I haven't yet decided if this is a good thing or not. My old choir teacher who become a friend and something of a mentor in adulthood said something to me this morning about my former wife that has flipped my world upside down and I'm still processing it. My first thought was that she was out of her mind, but...
Now that she said what she did I find myself thinking back over 20 years of my life and seeing signs that she might be right, which would mean I spent the better part of those 20 years plus the 7 years completely blind to who I was married to. That doesn't seem possible but like I said now that I think back on it it sure seems like there could have been some truth to my mentors assessment.
Like I said I'm still processing and I know this is very vague, but it's changing some things about how I view myself, which is the part that might be a good thing. I'm starting to see that I may very well have shouldered the blame for things that weren't my fault. Of course I still have the things I legitimately did wrong, but this somewhat changes my perspective. So we'll see where my thoughts take me but I think this is a good thing that happened today.
