about the world for a while. COACH TIM'

May be an image of 1 person, musical instrument and text that says ' Without music to decorate it, time is just a bunch of boring production deadlines or dates by which bills must be paid. -Frank Zappa'

Pick a topic for me. Religion? Sociology? Philosophy? Culture? Cooking? Basically any broad topic, nothing too specific. Anything that might be a category at a library. First topic thrown at me is what I'm going to browse for at my favorite bookstore today.
Cooking comes to mind just because I saw this and it cracked me up :teehee:

Good thing for the day is that someone managed to get this crazy rooster out of the road safely. This is a fairly busy intersection not far from where I live.

Unfortunately, from what I've heard on this, it doesn't seem like anybody bothered to ask it why it was crossing the road, so I guess that question will remain unanswered.
This is a simple answer.....
To get to the other side ;) :) :teehee:

Well the course that everybody flocked to sign up for at my college was Human Sexuality.

Yesterday, my mom and brother was over, but my nephew was just to engulfed in his computer games he didn't come over with them, such a butt munch. They visited and ate lunch, it was nice. Oh, they also brought their doggies Maggie Moo Moo and Pistol.
Tigglee always runs behind the love seat, the other two are not scaredy cats. They are brave warriors who stand their ground with these creatures with two legs and the other two with four legs.
This was my good thing for Saturday :) :inlove:

This place is an old house turned into a primarily used bookstore. Downstairs is non-fiction, upstairs is fiction. Headed downstairs first and I saw this as soon as I walked down the stairs.

Written by someone who has spent a significant amount of time traveling all around Mexico, and with guidance not just from chefs and scholars, but from numerous housewives. She includes a great deal of information about selecting and preparing ingredients in traditional ways, including a statement in her introduction about how Mexican cooking techniques are simple compared to French, :teehee:

I was looking for a different piece, couldn't find it. Saw this. The artist/group is not named.

Ancestors dance

I don't know if it's just me that hears it this way, but the instrument that I think is a clarinet (I had a hard time deciding what it was, so I'm not completely certain) somehow almost had a vocal quality to it.
